whdbcjebevsjznbfuenwbdfuicobevdhcvesbdy in the official version, the one you’ll find on the album and spotify and whatnot, you’re correct, it’s pretty garden. however in this version, for a brief time the lyric was pretty baby instead👍
I love these first performances of my favorite Radiohead songs. Is it possible that No Surprises was ever being played for the first time and nobody knew it by heart yet?
It's in a different key than original- almost a whole step higher! Hard to listen-to with perfect pitch, but def good demonstration of evolution of Thom's vocals as mentioned previously.
@ParadoxAndPlaid This is from the july 7th 1996 Rock Werchter performance, it's a radio broadcast. They went into the studio later the same month and recorded the version on OK Computer.
Wow, Thom still sounds prepubescent. Also, is that Ed backing the vocals? Or is that Phil? And the bass cutting out in 2:47 is very interesting, This early version is very interesting
i really like the other guitar part greenwood plays, kinda sucks how it wasn’t on the album or in any other live versions cause he’s busy playing the glockenspiel
I love the university but the sistem is really really painful, I just want to study but I dont know how and who to ask the questions, nobody answers and that stuff, is really hard
The background vocal part is in 2:08 instead of at the end I can't tell what (I presume to be ed) is saying but I know in the live versions after no suprises was officially released he does the background vocals
I'd guess 96/early 97 because the first song from OK Computer that they wrote was Subterranean Homesick Alien, during the Bends tour, so it would have had to have been- at least- slightly later than that.
La imagen hace que recuerde la zona donde estaba la casa de Coraje, el perro cobarde. No sé por qué. Por una parte, es porque siento que el lugar donde está Thom es re solitario.
This gives me goosebumps, as my flashbacks to the very dark days back in high school, when I really wanted to end my life, return to me. To everyone out there, who goes through some difficult times and thinks about suicide, please be strong and stay here with us, because every problem can be resolved and no matter how deep down you are, it always gets better eventually. What is Ed singing in the background around 2:18? I know in the official OKC version it's (let me out of here) but I can't make out what it says on this version.
I'm pretty sure in the studio recording of no suprises thom does the background vocals but I know in the live veriosns after that ed does all the background vocals
I prefer this than the Ok Computer Studio arrangement. This sounds like Jonny played guitar and that sounds much cooler. I mean Glockenspiel was more 'artsy' but this sounds more rock and I prefer that
i love the dropoff from the bass at the 'such a pretty house part' in the context of the song it makes me feel like the guy in the song has truly died and that was the climax of death. god i love this song
Kind of understandable. With age, voice wanes. The reason they don't play Jigsaw Falling into Place live that much is because Thom's baritone voice has gotten weaker.
"This is a new song"
Oh God, I wish I was there to hear it for one of the first times : )

It’s been a long time.. 10 years. Maybe if you listen to it today then it would maybe feels like it.
