These cars here are wider than the current cars. Ok, they're a lot shorter, but people were complaining in 1998 when the cars were smaller still... The car size has an impact, but it's not the real reason for lack of overtaking. It's braking distance and turbulence. Another huge reason, is the fact drivers back then could easily miss shift with a manual gearbox.

Questa cosa di Monaco del paulista che durante le prove stava in pista solo per disturbare gli altri me la ricordo ancora... mi fece sùbito capire di che "pasta" fosse fatto.
Alboreto strameritava quel mondiale. È stato un grande campione e un uomo onesto.
