wish there was a "love" button... spectacular - heavenly...
Wonderful. Not one unnecessary stroke or embellishment. A beautiful piece beautifully performed.
What a gift for the people sitting right in front of the choir!
This is what I want sung at my funeral.
I'm in the cathedral choir and this is one of my favourite pieces.
This brings back memories of my Mother who passed away. Thank you.
Achingly beautiful....it makes me weep.
The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want
He makes me lie in pastures green
He leads me by the still, still waters
His goodness restores my soul
And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home
He guides my ways in righteousness
And He anoints my head with oil
And my cup, it overflows with joy
I feast on His pure delights
And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home
And though I walk the darkest path
I will not fear the evil one
For You are with me, and Your rod and staff
Are the comfort I need to know
And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home (and I will trust)
And I will trust in You alone
And I will trust in You alone
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home (for Your endless mercy)
For Your endless mercy follows me
Your goodness will lead me home
WOW! That’s just beautiful!!!!! Nothing like a real chorus. Can’t help but to think of The Vicar of Dibley..
GERALDINE TELLS ALICE A JOKE AT THE END BUT SHE NEVER GETS IT
Howard, sensitive and beautiful. Thankyou!
Magnifique!
Stunning
Utterly beautiful
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. -Psalm 95:1
So beautifull! What a wonderful performance.
N-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n- yes!
Hahahahaha! Fun memories of that character.
We used to sing this regularly at the wee kirk Doon the road. Amen
Fab - well done - just beatufiful
Beautifully done. Thank you for posting.
Great choir, my grandad showed me around this room and many others. This carol reminds me of him when sang in this college
Wonderful! Thank you.
Excellent !!. This warrants a full recording...I'd buy it
Beautiful
Great work, very nicely done. You've done proud to Howard Goodall's brilliant setting of this song.
Brilliant setting ? The bass line is mental. It's like pick n' mix , half the words are missing. It's liturgically wrong..
@@stuartgish If you think this is mental, I suggest you check out Haydn's Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo. Apparently because the king hated long spells in church, Haydn wrote the music to have each choral line sing a different part of the text on top of each other so as to have the whole damn thing over in 25% of the usual time and they could all clear off home to attend to their regularly scheduled gluttony and lust.
And if you really insist on whinging, please note that this hymn was written as a theme tune for a fairly raucous comedy show about a sex-starved vicar surrounded by inbred sheep-and-cousin-shagging lunatics. It was only because it became so popular afterwards that it was expanded into a full hymn including the middle bit, because people actually wanted to perform it as-is in churches. It was never originally intended as a proper hymn. "Liturgically wrong" lol snort. Context is key.
@@EC2019 I think there's a hint of a point hiding in those many lines, but I still think I'm right to point out the sheer unmusicality of the bassline and the haphazard setting that the basses have to sing. This arrangement does not point the comedy in a very funny show, so I don't think context is an issue. Must admit I'm not familiar with the Haydn.
Fantastic piece of music and a truly wonderful performance
Wow!!! Mind blowing!
love this re
ndition!!
I love this setting so much. It’s proper Anglican and so uplifting.
It's proper Catholic, too! Our Choir sings this quite often! We sang it for my mother's Memorial Mass. It's a favorite. :)
@@meganmcgowan5798 Tbh no, it's not very Catholic. It's very puritan and Protestant in tone, musically.
@@EC2019 Yes, I know... but we will still claim it, LOL! I was simply saying that we sing it very often in our church... because our Catholic parish absolutely loves it. Shall I say that it's "proper" for our parish?? 😁
I love that
heart warming songs of hope. Continue to sing praises to God
Absolutely love this piece! Our church choir - St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Kitchener, ON, Canada has performed it a few times and the first verse is a Soprano solo. Very touching. And yes, we all remember it as the theme song of "The Vicar of Dibley" :)
choirman57 I’m from Cambridge do they still do
Beautiful!!!💗💗💗
Exquisitely rendered. Thank you!
Masterfully executed
Maravilhoso!
Lovely.
On November 25 - 2018, the feast of Christ The King, the St. Julia Choir in St. Catharines Ontario Canada will be singing this ‘The Lord is my Sheperd’ during the 11 o’clock Mass. Feel free to attend.
Love you guys!
That was very nice...Thank you...
We have to sing it for a canto choir concert! 😆
Beautiful phrasing
There's no way I could sing this in a choir. I'd just end up thinking about the Vicar of Dibley the whole time.
aka The Vicar of Dibley version...
Very nice 👌
Wunderschön A Prang

Good choir
😢
Lord is not a nice name for the best and most beautiful in the dept of our heart.

It's pretty but a soloist would have made all the difference, rather than the group of sopranos.
Not bad - but Aled Jones and his youngest mugwump Lucas! Do it a little bit better. But not too bad at all!
