Nice to see that you are using the good metalwork from the donor car to repair the project car. Don't throw anything useable from the donor away. It's always good to have spare parts on hand.
I have a soft spot for these generation 8 series. They have aged very well and still look modern today.
I worked for the NHS and one of the Consultants had a 840i. I kept my eye on it as I wanted to buy it, but he traded it in before I had a chance to make an offer.
I hope your rebuild goes ok.

The BMW E31 is just gorgeous, such a timeless design! I'm very jealous of the UK market - they got the most individual models and yet the prices are so much cheaper compared to Germany.
They def on the rise here..
How much they go for there?
@@The777Garage The older models with the 4.0 M60 engine start at about €20k, at least €25k for a decent one. The ones with the 4.4 M62 like yours are €35-40k.

RHD makes them cheaper, thats why many bring old bimmers in beautiful shape to europe for parts
Really like your "can do "approach
You could feed 12V to each injector and give it a slight tap (one by one), and it usually starts working, and goes back to working normally after that.
Could do that if wouldn’t have spare ones,in this case easier and quicker swap the lot

I can't stand working on a dirty car. Guess I'm a neat freak. Of all the 90's BMWs, this gem is closest to my heart. I drive a 2001 740i which is a dream car but I'd give it away today for a 840I
When you change a front wheel bearing on a car such as the E90, keep the old bearings in the hub, weld the flanges of the hub to a frame, fit some old disc rotors and you have solid wheels to move around your cars.

Don't throw a single part away!....many no longer made. Interior cosmetic items impossible to find. Make sure you save everything you can take off this car!

Depending what you tow..but exactly that ifor Williams is good but feels heavy…so for my needs def “Polish style” ,bought it new and does perfect job and feels light..

Seasons Greetings Ed! Always liked your channel, but REALLY like it now! I have been trying to restore a 1998 840Ci for a few years now. I'm afraid lots of ill health has got in the way. (I am 69 years old now) so it is still a way off finishing. Inevitably, there will still be some parts I need, can I hook up with you at some time in the future?

@@The777Garage Thanks Ed. I'll be in touch if that's OK. yes, I'm fairly passionate about BMW's. My daily drive is an E46 325Ci M Sport in Imola red, superb car. I also have a 1989 E34 535i in Alpine white which I have owned since 1995, that is still needing more work, but all the hard stuff is done. I do all my own work including the paint. I also have a 1996 MK3 Golf Gti that I have restored and painted.
Do they both have sport seats? Btw are you selling some of the parts you wouldnt be using from the other 8?
