what a superb illustration of the boring goods traffic by Lichfield High Level. I biked 18 miles from West Brom to see the semis etc on Lichfield Low Level. The station was not a comfortable location for spotters so I found a railway embankment just north of the station where I could lie comfortably before the long drag home.
We're still ditting on an awful lot of coal of its ever needed. At the weekend a coal fired power station was fired up, due to the lack of wind, turbines still and the extreme heat reduces the efficiency of the solar farms, welcome to the future, blackouts .😮😂
Just what was Heath's mania about ever taking us in? Just some vague notion that by trading with France and Germany would miraculously transform our ailing, stagnant economy. Our problems were home grown, not least backward, dinosaur trade unions holding industry and society to ransom. By 1979, they were more like the mafia.
Some of these shots are world class. So beautiful and atmospheric.
Thank you for a wonderful old film off steam at it's best.
Really enjoying your high class videos, thanks for uploading

Excellent footage, the landscape has changed a lot, yet actually you can still see all of these location now, just built on!
Wonderfully evocative. Thank you for posting.
So much more evocative than videos which are shot today . . . in which the technical quality is often too high and the locos always too clean.
I remember it all great memories

I recognise Lichfield TV HL but I dont recognise the other, larger station. Is that Lichfiled City or Burton on Trent? Great movie by the way.
ahh the days when Britain had an industry before we joined the eU and lost it all

That section at 14:20 with 43002 on a WRS special. I don't recognise the station. Any ideas?
