I'm older than you are and have been on Testosterone Replacement Therapy for several years and I've been losing hair for years. So I've been in the habit of shaving my head in hot weather for years. In Thailand I seem to blend in with many Farangs who are either bald or shave their heads. Anyway, I hope you get better. Live your life and I wish you success in finding joy.

Speaking of politicians and brain surgery, the current president of the US, Biden, has had open brain surgery and cancer. That surgery was 25 years ago. At least.

You can always take the train home from your European destination. If you are feeling bad on the train, you just get off at the next stop and walk into a hotel. Wait until you feel a bit better and then carry on. It is a great way of seeing more places. You are not in a rush. Trains in Europe are not a rip-off like in the UK.
Yep radiotherapy can make your hair fall out, it won’t grow back, but your health is more important, when I had radiotherapy for my prostate cancer I think it shrunk my willie !

You're doing the hard yards, Eddy, and obviously it's not much fun. But the treatment will end and your hair will grow back. You can always wear a beanie if the hair looks a bit patchy. Hopefully you get the results you and the rest of us want to see. You deserve it to happen. All the best, mate. ✌
Regarding the sugar point you made, I think you're correct if you're only taking about actual sugar, rather than all carbohydrates. However, there have been many people who have been terminal/stage 4 and yet managed to put their cancer into remission with low-carb/ketogenic/ carnivore diets combined with standard of care. The way it works is that you get your blood glucose levels quite low and the cancer cells have to compete with the other organs for it. The cancer cells starve as they need glucose to live and grow, but the rest of the body can survive just fine of fatty acids and ketones.
I stopped taking sugar over a year ago, then packed i carbs. Apart from a couple of weeks craving now and then, I don't miss any of them and feel fantastic. I've lost a stone too with out even trying.

I just noticed it too! Just a few days ago you have a decent head of hair. After a quick google, it says if radiotherapy on the head, you'll probably lose it. And it will probably come back 3 to 6 months after therapy completes.
Your looking good and with that positive attitude you will get through the 2nd half of the radiation therapy easily,as for the sugar being a diabetic cutting out as much of the sugar as i can i feel a whole lot better and i dropped about 30 lbs personally I don't believe everything a doctor says mainly because not all doctors agree with regards to treatment and or preventative measures
You think doctors aren't lying? What doctors want is that you take the therapy they are offering, they don't especially care about you. It's a job for them and they have many patients. Tell us one thing we told you wrong?
Ed, my RT went on for 8 weeks and it's a bit of a marathon towards the end but I still went on a trip right after as a reward to myself if for nothing else. I had no idea at that point if it would work or not after my failed surgery from 2 years before and I honestly had resigned myself to it not working so I said , well, fuck it, I am going on a trip then, LOL. Glad I did and much to my surprise, that RT DID work, obviously, 8 years on and still kicking, actually healthier now than I was before I got cancer two decades ago! Honestly, I think my mental health was exceptionally good throughout all that and I feel like yours is similar. You are curious about it and carrying on with a positive attitude which is the best way to deal with it. That attitude is golden. They told me it would get much worse as well - but it really didn't as far as I am concerned. Just tired for about a week or two after but then I could feel my strength return - because after all - the cancer itself is making you tired so once that is removed as a health burden your body will get to work fixing the effects of the radiation. So hopefully it won't be nearly as bad as they tell you. Reactions vary.

Eddie, if you get to the point of needing regular pain relief, they should be able to give you that on prescription rather than having to buy Paracetamol.
