How are your experiences with replacing the whole LCD module with a modern LED backlight thing?

I have done a couple previously and they can be fiddly to do, but not outside scope of the average hobbyist with limited tools.
The most difficult thing is finding a module that is the right height and has a good contrast level that falls within the required range.
Myself and others have used these in the past with a good sucess rate.
