Excellent video. I assume that in 4 years of use you have maintained your boots, washing and conditioning them. What is your experience with that? I see that it maintains that unique Tobaco factory color. What products do you use so that they don't change the color of the leather and it stays the same?
These boots might not be technically waterproof, but I have found they can be submerged up to the laces. I work on a boat and I’ve never had an issue with water intrusion. In addition to made in the USA, they’re made by union workers too!
You can use products like snoseal or mink oil to make them waterproof. It will make them darker though. Also some of the models have waterproofing but only in certain sizes.

@@gentwithin. I went to the boot store. I wanted red wing's because they feel good, last a long time and made in America. They have hundreds of pairs of boots. ALL brands, l looked at RED wing's, to my surprise, made in China. Sometimes made in other places. They told me the America made were expensive. Really, these were 175,225 dollars. So l ask about brand's. I found thorogood. Look em up. They gave me a discount when l ordered THEM.
just looked it up...looks like 25% of their boots are still made in the USA while over 25% made in china and the rest from other countries like Cambodia and Vietnam.
wrap both the left and right lace around the back of the boots. There should be enough length to do so. Then finish it off as you would normally tie up your laces.
Thorogood boots are fantastic, and I own a couple pairs. I recommend them to people with total confidence. I have a decent amount of experience with them, and I see them frequently on job sites and in public(Midwest winter.) I find it very hard to believe you've worn them for 4 years on any kind of regular basis. They just don't look like that anymore after a few dozen wears. Not to say they wear poorly. They look amazing after being broken in. I just don't think you've worn yours much. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I only wear them during late fall through winter and I don't work on job sites. They're just everyday casual boots for me and so they don't get beat up, hence why they look so clean. But I've had 'em the past 4 winter seasons and worn em several dozen times at least. And I agree, great boots.
Great video .Just purchased my pair a week ago , I went true to size and they fit great . I was impressed on how comfortable they are out the box . Coming from Red wings this feels like the breaking period is going to be much faster. Paid $220 for my pair at my local store .
I haven't experienced this. I've worn them in snow and some rainfall, but i'm not jumping around in puddles or anything so take that with a grain of salt
I was thinking about making a joke about them being work boots but these cancerous comments really took it out of me lol I'm happy you don't have to use them as actual work boots. To all the salty people in the comments, the world needs ditch diggers. The rest of us can choose to wear these whenever the fuck we want lol
I dont use the waxed laces. Straight leather. If you are just wearing them they stay tied all day. But if you are working in them they will not stay tied unless you double knot them. Strong laces tho
I enjoyed the video great content. I had a pair of 814-4200 and enjoyed every bit of wearing them (even the break in). I used them strictly for work as they were so comfy but rugged and looked great. Great value for the price. One thing I didnt like was the loose grain. Keep up the great content brother! One question: what are you using to film with? Thanks in afvance!
hey man, thanks for dropping by. glad you enjoyed the video! for my talking heads i'm still using my phone 😆 and the boot shots were with my friend's canon, not quite sure the model or the lens...
@@gentwithin well the quality is plenty good so keep it up! Check out my you tube channel when you have a chance. Definitely not on your level of production but I keep it light and my approach is a little different from most boot vids.
They’re great with a bomber jacket and khakis? Nah, I just love them bc they are comfortable and keep my toes safe from falling stone and bricks. But if they accent your jeans or shirts, so be it.
this is a channel centered around menswear and so my focus is always on style first. but yeah, they're highly functional for construction workers as well
For 275 a pair , mine where completely junk. Soul wore out first not even close to wolverines durability, they are complete junk if your wanting them to work in.
What does being a gentleman have to do with the way one dresses? I'd say it's more about how one behaves. It more so comes from within a person, not just appearances.
Nope not a work boot. I tried to give them a chance but they have failed. Probably the worst pair of boots I’ve ever owned. They look good that’s about it. Toe box is tight and heel/ankle sloppy loose. My first pair I bought was a wide and I thought that I bought the wrong size. So I bought another pair not wide though and I have the same problem. Junk boots don’t waste your money!
