Hello, many thanks for this very detailed intro to this loom that I have been slavering over! I have one question though How noisy is the mechanical version of this loom? do you have some video in which you are using the loom without the usual background music? Anyway, thank you very much for this nice video!! Enjoy Best, Adi
ua-cam.com/users/shortsaaU-UwfvfEs?feature=share. This video has just me talking about double with, but you can also hear the noise that the loom makes. There's not a lot of noise for the mechanical dobby. Most of the noises come from the lever hitting the frame, shafts returning down, or the beater falling back. To me, that is just typical loom noises. Thanks
I also bought an electronic magic dobby a few years ago, but it often lift up the wrong thread. I felt it was a programming problem, I really regret not buying a mechanical one at that time, I felt mechanical loom may less easy to cause problems.
I have a small Facebook group, and someone there also has the electric dobby and is having problems with it. Since I don't have the electric version, do you think you could maybe give tips on it? m.facebook.com/groups/926302815269279/ Thanks
Thank you for this great review. I’m seriously thinking of getting one. Is this heavy to treadle, please, and is the shed big enough to weave on comfortably? Dee
@bobbinmad thanks sorry for the late response. No it's not heavy to treadle but when using all 24 shafts, it could require a little more push. The lever also works if it feels too heavy my treadle. The shed is over an inch and works well is a low profile shuttle. I use a leclerc shuttle just fine.
Hi Katia I don't have the electric dobby for the loom. So I can't review it. As far as how much warp and fabric it can hold, when the beams are moved to the stand you can have a much larger warp. Not sure of the exact maximum it depends on the yarn size used. But from my experience it can hold up to 10 yds. Hope this helps
Thank you very much for this demo. I’ve never seen a dobby loom close up like you have shown. Happy weaving!
Thank you for the very good video. You’ve answered a lot of questions for me.
Thank you so much I was wondering whether to get this since the megado is so expensive. I think I'll take the plunge!

thank you again for this video; indeed, the noise is acceptable
Bye🙂
I find that my Magic Dobby is a quiet loom to weave on.

At times the mechanical dobby will lift my previous picks because shafts didn't return to full rest but not often
