Sometimes we make stupid decisions, but you always need reasses call it quits if it gets too dangerous.
I know exactly where you guys are. I remember one arvo, night session I got 5 snapper all over 65, 3 bream around 38-40. 2 jackets, 4 silvers and 2 kings. My mate did 1 king 3 snapper 6 bream and 2 silvers (I have the pics to prove it). Epic night.I remember we had to stop every few minutes when we walked out of there with the gear and the fish. Believe it or not all of this was caught on a 5/0 hook and size 6 ball sinker, I run a 6.5 Alvey on a 13.6 rod and my mate uses a 7 Alvey on a 13.6. Try an Alvey boys, bait is the go. Good video and good you guys called it when it started to look sketchy.
We need to try using bait there, but Alveys looks hard to use

Can’t believe you guys went to that spot in 2m swell haha crazy! I know some guys that lost over $8,000 worth of gear when the tide changed to rising tide in 2m S swell, a rogue wave washed the ledge in a similar way and all of their gear went into the drink there 😂

Depends on how heavy you want to fish. Some of the brands we use is Palms, Ocean's Legacy, and Shimano rods.

My friend pass away in Newzealand during rock fishing..may 1 2024 it happen, my friends body found next day.. But still other Pearson is missing, my friends name was sarath recently moved to Newzealand from kuwait😢😢😢 search in net for more details, every adventure activities are thrill but it kills, such loss is for his family😢😢😢

Surley council should have like anchor points for rock fishing like on the rock you just clip yuorself to the anchor point
Sydney has a lot of rock ledges. I think the council would simply ban fishing if that was ever a requirement. In declared areas wearing a life jacket is compulsory.
cant expect council to go round every headland n do that just hope these guys dont become the ones we here about on the news life jackets or not
never, they would much rather ban you, cut ladders, cur ropes cut the anchors, cut the steps.

Is L150 PFD life jacket safe and good enough for rock fishing?
Surf Life Saving NSW & Maratime recommends a L50 PFD. The higher the number the more it floats, but it makes it harder to swim.

I have been a angler for 40+ years seen so much stupidly one thing that i always remember that i was told is by an old angler while rock fishing in hetic waves 10ft up a cliff wall he said have you ever herd the sound of a watermelon when you drop it on concrete cause thats the last sound you hear when the guy fishing next to you get hits by a wave and is never seen again thankfully never herd that sound yet and never want to In saying that like yourself washed into a rockpool just how shit can go south real quick no wonder its the most deadly sport you can do
100%, as rock fishermen, we will all face a situation where we make poor judgements. The key is to know the limits & call it quits before it goes bad. Unfortunately there are too many rock fishermen that will push their limits, and many do not come back home.
been in much much wilder, but you need to know your spot, read the waves, know the tide and have an exit.
