Preeclampsia and twins. Vaginal birth no drugs. 9 minutes apart. I refused these kind of interventions. I received no hassle from the doctors or mid-wives. I informed myself and did what I had to ensure full gestation of 37 weeks. I went into labor at 23 weeks. There was no way I was going to allow this nonsense.

Giving birth was the two best days of my life. It’s not easy but it’s worth every second of the difficulty. Women are more at risk or complications as maternal age increases, and if you have other things going on like a higher weight etc. Medical professionals are so great. They do such a wonderful job. No reason to be overly afraid. Probably in more danger getting into your car, honestly.

Marlena, big hugs from one momma to another! I had a traumatic birth story last December. I had an emergency C-section and then baby boy was rushed to NICU. I didn't get to meet him for over 2 hours. He then spent 1 week at Children's Hospital. Today he is doing great, praise be to God! ❤

That medical team sounds incompetent. This should never have happened. If the baby is in that much distress the first thing should have been a c-section. I have been a nurse for 18 years, never should have gone this far.

@@MelanieMW They just had to switch their standard PPE to prepare for possible airborne transmission. Intubating patients can cause aerosol transmission of virus so N95s are mandatory. Same with CPR, God forbid.

Kimberley Dawn my sister had a similar delivery but part of it was my sister wanted to deliver natural so bad and every time the nurse or doctor said we need to start talking surgery my sister would dig in and say no I’m going to do this like natural. We were begging her to go with surgery but until the baby was in danger she was not giving in. From what she’s describing she was in that same stubborn I can do it I got this far I’m going to be ok. Some times your body just fights you. That is why so many women died back in the day from delivery you can never predict your body and until the epidural she was handling things well

This happened to me, they told me that they didnt know she would make it. I said a prayer a few seconds into the OR, and all of a sudden I don't feel her move anymore. They gave me something to drink. And I passed out. I woke up 40 minites later in a white room, no baby, no husband. But they were in the nursery together, thank god. GIRL! We love you! I have been following you since before you had 1k followers and am over the moon you got your baby!!!! I had a crazy birth as well, but those tough determined little girls of ours grow up to be kick-a$$ women (mine is just shy of 19). I was in labor for 63 hours. Wound up with a c-section and my epidural had pulled out, so the entire surgery was UNMEDIATED. I flat lined, the staff wheeled the baby out one door, my husband out the other. They had to sew me up fast so they could paddle me - which THANK GOD they didnt' have to do. One nurse, an angel, realized my epi was out and drugged me hardcore. Medical staff of all types are absolute GODSENDS. I am so excited you have a happy healthy baby girl! Best of luck mama!! xoxo

I'm forever grateful that my mom made sure I knew the details of how traumatic things were when she had me (granted, this was over 30 years ago), but that my little brother's birth 10 years later was nowhere near as scary or dangerous.

26 HOURS? 26 HOURS??? holy cow! i cannot imagine! i was in labor for 14 hours before they decided i needed an emergency c-section. my sons heart rate was sky-high and my blood pressure dropped drastically to the point where the doctor told my mom that they almost lost both of us but God was watching out for us and we both came through it fine. i had a pitocin drip and the crazy STRONG contractions that come with that and i had an epidural (twice because they missed it the first time) but when they decided i had to have a c-section, they numbed me from the neck down with lidocaine and that was surreal! when they lifted me from the gurney to the operating table i literally felt like i was floating in mid-air because i couldnt feel their hands on me lifting me up. but anyway so glad you had a healthy baby girl! Congratulations Marlena!

I also had a traumatic birth. Very similar, I was in labor for 48 hours, pushed for 4 hours straight.. the epidural worked a little TOO well.. I couldnt feel to push effectively .. plus he just didnt want to come out. I had a c-section, the surgeon accidentally cut my bowel and I lost a ton of blood, went into convulsions and was awake through all of it. My baby was 9lbs 6 oz... im 105 lbs and 5'4.. very petite. There was no other way he was coming out lol. I had to be given medication to stop convulsions, I was so weak.. I couldnt even hold him for hours afterward.. that was the hardest part. No one ever talks about these kinds of birth experiences, so I am so glad you shared yours. More women should. Congrats on your baby girl, I am a looonnnggg time subscriber and i'm just so genuinely happy for you and your family.

