GREAT INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO
Thanks Andrew you’re very kind 👍Kent
Are you supposed to do anything to the pre existing grout before you do this? I've seen another video that used a steel brush to remove some of it before re applying? It's my first time doing this so don't want to miss any necessary steps but also want to do it as straightforwardly as possible! Thank you!
Hey Lu, yeah the best way to prep the area is to scrape back a minimum of 3mm (1/8”) of the existing with a grout rake (pretty cheap hand tool). Have a look at this vid👍

Thank you that was very helpful.
Hey, you're welcome Lightfoot, have you gotten stuck into it yet? how did it go? Kent
Do you have to remove or clean the old grout before regrouting?
Hey SoWhat, I raked out 1/8” or 3mm (minimum)of the old grout before applying the new stuff. Best of luck with your project 🤙 Kent
You didn’t explain the procedure for getting old grout out
Hey Pauly. Sorry mate - this was just a regrouting video, check this out👌

Thanks again NosyCat 😉 Kent
We have a shower that is currently being used , how long should you let it dry out before doing these repairs ? I was worried that regrouting water undetnearh
Great question David, I left this one for a week as we had a second shower the family could use, the thicker mortar under the tiles may still have been damp as this would take soo long to dry but the tile and grout was dry enough to work on after 1 week (with the theory that it would all dry out over time once regrouted and sealed). Best of luck mate, Kent
is it absolutely necessary to get rid of old grout before you do this or can you just put the new grout on top
Hey Roy, remove at least the top 3mm of the old grout to ensure the new grout has a ‘hold’ once applied

did you remove or just raked a little of the old grout where the walls meet the floor before applying the the white caulk?
Hey Lalo, just about the same (3-4mm) as the floor tiles👍.
I did a shower last month and grouted the corners instead of caulking - let’s see in time which is the better technique. Cheers, Kent
@@InspireDIY Thank you Ken sounds great. BTW forgot to ask, is this grout sanded or unsanded? Just want to make sure I get all of the right materials to avoid back and forth trips to the warehouse store lol.
Can the same material be used for the floor as well?
Hey mate, the grout product? yes for sure 👍 cheers. Kent
Hi Kent , do you do any work to other people!!!!! I need a handyman??? Thanks
Sorry Myriam, unfortunately my ‘to-do’ list is far too big to take on other’s challenges too.
Thanks for the comment 👍 Kent
Hello. Did you use cement group? Or epoxy grout? Thanks
Hello again😉 great question.
I used a sanitized cement grout in white to suit the light grey areas colour (and I feel white always looks cleaner). Cheers, Kent
@@InspireDIY thank you Kent
I need to do this project "BUT" our tile spacing is smaller than a tile rake will fit into, how do I address that ? We have slight mold in grout lines as well, does all the darkened grout need to be removed prior to re-grouting ?
Hey Gary, those cheap hand tools often have provisions to remove one of the 2 rakes making it suit a narrower grout line. And yeah, I would rake out as much as possible and hit it with a chlorine solution (or whatever mould killer you prefer), then a rinse and allow it to dry thoroughly before re-grouting. Best of luck mate👍Kent
When regrouting, do you need to remove old grout???
Grout saw
Hey Josh, yeah ..what LongParsnip said, a grout saw normally removes the old cement based grout well, remove at least 3mm (1/8”) of the old stuff, make sure it’s really dry before reapplying. Best of luck mate🤞let us know how you get on. Kent
So, do you scrape out the old grout first and if so, how?
Hey Helen, great Question, get a cheap 'grout rake' and a free afternoon, you'll have it sorted ready for a re-grout! feel free to check out this vid here, ua-cam.com/video/ElOydwH4cEI/v-deo.html thanks, Kent
Did I miss the part where the old grout was removed??
No mention of prep work?
Hey mate, different video: ua-cam.com/video/ElOydwH4cEI/v-deo.htmlsi=1FMAud6EMCxyH_nm

Don't you have to remove the old grout?
Hey John, yes - great question! You don’t have to completely remove all the old grout, scrape out at least the top 2-3mm with a grout rake which allows the new grout adequate space to get in and hold on How to remove epoxy grout from tiled shower - Inspire DIY Kent Thomas
