Me too, my Parent's, my siblings along with other relatives we would have our own dancing Soul Train lines. 1970s & 1980s my fondest memories. My gosh I missed those days of dancing fun. Nowadays with this Historically pandemic my State has banned dancing and we are on curfew😷🤦🏾♀️
Love how he’s so eloquent when he speaks. 💙👑 I think it’s so sweet how he was shy but so lively in his outfit & dancing. Also the Diana Ross moment is so EPIC 🌟
I live in Los Angeles and use to go to Mavericks Flat Saturday nights in late 70's and early 80's. A lot of the Soul Dancers hung out there and it was so much fun. Nonstop dancing, never any societal issues or drug use, including marijuana. A family friend from Detroit saw Fred "Rerun" Barry at a club and begged me to ask him to take a pix (Polaroid), I bet she still has it today. To see the Soul Train dancers have led successful lives and are thriving makes me happy.
The one thing I noticed is how the dancers always speak about how someone helped them. I love hearing people giving other people their acknowledgement for giving them a hand up. This series is amazing and I love the stories! (Mostly the clothes) :)
Of course I remember you dancing on Soul Train because I watched every single episode. Your style and dance moves were indeed unique and memorable. After high school, I dreamed of going to LA and becoming a dancing on Soul Train.
Evette “Legs” Moss went to my church for years when I was little. She was the nicest and most genuine person there. I didn’t find out she was on Soul Train until I saw her face on the video and was like “Wait! I know her!” Glad I got to know her without any background of her time with Soul Train.
I like that Soul Train gave everyone a chance to be "hood celebrities". It made them feel good about themselves, gave them a creative outlet, and gave them stories to tell. And seeing them - people who look like "us" - made us feel good ourselves, too. They were living a dream for us all. Beautiful Black folk and POC, looking good and dancing freely as if the world was never against us. I wasn't born until 1990, but I love the nostalgia!
Mr Marco I thought I was the only one who was uncomfortable doing the Soul Train Line. Like you I was a bit shy, nervous and not extremely comfortable with the spotlight being on me, I do now regret NOT taking advantage and seizing the opportunity presented however I will always cherish my SOUL TRAIN experience. Also like you SOUL TRAIN allowed me to mingle with some of my favorite artists many of whom have become friends or at least acquaintances. I am humbled to this day by this blessing. Your Lionel Richie experience sounds similar to my Prince experience. Glad to see you are still doing good, Be blessed my Brother, family forever, LOVE PEACE AND CHICKEN GREASE
Marco is the man! 76 to92 is a hell of a run. I think Martin Lawrence created the "Jerome" character after him. Though I will say he dressed much better than Jerome and in the 80's in L.A. it was common to see dudes with whipped perms around town but most of them looked like they just got out the pen and you wouldn't dare say anything to them about their hair...lol
He seems like a great guy to know. I always wanted to dance on soul train but I lived in the San Joaquin Valley while in the Navy so that made it impossible. These dancers are all so nice and it makes me feel like I missed out. I'm glad my friend Terry who was also in the Navy was stationed in L.A. got to dance on the show. It was really cool watching him on soul train.
For those who was born after this show had aired! It was a privilege to say I was one of the many ghetto kid's bugging out on Saturday mornings! I'm one who sat in the middle of the floor looking for your favorite dancers ( dancing, fashion, and music ). I just turned 48 December 24, 1972.
As I said time and again, majority of the _ST_ dancers from years past continue to _not_ age _AT ALL_ and that's a fact! You couldn't attempt to reboot _ST_ today. That was a moment in time!!!
G L, the profile picture is from the Actor whom played Mad Dog. The head Gang member on Good Times. And the Character J J ended up getting shot by him.
The best part was at end when he knew it was time step aside and let the new generation do their thing without being bitter and jaded about it. Respect.
how can he put them down. he even said their style of dancing was more vigorous and aggressive to the point that he couldn't keep up anymore. i don't know about you but if people can run faster and jump higher and do things i can't do i have little to no excuse to put anyone down.
@@cosmeticscameo8277 he had no reason to. If you watch some of the other interviews some of the older dancers were talking about the style of dress and dance from the hip hop crowd. Saying they just wore anything and weren’t classy.
