i agree with brazilian director Pedro Cardoso when he says that nudity is a "narrative crisis"!! because nudity reduces the actor to his own persona!!! it is very hard to connect the nudity to a character because it is always the person, the actor and not the character we are seeing!! that is why is always like: emmy rossum naked and not fiona or sharon stone leg crossing and not catherine tramell´s leg crossing, etc...!!!

@@bluesmoke8 I agree, in retrospect her character was at times. The writers constantly made her the main story arc and for that reason I feel “Fiona” really carried the show. How could she not? The writers, producers etc. formulated the show that way.
Lip is actually my favorite & I’ve always liked his story lines the best. Tits sell more it seems & so they made her the arc. That’s why it failed when she left.

Taking that into consideration this was a decent interview Emily just rubs me the wrong way she seems stuck up.

Emmy's spontaneity just reeks of her positive self assurance which equals raw sexuality. She was born for the role and I was so pleased to see this video that proves it! I absolutely agree with her views on sexuality in America as I was saying the same thing 35 years ago that we use sex to sell everything however the puritan religious bullshit still permeates thru our society says it is taboo. Huh? I don't think the interviewer was horrible, just gay and therefore didn't know how to ask appropriate questions that would relate more to the male audience.

Shameless (especially episodes in season one and two) is a masterclass in story telling. Think like the musical cats. It’s a large spectacular Broadway production that’s literally set in a junk yard amongst trash. Shameless takes that and runs with it by telling completely real and relatable stories with the backdrop of the wild south side of Chicago.

I'm not sure about the whole "in Europe there isn't that much violence" part of her speech, but I do agree with the fact that America is very anti-nudity. Personally, I think this is part of the reason why Skins US didn't have as much success as Skins UK.
Although I don't have any numbers to back it up, I tend to agree about the violence part. Besides American society being very puritan, it seems to glorify violence a lot in the media(generalising!). Add to that the fact that you can pretty much get a gun on any streetcorner (hyperbole!) and you get a more violent society.

I actually agree with her about the nudity. America is so uptight about nudity and want to shield so much from children, but not realizing that not all children are raised exactly alike. Some children have seen the things that happen on Shameless and it has been actually been beneficial for their growth because nothing seems impossible for them. I'm not saying sit your 7-year-old down and let him watch a few episodes but just try teaching your child that your house is not everyone's reality.

I love Fiona's character, and I think my husband secretly has a crush on her. lol But she is a beautiful woman and a wonderful actor! We just recently renewed our Showtime subscription, because we had cancelled it and went with another one for a few years, so we just recently discovered 'Shameless'. I recorded every single season (all 10 of them) and binge watched them in about two weeks - saw the last one yesterday. Now we can't wait for the last one, Season 11, to start and are hoping they bring Fiona back for it. Oh, and now when my husband and I speak of someone getting really, really angry, we call it "Going Gallagher". ;)

Emmy kinda seems like a cash-first Douche.... I mean this isn't your BEST interview chemistry, but.... After I heard she left the Show because they wouldn't match OR beat HC Macy's contracts numbers, I was happy to see her go. They even helped her by writing her off nicely. Wish her well, but glad to see it all end after many entertaining years into Frank's "Mary Poppins" ending and the massive spiral that the show ended up nose-diving into.

I haven't seen all of Shameless yet but the whole "equal opportunity nudity" thing is only so true. Like you see full frontal nudity of the women, usually the breasts, all the time. But for guys it's usually their back, showing their ass instead of the front, including at the very end of the intro sequence. It's not just Showtime though, this is like all the premium cable networks, however recently we have been seeing more full frontal nudity in shows like Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire (later in the series) but those are on HBO.
I'm glad you didn't take "No" for an answer. I cant think of a better fit for this role than you. You do such an amazing job.

I just love Emmy, she's gorgeous and whatever "Fiona" did in Shameless, besides Frank she was always my favorite 🖤 I was hoping SOOO MUCH that she would come back, at least for the final episode when Frank died (I read she was pregnant at that time PLUS there's Covid, so it's completely understandable that she doesn't "came back" at the time the last episode(s) where filmed)
But DAMN! The moment when Frank thought the Lady that watched after him in hospital would be Fiona and he "saw" all them when they were little at the very beginning of Shameless... I shed SO many tears 😢 Though I kind of knew Shameless would end with Frank's death when he showed first symptoms of dementia... 😔
Shameless is one of the best shows EVER! 🖤 There's not a single character I REALLY disliked and I'd never thought that Shameless would be still good after Fiona left but it was 🖤 I am DEFINITELY going to watch the whole show again someday!

I went through terrible times in those years shameless was on screen and it always cheered me up seeing there's a new season coming up 🧡 I was high a lot while watching Shameless over the years and there are probably a BUNCH of episodes I can't even remember... 😂
I always had a soft spot for Frank even when he was the most horrible father EVER bc I know too well how drugs turn you into a completely different person than you actually are.
Actually it's pretty tragic but those moments when you realized that Frank actually DOES care for his kids and loves them but in the end addiction won, it was hilarious. But seeing him in the last season, developing more and more symptoms of dementia caused by his heavy alcohol and drug abuse... Idk... It was just sad and it left me with the question: What does it cost you to choose drugs over everything.
