This gives me goosebumps and tears. It was sung at my unique Sister's funeral in Toronto this September. Couldn't attend funeral 😥 as I live in France but watched the service on livestream. Thanks for sharing caring and making me SMILE. A big hug.
The Lord's my shepherd, I'll not want; He makes me down to lie In pastures green; he leadeth me The quiet waters by. My soul he doth restore again, And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, E'en for his own name's sake. Yea, though I walk through death's dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For thou art with me; and thy rod And staff me comfort still. My table thou hast furnishèd In presence of my foes; My head thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows. Goodness and mercy all my life Shall surely follow me; And in God's house forever more My dwelling place shall be.
@@sulamitafontesdealmeida1531 Amen. May the LORD remember mercy in His wrath. His coming is nearer than it has ever been. May we are found in His light at His arrival. God bless.
Descants are hard to sing, as you are singing an entirely different tune; it takes LOTS of going and going through it. Once you get it down, you don't forget it.
It is traditionally sung on the 2nd verse as well as the 5th. I had heard something suggesting it was considered disrespectful to sing William Baird Ross's descant at funerals, but we heard it clear as day during Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
Well sung and played on the organ, but! why the rush? 'by quite waters he makes me to lie down' suggests calm and peace! why thr RUSH? No pause between verses either. Pity. I sang this many times with Mary of the angel song school in the early 50,s in Surrey.
My church closed in 2005. Established 1903. 3 manual Moller pipe organ. I was raised singing these hymns on a pipe organ.
amazing hymn

Good stuff have a happy day today. Go on psalm 23 ers
just how this big hymn should be sung, the full range of voices given by God to sing his praise.
It's not a hymn, it's a Psalm.
To be classed has a hymn, the words must reflect the bible, and has the psalms are included, this allows this to be considered so.
It's a Psalm with the words revised into a Scottish Hymn
Beautiful. Majestically sung.
My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen. Sulamita Fontes de Almeida and Emílio Carlos de Almeida Júnior. Marrieds. Brazil.

Celticcatlover why hello there
Willem Bezuidenhout oh
Good rendition by the choir. But why can't the choir sing the descant along with the last verse?
