Water quality is so important when growing orchids and many new growers may not understand that their water may be a key part of why their orchids are struggling. My tap water has a PH of 8.5 so I use a filtered pitcher. Even when I add fertilizer to the water it is still not in the ideal PH range.

Hello! Good Happy Sunday from UK here. This video maybe 2 years old but I watched it. I was trying to search what sort of water I’ll use for my orchids. I bought 2 orchids and used tap water to washed my orchids. It didn’t take long, days after flowers dropped off and leaves turned yellow. Devastated. Thank you for your video and I will use now drinking bottled water or maybe rain ☔️ water. Very good information. I am relieved. BIG THANK YOU....x❤️
This is all very good advice. I have amended my water with vinegar. I use the pH strips for pool pH. My water is very hard, pH is 7.3 out of the well. I add little bits of vinegar until the pH is 6.5. when I add fertilizer such as Peter's pro the pH goes back up. I add more vinegar until the pH is back to 6.5. This works for insecticides and herbicides and fungicides. I have been doing this now for 25 yrs. Good luck with any kind of water used..:)
You are so right Amy, about a couple years ego becouse of time I got careless and water my orchids with tap water and our water is heavily clorinated and it did not take long when I noticed the difference in my plants, so the quality of water is so important. Thank you for this video

I would like to have your advice if I can mix my distilled water (where I think there aren't t any nutriments) to a bottle drinking water ( hard water) . Because I can't find osmosis filter in my country. And I didn't have ph and tds tester to verify the ph and the quality of my mixed water. thank you very much.
Hello Nejib and thanks so much for your kind comment! Yes, you can mix the distilled water in with bottled drinking water. Or you can use plain distilled water to water with. There aren't any nutrients in distilled water as you mentioned, but the pH is 6.0. My reverse osmosis filtered water is 6.5, which is very similar to distilled, and I use it with my orchid fertilizer as well. Thank you for your question and have a great day!
I have heard that not all bottled water is equal. I believe that some brands can be quite salty. My sister in law put some bottles in the freezer and they did not freeze. I think you need to be careful with regular store bought bottled water. I have seen other comparisons of the ph and tds readings and they can vary quite a bit.have a great day!

What is ironic is that I drink tap water but I don't give it to my orchids because here in Florida are water is so hard it has so much calcium and magnesium in it that it's ridiculous so I go to the market at the corner and by my RO water $0.30 per gallon! 👉👵👈
