As a chronic Cousins sufferer from Minnesota, let me recommend this treatment: Forget the money. Flush the problem, and turn the page. Jump all over your young, talented rookie QB, and relish the extremes of good fortune and puzzling in-play decisions. Penix will make you happy, where Cousins will never make you feel more than grudging respect. Penix has a legitimate rifle arm, and will throw crowd-pleasing piss missiles to streaking receivers. Penix can break free of pass rushers to gain outrageous first downs. Penix has the ability to make watching Falcons football into a fun thing, not an interminable test of fan suffering. Give him some fast WRs and a decent O Line, Penix will blow some teams away. Kirk Cousins will never make that happen.
The reality is the GM and head coach don’t want to look like idiots benching a guy that you paid a buttload of money to and also ate a draft pick from due to tampering. Reality is the veteran is making rookie mistakes with no sign of physical improvement. So why not let the rookie make the rookie mistakes with some upside to improve atleast.
I agree but the problem is that they are going to look like idiots regardless because they paid Kirk a boatload of money in the first place and they are never going to get anything significant from him. So, might as well bite the bullet and look to the future with Penix
Sunken Cost Fallacy though. 13 games is a large enough sample size to know that paying Kirk $100M was a mistake. The best GMs and coaches are the ones that correct these mistakes the fastest
@@jamalstrickland1 🤣🤣😂😂This is not sunken cost fallacy because they have no choice but to pay him...The deadcap for next season is 65 million and his cap hit is 40 million... Failcons are trash 😂😂🤣🤣
@@eddienash2095 The Sunk-cost fallacy is the reluctance to abandon a strategy because we’ve heavily invested in it. It applies here because if the only reason to keep starting Kirk is because of the money we’ve already committed to him, then that is not a sound business decision. Regardless of my team being trash or not 🤣, I think all grown adults should know what the sunken cost fallacy is and how it applies to decisions like this
Thank you, Tre. However, I don’t feel like Seth actually is watching Kirk. This is not the same Kirk physically. The ball floats and what limited mobility he did have is gone. It has led him to lose his best attribute in his decision making because he can’t physically do what he wants to do. If we are going to expect boneheaded rookie mistakes why not play the rookie whose arm strength immediately gives the offense space.
Cousins is a 12 year vet making rookie mistakes with no touchdowns in his last 4 games...it can't get no worst with a pro ready rookie with a stronger arm and can move if he needs to move unlike like the statue kirk cousins
For the sake of Falcons fans, I say start Penix. For "Kirk fans" I say , let him play so everyone can see that he is the "King of Trash stats" and embarrass all the "Kirk fans" who stood in his defense by always bringing up his "stats" . Like I said when he was in Minnesota and will always say, " stats and hype don't win games".
What we dont have that most teams have is the mobility in the QB. Thats a BIG thing. He cant buy any extra time throw the ball. Penix will be fine. Let him throw the INTs if anymore.
Its a perfect time to start Penix. Cousins need the punishment for his bad play. If Penix is terrible, put Cousins in after the half. If Cousins is bad, start Penix the next game. If Penix is average or good, let cousins sit out the rest of the season while trying to trade him. This will set up Penix to be very good next season. The idiot Falcon management will likely stick with Cousins, I agree.
You don't make this decision based on this year. You make this decision on what is best for you in the future. If you think starting Penix helps his development, then do that. If you're in the middle of fixing his mechanics and think starting Penix hurts his development, don't start him. But for the love of all things, you don't start Penix because you're mad at Cousins and nothing bad can happen, because we've all seen multiple teams ruin their QBs starting them too early. You start your young QB when they're ready. That said, probably not too much bad can happen with so few starts left in the season.
@jc-fo3io kirk cousins is a 12 year vet making rookie mistakes you can't do no worst with the most pro ready qb coming out the draft and they didn't draft him top 10 first round over what they really needed a pass rusher for nothing even coach raheem said he will be ready for moments like this kirk struggling and he is not a statue in the pocket like kirk he can move if needed with a much stronger arm js
Do you think it's time for the Falcons to make the switch to Penix?

Preciate y’all Minesotta fans. Y’all warned us, early and still are. Keila a good dude but we got blinded by stats.
Yes for Penix

I think it’s Penix time. He isn’t young, he’s supposedly ready to play. Why wait?
Exactly!
As a die hard Falcons fan, my hope is that Cousins will be JUST good enough for Cleveland, Tennessee, or NYG to trade for him
They should’ve started him last game
Do we need to play Penix? Yes....will we? No
The guy on the right is clueless and hasn’t watched Kirk this season. How does he think Kirk is a “good quarterback” in 2024

let Penix play the last 4 games for experience...

Atlanta needs to just come up with an injury that they can assign to Kirk. Shut him down and figure out what to do in the off season. 🤷

What b+ throws? Kirk is playing so scared in the pocket and doesn’t have throw power wat so ever!
LMAO...no
Nothing to gain by starting Kirk, other than trying to save the GM & Coaches jobs.
If Penix isn't ready, can do more harm than good. Penix hasn't practiced with first team or ran the offense even in practice since Training camp

Penix is way better. I can’t till Kirk is outa there. He be TERRIFIED!!!
