Nothing will ever beat the hype feeling I felt as a kid seeing Jack and Davy Jones fighting on top of a mast in the middle of that Maelstrom. This trailer still gets me excited lol
Although, I’m still angry they didn’t keep the music during the actual scene. Like you, when I saw this trailer I got goosebumps during that but then let down when it wasn’t the case in the movie 😞
idk why but Jack on top of the Flying Dutchman full on crossing blades with Davy Jones just screams badass... whoever pitched that idea deserved a raise
As awesome as that is, it also makes for a good example of how most of the effort with the sequels went into the fanfare rather than the films themselves.
I had never seen a reaction to a trailer like this before I saw it in the theater for the first time. When Davy and Jack’s swords clashed at 1:54 the audience went NUTS.

Mugdha Mahdi Shams Ikr that’s why he said some tho. The majority of us fans all think they’re perfect the trilogy that is. Those who don’t are in the small majority.
The hype that I had back in those days for the premier of this film after watching the trailer are still unmatched by anything else. This was, perhaps, the film for which I was the most excited for ever. Went to the premier in May 2007, I was just 9 years old at the time, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The 2000’s were my decade, and 2007 was one of the best years ever. God, I really miss the good old days.
I'm the same age and it's my childhood as well. The 2000s was such a good decade for movies. Lord of The Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, the first two Narnia films. Ah, the memories
Damn this feels like yesterday. If you are not old enough to remember the hype around this trust me it was huge. We’d had two golden movies before hand so we thought this was it. I swear I watched this trailer about thousands of times in anticipation for it coming out.
@HQ I was about 15 that time ahahaha.... 2006?? So at worlds end was one of my anticipations which came out in 2007, as well as harry potter order of the phoenix, as I was a new diehard fan then of both franchise, haven't seen the previous films on cinema... lotr, I wasnt sure when it came out of cinema... but I have seen the trilogy on dvd only... I prefer the hobbit trilogy ;)
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will always have a special place in my heart. Same goes as the Marvel, Dc Harry Potter, LOTR and Starwars franchises. If only Disney makes one last movie with this, a 6th one to finish the whole saga.
Oh man, the hype for this movie was real. Curse Of The Black Pearl -> At World's End are a classic example of a trilogy done right. It made threads in Curse, expanded upon them in Dead Man's Chest, and wrapped them up in At World's End. I will defend On Stranger Tides as a epilogue but it's much harder to defend Dead Men Tell No Tales as it breaks and retcons alot of previously established lore but I will say, Geoffrey Rush gave 100% as expected and went out like a true pirate, defending his most prized treasure.
One of the greatest trailers I've ever seen along with the GoT season 4 trailer, Infinity Wars (the music of this trailer was ba though) and the BotW story trailer.
Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End is my favourite movie, because the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman are my favourite ships and good that they fought around Calypso's maelstrom, while their captains, Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones also fought each other. It also plays the epic battle music.

I turned 10 years old in 2007. To those of you who may not remember, let me give you some context to this trailer, which itself is a cinematic masterpiece. The last we saw, our heroic captain was eaten alive by the Kraken, his beloved Pearl dragged to the depths, and Cutler Beckett was in possession of Davy Jones' heart. For fans, these were dark and uncertain times. Then this trailer drops, which opens with a twofold promise: The junk boat, canonically an unprecedented style of vessel, indicates this will be *unlike anything we've ever seen* ; and the shot of a certain dead man's compass undeniably portends his very return, compounded by Tia Dalma's closing monologue from DMC, her steeling question to the audience of our worthiness to the mission before us. As she readies us for the journey ahead, we are shown, as Alice from 'Wonderland' calls them, "Impossible Things". An inverted ship underwater, the very edge of the world, and the purgatory where we find Jack. (We've seen undead pirates since Elizabeth escaped to the moonlight deck of the Pearl in CotBP... but to venture beyond the veil of life itself?) -Then, of course, Jack with the sarcastic sentimental disappointment that he was resurrected, not just because he's a beloved character, but for everyone else's ends. What are these ends? What have we been called upon to accomplish?? Only a captain who knows these waters can answer such a question, "Our time is coming to an end." Even at 10, the existential dread was palpable. "Why should I sail with any of you?", Jack asks. No one trusts anyone, even Will and Elizabeth have doubts. "Our enemies have united," continues Barbossa, "and vowed to destroy us." They have a common goal to exterminate pirates, and with frayed alliances, their only hope is to band with all pirates from across the map. ("That's a sad commentary in and of itself.") As we see these pirates, much like the junk boat, we are given a glimpse of the global scope of this dreadful concern. Again, we are promised something we've never seen or imagined, "There's not been a gathering like this in our lifetime." -as if Barbossa knows theatergoers would unite in unwavering support of the fight to be had. Cue Beckett, aware that now the stalwart audience knows we face extinction. "All that remains is for them to make their final stand." If we weren't with Jack and Hector before, now we were sworn crewmembers. Another montage of Impossible things. Sailing into the abyss -"ARE YE MAD?!", the battle across the watery void, The Black Pearl surfing a dune, a ship plummeting over the waterfall at world's end, a world map of concentric revolving rings, Will's mid-battle proposal to Elizabeth... and oh my god, the blood-raising yardarm swashbuckling between Jones and Sparrow who has the chest in his (upper) hand?? With Captain Jack's conviction that we couldn't make this mad mission work without his clever antics and blowing smoke from his iconic pistol, the shot of which we know he saves only for worthy and just execution, the trailer ends assuring us of our victory without us even knowing. In 2007, we were so ready, and yet so unprepared for the end.
Not really. You need to see the movie to understand the context. Nobody would understand that shot as Will Turner being the captain of the Flying Dutchman.
Still remember asking my parents to let me use the PC just to watch this trailer. One of the first movie trailers that blew me away with the soundtrack and editing 1:40 onwards is perfection.