I’m curious what you do wear? I’ve had everything from red wing, wolverines, brunt, danner… Where none of them last me even a year, the thorogoods have held up the best. Actually, the red wings sole wore out the quickest. I did have them resoled and they were just heavy and uncomfortable after that. Have yet to try Nick’s, but it’ll happen eventually.
Gentleman Within no offense, I'm Mexican and always called Puerto Rican. I just picked up these boots, getting some pressure on the top of my foot causing some discomfort. Kinda where the stiching meets the toe box. Is this normal?
Because they are work outdoor boots. Lol.. .. I just like wearing them cause the are cool looking. Oh no they get dirty? Millinials! These aren't even the best boots. They last 4 year's because you don't use them for the type of work they were build for.

Very comfortable, I worked overtime this past Saturday 12 hours and Sunday 8 hours. Feet felt great, rest of me is another story. I did change out the insoles though. I most likely will only get a year out of them though. They are worn everyday.

I have had mine 6 months and like them a lot. I've had red wing, and these are very good. There also made in America, most red wing's are not.!
Really, I'm surprised about Red Wing..Obviously Thorogood is made in America...they proudly shout it to the rooftops with that little ribbon..
My size is 41 shoes can order same boot or be different size? Thnx✨
what do you mean? i'd say the boots fit true to size, so get the boot size you normally wear.
They’re 275 now at boot barn.
inflation is real!
Thanks for the video! Legit boot. Comfortable and stylish......work very well with jeans.
Yessir. That it does!
How the hell you do that heel lock lacing?
should be some tutorials on YT. or maybe i'll create one using these boots!
@@gentwithin a tutorial on the way you do it would be awesome. I couldn't find any that resemble yours.
@@RE-vl8ii alright, i'll definitely consider it then!
How do you lace them like in the pic
wrap both the left and right lace around the back of the boots. There should be enough length to do so. Then finish it off as you would normally tie up your laces.
With all
The recent covid issues, demands etc. Made in the USA should be a major reminded what should change
??
I love mine. The weight = Quality and makes you stronger haha.
nice, glad to hear your thorogoods are treating you well
Thorogood boots are fantastic, and I own a couple pairs.
Would you recomend this pair or a pair of irish setters from red wing?
Don't think you were asking me, but I think red wing's version of this boot looks great.
I order me a pair in black color, I got my for carpentry work.
I love the black colorway for the 6" moc toe too
Enjoyed your review
cool! glad you enjoyed it.
Thorogood has versions that are insulated, versions with steel toe, and versions that are waterproof
Yes, have you tried any of those?
Great video .Just purchased my pair a week ago , I went true to size and they fit great . I was impressed on how comfortable they are out the box . Coming from Red wings this feels like the breaking period is going to be much faster. Paid $220 for my pair at my local store .
Thanks! They are quite comfortable, especially with the cushioned insole. Does it feel a bit narrow at all for you?
I saw a reviewer say the soles on these soak up water on rainy days and make them squishy. Is this true?
I haven't experienced this. I've worn them in snow and some rainfall, but i'm not jumping around in puddles or anything so take that with a grain of salt
Great, simple on point review. Thank you
you're welcome!
3,71 weight only one ? or both
both
Beautifull workboot and so smooth to wear it,i actually have a pair of those 🙂😉😮.
That's great to hear man. These boots are so durable and their ruggedness is unrivaled. Which colorway do you have?
@@gentwithin tobacco oil tanned.
Are they water proof I work in carwash and want something durable I walk all day and spend maybe two days on water
I wouldn't to water proof, but they are water resistant. you can also apply waterproofing spray to it
Great info.
Glad you liked the vid!
just ordered these!
Nice! in tobacco?
@@gentwithin yes, same ones. using them for work 5-6 days a week
@@DaneFerolin well, how do you like them?
@@jolkraeremeark6949 I highly recommend these boots!!! I wear them 5 days a week. Extremely comfortable! Extremely high quality
I was thinking about making a joke about them being work boots but these cancerous comments really took it out of me lol
I'm happy you don't have to use them as actual work boots. To all the salty people in the comments, the world needs ditch diggers. The rest of us can choose to wear these whenever the fuck we want lol
exactly.
Most people own a running/tennis shoe of some kind. Most people aren't runners.
nice review man
thank you, Kevin!
love these boots
glad to hear it!
