Primitive Cedar Bush Bow

- For this video we used a piece of commonly found cedar. I chose a fairly straight and slightly curved branch the straighter the better. I flattened one side and tried to even up the overall thickness of the bow so it would bend in the right direction, then tapered the top foot or so to a dull point making the bow bend more, the closer it gets to the top and bottom. The total time from start to finish was about an hour, although it is not pretty it is a serviceable and lethal bow made in a relatively short period of time that would work for more than just a couple uses. Although cedar isn’t a common material I wanted to demonstrate how you can quickly create a functional bow with whatever materials are on hand. The bow had about a 60lb draw weight at 28 inches so it was plenty for hunting larger game. www.grimworkshop.com

finally, someone who knows how to properly string a bow...
Awesome job! Great video
Did you ever get to measure the poundage on this bow? How is it doing today in 2019? Thanks for the upload!
That was actually a primitive bush bow made with green bamboo so it only lasted a few weeks, they are not designed for long term use. It was a 35lb bow used for small game.
That doesn’t look like any bamboo that I’ve ever seen
@@grimsurvival5317 that's definitely not bamboo
Are you guys crazy? It’s Taiwanese Bamboo, for sure. I read that in a book.