You and I...we have much in common with our experiences, off by one hour and one day. I was in labor for 27 hours and our son was born on April 27th. I wish my doctor had done an emergency c-section, but they forged ahead with my being in labor, even though I told them something was wrong, that he had moved. I, too, had a problem with the epidural. Several times, too, and by the end, they thought they had it, but they ended up numbing me from the top up, not the waist down, so I felt everything. Needless to say, I needed up having a VERY stressful vaginal birth, posterior brow presentation and our son ended up in new-natal NICU care for 3 days fighting for his life. He was 9 pounds, 10 3/4 ounces. Good thing I have large “birthing hips.” LOL! And Thank God, literally, he survived. I’ll never forget the experience. My first child, first everything and it was terrorizing. But, I’m happy to say our baby boy is now 26 and very strong & happy. I completely empathize with you. Not sure where you had your baby, but I was at Overlake. As for the emotions...I promise you, it’s perfectly normal for parents like us who have been through a stressful birth. BUT, while the memories will always remain with you, I promise, the raw emotions of them will fade on time and not feel so raw. I think it’s Gods way of assuring that we can have another child if it’s in the cards because, while I remembered it, and was concerned with our second, I never would have made it through it had those raw emotions not healed. And isn’t it something...if you read back my messages to you, I saw all this and wrote it to you starting over a year and a half ago. I wish you and your family all the next, sweetie. Much love, Shelbie =)❤️💙

I had almost the exact same experience as you! I’m crying listening to it. It was so so scary. After 36 hrs of labor baby came out not breathing after the C-section and they had to intubate him- it was a whole thing. He was ok thankfully but it was so awful to not hear him cry 🤕 I am a year out from my birth and still have nightmares here and there- but the pure joy he brings me has outweighed all the negative emotions. It’s amazing how they have the power to do that! I have watched you for years and years and I’m just so happy for you! ❤️

OMG Marlena your story is my story! I went in because off lack of movement from the baby then they told me I had to stay and I never really dilated and my daughter's heart rate dropped so I had to have a C-section. I could feel them cutting me and I screamed I can feel it I can feel lt! They gave me some strong Morphine and then finally I was numb. That was 26 years ago! Also by the way I want you to know I recently purchased your large empty palette and filled it up with your single eyeshadows and I love them sooooo much!

She can't be his mom for 2 whole weeks! She had no symptoms..same with her husband 😭 Feel so bad for them!! Hard to say what was happening 3 months ago and the testing protocols back then but once you have to place a breathing tube in the risks of transmission shoot way up for the people around the patient. If she was being put under the anesthesia team would be placing a breathing tube so that may have triggered the sudden rush to put on specialized PPE.

Hey marlena🙌🏼omg I missed you so much❤️so beautiful...yeah birth is freaking rough! My dr. Thought my baby would’ve been 8lbs. When I went into labor I didn’t realize I was going into labor, my water didn’t break but I was having the worst pains ever. I drove myself to the hospital (45min) drive. My hubby was with us, his mom, my nephew and my mans cousin. I wanted to do this without medication. So I told the nurses I didn’t want any medication. Well when I was fully dilated after 13 hours of labor I screamed and begged for pain medication but it was too late they said they couldn’t give me anything at this point. After 2 more hours of pushing they showed me this perfect precious beautiful baby who for sure wasn’t 8 lbs he was actually 10lb 1.5 ounces. He had the thickest most gorgeous dark hair. (His hair as he grew was popping out curly sue ringlets left and right) anyway when I first got up to use the bathroom I fainted in their and lost a ton of blood. It was scary I almost felt like I was gonna die. We women go thru a lot. But after we see their beautiful little faces it’s all truly worth it. Congratulations on becoming a mommy. I’m so happy to be able to see your dreams come true.

My last experience was an emergency as my bowel became twisted on a prior surgical adhesion ... causing me to become very sick and needing emergency surgery to correct the condition (septic shock ). I also have fibromyalgia (20 years) so I’ve been prescribed Oxy for pain for years. Well .... that becomes a serious problem in an emergency situation with pain and surgery when the anesthesiologist can’t do his job and you wake up during surgery from the pain... kinda the worst thing ever.

Not to be negative, but I feel like I have to say: you might not be able to boost your supply. By all means, try everything! But here’s what happened with me: I was OBSESSED with trying to boost my extremely low milk supply, tried absolutely everything, and nothing, absolutely nothing, improved it. My lactation consultant finally said to me “You have done everything I’d tell you to do - if it’s not working now, it might not work.” My OB, who delivered my baby three days before having one of her own, had the exact same experience, as did another friend of mine who had a baby a year ago. I guess it’s rare, and most women can supply adequately, but chronically low-supply is a thing that happens, and there is no shame in it, as frustrating as I can tell you it is and as hard as it is to cope with. I hope it improves, truly - but my heart goes out to you in advance if it doesn’t.
