Man! I have no words to thank you! On every single video I got stucked at the same point "No EFI Partition .... " And you are the only one that had the balls to ignore that warning and click continue. This tutorial is excellent. Thank you again.
On my third attempt at installing xubuntu I found your videos, very informative and well put together...it is the best advice I have seen for when your Bios Mode is Legacy...Thank you
Hello, I just followed your video and it worked so i want to thank you a lot because I followed 2 tutorials before without success and the fact that you show and explain everything clearly and slowly helped me a lot.
I will try in the next few days but I wanted to congratulate you on the clarity and precision in the details. I will definitely follow this tutorial. Thank you
Awesome video !! I tried installing it 2 times, failed 1st time I was unable to allocate space for it. 2nd time the boot menu was not loading but, this simple and well presented tutorial really helped me out. You just gained a subscription 👍

Thanks Munchy. I've tried this several times, and keep getting an error installing Grub. Trying several work arounds now. Thanks for this video to at least help get the process started!
Excellent bro. Really very very excellent , the manner you led me to install successfully after many failed attempts by me earlier, May God bless u. Thanks bro.
Thanks very much dude, worked like a charm! Another thing though, after the installation is done and everything works normally, do I turn on fast bootup again? (the option that you had us turn off in battery settings)
Hey Munchy, your videos are really very nice and informative. This one is also very good. I have a request for you, can you plz make a similar installation video of dual boot with prime os without having grub2 bootloder. Anyways its amazing as always :)
Seems pretty thorough. I'm currently updating an old HP dv9500 laptop. This tutorial will be very handy. Originally: AMD Turion 64 X2 T-58 processor 1.9Ghz Dual Core 1GB DDR2 340GB SATA-I HDD 802.11 b/g three USB 2.0 ports, 10/100BaseT Ethernet, 56k modem, HMDI 1.4 / VGA / S-Video outputs, Firewire port 54mm ExpressCard slot (direct connect to PCI 1.0x1 lane) Windows Vista Home 32-bit Currently: AMD Turion 64 X2 T-68 processor 2.4 GHZ 8BG DDR (dual channel, 4GB per slot) 1TB SATA-III SSD (connected to SATA-I speed dock) 802.11 a/b/g/n with Bluetooth. BlueTooth 4.0 USB key Powered 2-outlet USB 3.0 card via the 54mm ExpressCard slot. (5Gbps USB limited to 2.5Gbps due to PCIe 1.0x1 lane) 2.5GBaseT Ethernet via USB 3.0 adapter Also available? ExpressCard adapter for NVMe slot (limited to 320 MB/s) I have Windows 10 64-bit running well on this project laptop. I recently re-installed Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit to keep the 8GB readable. 32-bit runs fine, and is needed for updating the legacy HP/Phoenix BIOS, but being 32-bit can only address 3.75GB ram). Being limited to a Legacy BIOS, I have my 3 OS's (Windows 10, Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and Vista Home 32-bit) on 3 separate SSDs all with MBR disk format. I plan on cloning them all to a 2TB SSD (using an Extended Boot Record to make them Logical VBR drives... which would prevent it's use with XP or earlier windows, but be fine with Vista+) but I needed a clear way to modify the boot-loader. This video was exactly what I needed. :) I suppose the ultimate upgrade would be to boot from a GPT drive using this Legacy BIOS, but that's the next project... and maybe add Ubuntu to play with as well. This cheap laptop is a diamond from the past... it even has dual SSD bays which can run in RAID 0. ;)
When I try to create the partition in Ubuntu DDE it says :- "The partition table on WDC WD5000LPCZ-60VHATO already has 4 primary partitions, and no more can be added. Please remove one primary partition and add an extended partition, instead" and also it doesn't show an option to create a logical partition. Can someone help me?
I loved the video straight to the point and extremely thorough in your presentation but I have one question why did it not detect that you were running Windows 10(specific message: Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 10) I have seen that in a multitude of other videos. Explain if you can???
i think its due to the fact that there was no efi partition. from what i have seen i think ubuntu recognizes os from boot drive which is efi for mordern uefi users.
wait, you have multiple partition more than 4, i think four is the maximum number for mbr drive partition. and how do you do that? is that logical partition?
Followed these instructions for Linux Mint instead of ubuntu and with Windows 8.1 on an old Dell Studio Hybrid. Linux installed fine. Reboots automatically into windows as usual, and with easyBCD I set up linux with Grub legacy and restarted. it just goes right into windows still. Tried setting it to Grub2, still goes right into windows? did I miss something? EDIT: I am using legacy BIOS as there is no UEFI on this old machine.
I didn't get the option from EasyBCD to 'automatically locate and load' in the drive: drop-down and I accidentally left it on partition1 thinking it automatically chose it for me. I saw on my second try to select the correct partition and now the ubuntu is booting fine but I have created two options. one on the incorrect partition and the other on the correct one. How do I undo the first one and is it going to mess something else up.What did I do?
This is an awesome presentation!!! very good job. though i have small thing that i was presented both windows boot manager and when i choose ubuntu, i get another option to choose ubuntu or windows. DId i missed any of your instructions?

Muncky Linux in dualboot with Windows 10 on the Sony vaio 500 gb it is a pc with legacy that is mbr but being that it is a large hard disk I do not know how many gb to give has Windows and I do not know how much it has Linux would you recommend me? Then another information regarding the manual partitioning can you tell me the exact commands to put? For mbr then for when it concerns the programs As soon as installed I uninstall them with the programs without leaving a trace then I right click on the disk and I clean and I do the cleaning then in temp prefetch then I have a memory of 4gb I saw that in the video you put a partitioning in ram manually to create the ram to be dedicated has linux me having 4gb what number should I put? thank you very much and good day carlo
Just curious, what are the advantages of ubuntu dual boot with windows? What programs does it run? Or is there is a specific linux os that specialize on certain task? Like is there a specialized linux OS for video editing, gaming and what else? Because I want to try this out?
@PaRaNOiD What are some programs that forces you to boot Linux instead of Windows? Reasons: Either the programs are free but on Windows that similar program is cost money or the Linux program that is just that great/comparable to Windows program. I don't know anything about Linux. I installed it years ago on my pc but never use it. Can you give me an idea what programs are great on it.
