@@VASAviation Wow that was quick. Assuming you're still online, I've always liked this channel! A few years back I saw one of your vids on reccomendations and I watched what feels like a 100 videos a day. UA-cam tried to direct me to other channels when I looked up "ATC real contact" but I knew that your channel was the one I watched a while ago. Thanks for the graphics, the subtitles, the audio. I can really tell you put time into this! I just really enjoy this channel. Thanks and have a good day :)
4:28 American 2098 turn right direct Pottstown. Aircraft flying this waypoint fly right over my home in Pottstown. Great job by the flight crew, Philly ATC and Emergency ground crews. If anyone ever gets the chance to visit Philly for a few days, go for it. It's a great city but keep in mind, it IS a city. Thanks VASAvation for the continued top knotch uploads.
The flight simulations is good, however, Aircraft being used is a DC-9-50! lol MD-90 is a long pencil. I would know cause i fueled ALL of them in Delta's fleet. That was ship 9210
Where can a layman learn about the symbology of the TRACON/STARS screen? It's obvious which bits are aircraft and what the labels mean but then there are different marks, some of which are presumably vectors, some of which seem to be registration marks of some kind, and some others.
Same, not knowing what it's all about makes it difficult to understand the job. Also, the job itself seems more difficult with all these (unrelated ?) symbols while some other would be more useful for the mission. An other question is why are there different kinds of displays ? some are strage like this one while others seem more detailed with hold circuits, waypoints, etc. Can someone please explain ?
@@austinholmes96 Thanks, I missed this one. I learned a bunch of things but I still think some elements are disturbing the view and useful infos are hidden between different aspect pages. It is good that controllers can call for different displays but from the ergonomy point of view, those screens are far from helping and make vision of the situation more difficult than needed. ATC's job could be easier if they had a "brain firendly" display system to help.
Just so you know, your little KPHL graphic is maybe wrong around 6:24-6:28. PHL actually has 4 active runways, not 3! Love your videos :) Edit: thanks for the clarification!
@@VASAviation I work at PHL in airside airport ops and I enjoyed this video and your more recent videos syncing aircraft cockpit and radar with ATC audio. I wanted to add that PHL's airfield layout has significantly changed in the past few years. Runway 27L has been extended to 12,000 feet long instead of 10,506 feet and the taxiway layout between Runway 27R and Runway 27L has also significantly changed. If you could get a more recent digital layout of the airfield for use in your videos that would be great! A running jet engine has a constant fire going on. When the compressor stopped compressing, the intake air slowed down and the still-burning fire heated it more than usual. So, EGT went up until the fuel feed was cut and the engine properly shut down.
For those who may not know; A condition known as tail-pipe fire you shut off the fuel before worrying about fire-extinguisher •• i will guess at catastrophic blade separation cut a fuel line;
It means the aircraft is on final approach to the landing runway (as in, they're lined up with the runway and descending towards it), and they are that many miles away from touching down.
VAS, can you make a video about the medical emergency landing at Seattle, it happened on Monday on a red eye for delta. They flew out and then turned back around because there were no airports opened
They are not only counting passengers, they are also counting crew. I suppose they could say “persons”. Not sure what happens if a passenger dies in flight...are they still considered a ‘soul’?
What do the controllers mean when they say "until established on the localizer"? Does it have anything to do with the ILS automatically controlling an aircraft's descent?
A drone strike would be a very unlikely event. It would take a cosmic coincidence to have a drone hit a plane moving that fast at that rate of climb. And to hit the engine? Highly unlikely. Impossible? Mmm no but very close to impossible. Just my opinion
@@VASAviation doubtful considering the high mounting position for MD engines. Have to work pretty hard to pick up something from the pavement up there, maybe a bird or something, but nothing reported.
So you independently spend the time to seek out all the ATC recordings, videos, etc for this type of stuff? Or the person who does put in the effort to get those recordings, clean them up, edit them, add visuals, etc (which is extremely time demanding) should do all of it for free? It's fucking ridiculous the shit UA-cam creators take in the comment sections regarding supporting themselves. I mean, you obviously came to view the video. Aside from time there are other expenses involved in producing these. There is literally no good reason for there NOT to be monetization....
Thank you, John Holifield for your comment! I really appreciate your support and glad you loved the video. Remember you can give me even more money on my Patreon, that would help a lot. Hoping to see your super useful comments again on my next videos. Best regards!
*Good job everyone!*
And thanks to the subscriber Lau for providing his cool flightsim graphics to animate the video!
@RANCH SAUCE p3d i just forgot pta here
👍🏼
Honestly I prefer the "just the facts" format to using flightsim.
I agree the animations are amazing.
I really liked some flight simulation, also!
Thank you for always adding perfect subtitles. I am hard of hearing and good subtitles always make me happy!
My pleasure!

