- Be the first to see what happens inside Th13teen at Alton Towers as GMTV's presenter Marcella Whittingdale takes a ride. This video shows the whole ride including the whole of the indoor section.
My favourite thing to do when riding Thirteen is, when it gets to the drop section of the ride and it stops, saying “this isn’t supposed to happen” really loudly. Never fails to really freak a few people out.

Imagine what she would be like with the safety bars now.First time i went on this my friend told me it would drop, so when it dropped the first time, i thought it was ok and that the wall would lift up or something and go on. NO. it dropped more and then went backwards. My mates now take the piss out of me and im surprised the whole of england couldn't hear me crying out 'JESUS CHRIST JESUS CHRIST JESUS CHRIST JESUS CHRIST!'

most of the ride is really smooth and not really scream material, but this video really doesn't get across the chaos of fucking aggressive that fall feels combined with being twisted around backwards in pitch black.
plus the speed of the backwards area, my friends still take the piss out of me when i went on that ride when i was 11

I love Alton towers I have been on all of the rides
I went on this yesterday as one of the lucky boot campers to win.
And I have to say, it is an amazing ride.
The only down fall is that the special effects and stuff aren't in yet so when you guys ride it on Saturday it will be SO much better.

this was the first roller-coaster in my life I 100% enjoyed, pitch black on the scare fest, best experience of my life

I went on this yesterday. My 3rd ever coaster (Behind Air and Nemesis). I loved it. Considering i was one of those who always watch others before. Best time to go aswell. Everything was 0 Mins wait. 'Rita' was the longest wait at 15 mins.
Wow lucky, took an hour and a half to get on air for me
I remember watching this when I was like 6 and I was addicted to Alton towers and this ride
And now it's going backwards lol 😂😂😂

Thirteen was amazing ! I got stuck on it after the drop we got stuck. But I went on it so many times it's amazing ♥️♥️

I loved this ride so much I went on this 4 times one after the other.
Its abit of a long going back round to the ride but it was worth it.

Erin Darlington She probably doesn't like roller coasters so even what us die hard coaster fans consider "kiddie" or "family" coasters terrify the crap out of her.
Some people have nervous or even full-on phobic reactions to roller coasters, depending on their preferences, steadiness of their inner equilibrium, and last experiences. I got over my coaster fear when I was about 12 (did small coasters at Disneyland) and did my first looping coaster when I was 15. Now I LOVE them. My husband, however.... He's normally very steady on his feet and not a wimp at all. But when he was younger, he had a really bad experience on a looping roller coaster, and it scarred him. One of our first dates was Disneyland -- and he waited until we were about to board Space Mountain to tell me about his phobia. He didn't want to look like a wussy! I assured him that, despite being in total darkness, the ride doesn't have any surprise inversions. Also, I've ridden it ~100+ times in my life, so I was able to narrate the coming turns and drops, even in the dark.
Short story long -- if you have a phobia, even a smallish coaster like this can be a nightmare.

I was there in the back panicking with both hands over mouth checking I could breathe. My mum was next to me calming me down my sister was on the front screaming (she had her mouth wide open) and my dad was in the front just sitting there dead calm 😂😅

I went on this today, it was a lot better than I thought it'd be, but nothing is going to be Tower of Terrors drop. If you put the two together it would be amazing

Not unless you REALLY hate rollercoasters and something like the Mine Train scares you. Some people might get scared on the indoor bit if they don't know what's going to happen but apart from that it's just a fun ride for families.
I rid this when I was eight and I loved it
I just went on 13 to day for the first time on a school trip . Horrible when you are on it not knowing what will happen , bit when it is finished you want to go on it again ! That's is when you know that it's a good ride

So much. I was in pain for a good 3 days after.
I had to sit down for at least an hour after riding because I couldn't walk due to the sheer pain.
OMG THIS RIDE IS AWESOME
The fact of making a roller coaster include a free fall part is unique? But does it have anything to add? No. Even the ride itself doesn't seem creative compared to many other rides such as The Smiler or rides at Magic Mountain
It's what merlin are calling a pyscoaster. It was the first roller coaster to have a drop tower.
cheunluke You tube rides at Magic Mountain are creative? HA! The only creative coaster they have is X2, the rest are just normal coasters. At least Alton theme their coasters and come up with original, different layouts to make them a little more unique.

Keep your eyes open is a good tip. If you want someone to try a coaster for the first time, then make sure it's a low thrill one, sit at the front and get them to keep their eyes open

Thirteen is actually a fairly tame coaster. I can't imagine what she'd be like on Oblivion 😀

@datamosh The scaffolding is part of the theme. If you look at all the plans and concept art it's meant to be there.

i wanna see it when it's all been decorated and all the scaffolding and fencing taken down, i'm sure the atmosphere will be so much better once that's done . that's what will make the ride! :)
The scaffolding is all part of the theme lol. Won't be going anywhere soon. :P
the ride wasnt finished if you look around, theres still builders and things that needed to be decorated, and theres still bits to be added to it. i thought it looked good, im going soon :)
Corkscrew ceased operation back in '08, this is built on the grounds where the corkscrew stood (next to Rita - best ride imo!). It was just a building site when I went last year, so they must have been working round the clock to get 13 finished.

Vycter not really, It's in the big six challenge, runaway mine train and Congo river rapids are family rides, not th13teen. Besides if it was a family ride, the scary theming would scare the children massively
Thrill Seeker Central loads of kids go on. It’s good for lots of ages. Not to small for adults but big enough for kids.
I went on it when I was 5 and I hated it, now in almost 15 and it's the games thrill ride I've ever been on. It's still enjoyable though
TSC Ruanaway mine train is a junior coaster Th13teen Wickerman and SPINBALL whizzer are family rides meaning they’re made for people generally over the age of 9+

my dad works in the hotels and he just told me that this isnt finished yet and that they have more special effects to put in
@racingcar555 No not blackpool, Thorpe Park has a height limit because of heathrow, they cant go any higher than stealth and Alton Towers arnt aloud above tree line because of where it is built
when i went on it a couple days ago it was a 70 minute wait but then everyone had gone on it at that time so when it came till later on in the day it was only a 10 minute wait

Amani Ahmed it is mainly because of the Seat belt. The lift hill ain’t that high but i has a panic attack because i though the lap bar was not secure enough
