- A very short piece of footage showing Callas former pianist, Robert Sutherland, revisiting the diva's former Paris apartment many years after she died there (on 16th September 1977). It's a great pity there wasn't more footage but this clip is now quite rare.

God!! I want to see more! So beautiful and elegant.
This footage is unbelievable! They have the opportunity to come in and film Maria Callas's apartment and all they do is shoot Robert Sutherland in surprise. Great loss of time and opportunity! 🤨
Omg!! I couldn't agree more with you!
I've been there yesterday, during my journey in Paris. I could walk the steps and took the lift. It was exciting. I arrived to the door but I don't think it is now possible to enter the flet because it is private. An emotional ecperience.
well, you would have had to have a key !

Robert Sutherland (accompanist pianist for her last tour) wrote an excellent book about his observations and the tour experience.
Worth reading.
With all that has been said about her relationship with Onassis. She said many times, if the right man came along she would have given it all up for a home and children.
It was fate that it wasn't the right man or at the right time. But only Madame Callas is the only one who could truly say if it was worth it or not.
We should all be fortunate that we have so much of her talent to listen to these many decades later.
I'm sure the entire apartment was grand and over-the-top, much like La Divina. On a related note, Mr. Sutherland's book about his time working with Maria is excellent - one of the best books I've read about the incredible Callas.
I know the building well, used to take an apartment nearby, but have never been inside. I hope it is classified as a place of national importance, it ought to be.
Yes, me too. I was next door when she died.
RIP Maria Callas (died #otd in 1977) 🌺🌺🌺
OK close ups of him throughout a very little of the apartment
One is grateful for what there is...
Never Go Back. No matter what, it is never the same … Because the People whom made it are gone
Sorry Luciana - I have not been personally, this was a clip from a documentary of her one time accompanist Robert Sutherland revisiting her old apartment.
Delicious...
From memory "Callas - Life & Art", though this scene never appeared on the commercial issue - it was only ever seen on a Performance channel broadcast many years ago. I have no idea why this is, though.
Omg!!!!!!
Wow, what a privilege . Did u get to see her bedroom? Which parts of the apartment were u able to see? And how did u get this opportunity? I would love to go there one day ! I'm a huge fan of La Divina
