What can I say I need a truck of some sort :). would like to find one 78'-81' That's going to be later on down the road though. Still in process of getting the 305 installed on the Malibu. I will be watching this video series closely.
So how’s it running after replacing the cap wires and coils? What else has been done. I’m thinking about buying a similar el Camino for a first project for my son and I so I’d like to get some insight on the minor repairs
So I haven’t replaced the cap wires or coil yet. I’m pretty sure my problem is the mass air flow sensor on it. It has a broken pigtail that I think is connecting and disconnecting while the engine is running. Because I can let it sit and Idle and it will run really smooth and then a few minutes later it will run rough and then it will go smooth again. I’m working on my next video and it will have more information.
I was driving my 1980 El Camino down a highway and it had no power the lights, radio, turn signals all the electrical stuff was fine but my foot was on the ground and it still continued to lose power idk what’s wrong with it i tested the alternator it was fine the battery came up and oil choke light came on idk what to do any help?
The first place I would start is by checking all fluids. It’s easy and doesn’t cost any money. And obviously they will tell you if anything is seriously wrong. If that all checks out I would look at the fuel system. Maybe replace the the fuel filter and check the carburetor/throttle body for any sort of debris. The fuel pump/sending unit in the tank has a sock on the bottom of it that is sucks fuel through and those can become clogged. So it might be worth checking if you don’t find anything else.

Well it could be a few different things. Does the engine still turnover and just won’t start?
@@HaydenClarkbbg the engine turns over and runs I did move it back and forth in my driveway

@@HaydenClarkbbg For the back and forth yes the idle is a little rough and I would say starting it up but it’s not as bad as the idle is

So it actually had two dead cylinders. So I replaced the spark plugs and now it runs great. It will be in the next episode.
