My boyfriend bought HK Onyx Studio 5 and did not regret at all! His first option was JBL extreme 2 but was hesitant right after he heard the bass quality of HK.
Welcome back Toni. You did a really thorough assessment. If sound quality was the only criteria, definitely the Studio 5. You hear and feel the weight of the music. Everything else, the Exreme 2.
HYDRO KING harman kardon will sound better most of the time jbl is built to be ultra durable and portable and have good sound at the same time harman kardon just focuses on the sound and nothing else which is fine but I still prefer jbl
Actually the one that is playing is the jbl xtreme 2... Because he said that he made a mistake where when xtreme 2 was showed onyx was playing... And when onyx was showed xtreme 2 was playing so...
Just brought the jbl extreme 2 and i am happy it got deep bass and good sound. But i have to admit the harman kardon studio 5 beat the extreme 2 because it has deeper strong bass. If i new that i should have bought the harman kardon studios 5 over the jbl extreme 2.
Actually at "liar liar" as a song i already really know I noticed that Xtreme 2 is better cause onyx felt missing the dynamic sound xtreme 2 gives you .. but the bass of onyx is so deep though
Nice post! Definitely a use case scenario for me. I bought the Xtreme2 as I use it for work and outdoor use where ruggedness, waterproofing and battery life are key. Plus the JBL connect is nice as many friends and family have speakers, and I have several too 😜 Same audio group so don’t understand why they don’t just run the same software.
The JBL Xtreme 2 retails for $300 US MSRP whilst the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 5 retails for $480 US MSRP. It has came to my personal attention that for some reason people have been buying Onyx Studios (including me) for 1/3 of the retail through the years, causing me to think that the Onyx Studio is somewhat of a "fire sale".
I have both and honestly love them both but I can't get over the strong base in the studio 5 like it has the base that I believe the Boombox or the next Boombox should have. Screw the mono crap when you turn it up to about half volume you hardly notice the mono the bass coming out of this thing is ridiculous if you're going to be inside a lot and can only buy one of these two I recommend the studio V now if you're going to be in and out regularly go with the extreme too but definitely plug it in when you're inside I can't stand the fact that JBL Limited it to literally half its power when operating off the battery it sounds so much better and Fuller when connected to the wall! I hope the Xtreme 3 or Boombox 2 has the same bass as the studio V that's how good the studio V bass is!!!!
@@Seba-35 Not in loundness and when I tested the bass of the onyx 5 I was disapointed. I mean, the bass eat litteraly the treble, and its really the verb "eat" that is exact. The treble drop down to let some bass.

Harman Kardon sounds amazing! JBL is really good, but this kind of Kitchen radio sounding is becoming outdated already. I like the sophisticated sound of the Onyx Studio 5 better. I heard that model 6 isn't better than studio 5. They should back to model five to study what they did there and make an improvement for model 7 to have the same feeling with STEREO sound! PLEASE!
The onyx 5 uses a 5 inch woofer thus sound more full bodied like a true bookshelf speaker. What is disappointing is that battery life is still low. You only get 2 hrs at full volume. By the way , which sounds louder at full volume between the two in ac mode.
Makes no sense why HK is using such tiny batteries in thier Onyx series. There is plenty of space inside of those housings and the batteries are not that expensive. This is the fifth generation of the Onyx and HK keeps making the same bad battery decision.
Got mines yesterday love it mad the bass is just insane man. It loud but cud have been louder only like 4db louder than the charge on battery but it’s sound bigger because of the bass and more full and much clearer as well. Also anyone have the problem when they go from plug to battery it messes with the sound and it sound like the woofer is blown

What I currently found on the market here in Slovakia and partially meet my expectation are NAIM MU-SO , JBL Authentics L16, B&W Zeppelin, Samsung VL 550, Teenage Engineering OD 11. What I am looking for are deep punchy base, and I like to listen to loud music. So something which fill my living room (4x6 meters) with nice loud bass-full music. The top of my budget is the price of NAIM MU-SO so something around 1300 Eur. So please, Can you help/ suggest me something from the list or something I don't heard about. THank you so much in advance. Fan from Slovakia.
It's not louder it's clarity you must have bad ear, even wen he mixed up the wrg speakers you can tell the JBL just sounds terrible compared to it's leading brand

Sterio better on JBL i would prefer that esp when watching moviews. I am using xtreame still miss my denon at my home with the dts effect.. i shoudl have brought another home theater.

At 30% volume ( or less ) easily 8 hours. At 50% maybe 5 or 6 hours. However in most cases at 40% it already fills up the room at its enough. If you want loud listening plug it in, it’ll sound more punchy.
Grade im Classic und Pop Bereich wo weniger Bass verwendet wird kommt die Brillianz bei Harman Kardon raus. Da kann Jbl einfach nicht mithalten... das sind halt einfach Wummslautsprecher um die Kids zu beeindrucken aber mit Hifi hatt das nichts zutun.
Ich würd die Kamera nicht wo ganz anders auf den Lautsprecher richten, da man die Distanz zum Lautsprecher nicht einschätzen kann. Irgendwie hab ich so kein gutes Gefühl beim Soundtest

@@speakertoni2680 Listening to your microphone out of headphones is in no way a good replica of the actual sound. Even more so considering most people don’t have good neutral headphones, even less with a proper amp.
@@toinehoes5845 Neutral headphones can be found for relatively cheap. You don’t need a dedicated amp to get a flatter response in this case. And even when listening to headphones that aren’t neutral the recording is still good enough to get a relative comparison between both speakers. I wouldn’t post a video like this if I hadn’t done my own tests first.

I would buy the HK if it would be waterproof. I am using the BT speaker mostly when outside shooting photos.

Most of the electronics are the same in both.JBL is owened by harmon which is owned by samsung. All comes down to the styling with the two

i'm pretty sure onyx5's sound signature is boring and monotonous, lack of edge. everything sounds round and smooth. onyx5 has too much warm color