I love thorogoods. Hate the laces. They look good but dont stay tied. I use leather laces.
I actually think they stay tied better than waxed leather laces...
I dont use the waxed laces. Straight leather. If you are just wearing them they stay tied all day. But if you are working in them they will not stay tied unless you double knot them. Strong laces tho
gotcha. they are strong laces. i like 'em
Definitely not on your level of production but I keep it light and my approach is a little different from most boot vids.
super late with the reply, but keep up the good work!
Nice review .
thanks man! new to the channel?
@@gentwithin, Yes , I like your straight forward style and honest opinion.
welcome. hope i give ya reason to stick around 👌
Chulada de botas de trabajo
I don't speak spanish..sorry!
I got mine on sale at amazon for $135.00 ..
that's a good deal! kudos
Those are 4 year old boots!?!?! Lol i just bought the same boots for work yesterday and they already look beat to shit today
Also i wear a size 13 running shoe...I actually had to size up to 14 for these boots, even though the consensus is to basically size a half size down
lol, you must be doing some intense work. they are pretty tight. I think sizing up may be a good idea.
Kool beans good job
thx! 🤙
nice boot
yup! it's great
Did anyone notice skunk on the video?😂
250 bucks as of Oct 2022
inflation is a helluva drug.
Pro tip....wait until your wife has a good Kohl’s coupon, and buy your Thorogoods on kohls.com for $150.....you’re welcome
lol, nice!!
You can tell this guy has never worked a hard day in his life.
you're right. it's an easy road when you love what you do 👌 wish the same for you
Gentleman Within now you gotta send him a vid of you chopping wood with an axe to prove him wrong😂
@@deadlymig123 🤣🤣
They’re great with a bomber jacket and khakis? Nah, I just love them bc they are comfortable and keep my toes safe from falling stone and bricks. But if they accent your jeans or shirts, so be it.
this is a channel centered around menswear and so my focus is always on style first. but yeah, they're highly functional for construction workers as well
Not *literally* everything
Hard to break in? NO!
those are 4 years old? damn son go outside lol
i don't work on a construction site. as i mentioned in the vid i wear 'em for style.
Ew you tie em nasty
that's the style!
How about wear them to a job site like there supposed to be ?
people can wear what they want when they want.
For 275 a pair , mine where completely junk. Soul wore out first not even close to wolverines durability, they are complete junk if your wanting them to work in.
you serious? i don't believe you.
So you like to look like a hard worker? X P
Get some logger boots and you'll feel like a giant..
so what are you saying? never tried logger boots before!
Lol 4 years....guess you can tell you don’t work in them.
I don't. I bought them for the style. just so happens they're also fantastic work boots.
Workwear esthetic. God people are turning true boots into little princess city shoes
versatility's the name of the game
But do you have calluses on you're hands lol pretend away
No offence but your not dressed like a gentleman
What does being a gentleman have to do with the way one dresses? I'd say it's more about how one behaves. It more so comes from within a person, not just appearances.
Hipster
fine with me
Nope not a work boot.
I’ve had everything from red wing, wolverines, brunt, danner…
Where none of them last me even a year, the thorogoods have held up the best. Actually, the red wings sole wore out the quickest. I did have them resoled and they were just heavy and uncomfortable after that. Have yet to try Nick’s, but it’ll happen eventually.
American made, reviewed by a Chinese dude that only wears them when he goes and hangs with his buds playing fortnite.
Bruh, I'm Viet.
Gentleman Within no offense, I'm Mexican and always called Puerto Rican. I just picked up these boots, getting some pressure on the top of my foot causing some discomfort. Kinda where the stiching meets the toe box. Is this normal?
how can you no offense after that? lol. Seems normal part of the break in period..as long as you're not in real pain.
@@gentwithin lol
Because they are work outdoor boots. Lol.. .. I just like wearing them cause the are cool looking. Oh no they get dirty? Millinials! These aren't even the best boots.
They last 4 year's because you don't use them for the type of work they were build for.
yeah, and my audience won't be wearing these for work either. you're clearly not in my audience and so i couldn't care less what your opinion is.
@@gentwithin cared enough to reply! I know the audience that follows this type of dressing up B.S.