Just love the fact that there are still Delta MD-90s flying.
Maddog never dies :D
Well, not for long if they start to spit their teeth just after take-off ;-)
Never flown on a MD90, I better hurry up
six eyes good old planes just like c172
American still flew then up to september was the last flight
Absolutely love love the visuals, especially the radar and the car at the end!!! Great job, looking forward to your next video :)
Thank you!
Always love to see Philly doing a great job in these situations.
Nice work! I remember when these airplanes first came out and were introduced! It's amazing how time goes by...
The great Maddog! :D

@@aviationflightsim5149 There is a freeware MD-90 too
It looks fine for the purpose.
Great job! 26th like!! Also, great job to everyone involved in this emergency.

"It's always number 2 that hits the fan."
I'd like to declare an MD-90 passenger emergency; my knees are in my throat and the engine is in my eardrum
3:32 Well, don't ask Norcal! 3:49 Delta 743: It was number one that took a number two.
I loved that the emergency vehicles in the simulation are right hand drive. :)

We can modify what's displayed on the radar scope.

Your such a great person to do this, where in spain are you from?
Espana
Loved the simulation. It gives it a different prospective.
Awesome!
the aircraft mod in the simulation is a MD-80
EGT= exhaust gas temperature
What would cause the engine to fail and EGT to go high? Fire?
A running jet engine has a constant fire going on. When the compressor stopped compressing, the intake air slowed down and the still-burning fire heated it more than usual. So, EGT went up until the fuel feed was cut and the engine properly shut down.
Yo, there are cars in FSX? (Or is that not FSX?)
ARFF car right hand steering wheel 😂
Philly airspace looks like Pac-Man

Perfect Simulation....! Great
ok. I got it, there must be 6 MD employees here. Otherwise I can't imagine how anyone can dislike...
Why did they stay with the departure controller/frequency when they were on approach?
No need to change, no much traffic. Pilots need to focus on their stuff in the cockpit.
What do they mean, ‘5 mile final’, ‘20 mile final’ stuff like that??
It means the aircraft is on final approach to the landing runway (as in, they're lined up with the runway and descending towards it), and they are that many miles away from touching down.
Fabulous simulations!

Hello I subscribed
ARFF with steering on the right? Cool
Not even a "proper" ARFF vehicle. SUV style. Good for supervisory/inspection only, not a lead rescue vehicle.
Well p3d is not for driving cars so it was hard to find any good models
Souls? What 'passengers' takes toooo long?
Its tradition...
They are not only counting passengers, they are also counting crew. I suppose they could say “persons”. Not sure what happens if a passenger dies in flight...are they still considered a ‘soul’?
I love your channel however I’m not really a fan of the flight simulator content, especially the audio from it.
Thanks, Benjamin!
Well given real video most often doesn't exist I think the Sim work shows those maybe not initiated with airport and flight ops what happens
How do they count souls. Surely not the same as people. I have met a few without
They didn't count the Gingers
What do the controllers mean when they say "until established on the localizer"? Does it have anything to do with the ILS automatically controlling an aircraft's descent?
Localizer guides the aircraft horizontally to the runway.
Established means that the fmc/radio is picking up the ILS signal(s) and the plan is on the glide slope
Do a video of the southwest plane being hit by a truck in pittsburgh!
Date and time?
VASAviation - I believe Monday morning. Not sure the exact time, all news sites just say “Monday morning”
Joe Rogan is now an ATC?
Minor edit. Cars in the U.S. are left hand drive. But otherwise it was great.
Can you imagine how great it would look in FS 2020?
Amazing!
Wonder if they hit a drone or something.
Maybe sucked something from the ground?
A drone strike would be a very unlikely event. It would take a cosmic coincidence to have a drone hit a plane moving that fast at that rate of climb. And to hit the engine? Highly unlikely. Impossible? Mmm no but very close to impossible. Just my opinion
