I recall once hearing that the Penn Station to Montauk direct Cannonball train (or whatever it was called in the past) was considered a long-distance train officially in terms of federal rail classifications because it was more than 100 miles long. Can anyone confirm this?
@Bklynkid52 thanks. I knew the length it was just odd that the US government classified it as a long distance passenger train. I'm completely fine with that and actually it makes me want to ride it again. It's just one of those factoids I saw on some documentary once and have not seen it ever since.
@@nathanielcoleman5694 It’s a standard interval on the schedule. There’s a train that starts from Speonk that makes all stops to Babylon if people need service to/from Patchogue.

@@paulhodges9740 That is correct. It still is called the Cannonball. I think it’s officially 110 miles from Penn Station to Montauk.
