Flavor and ingredients made in China has to be Americanized because authentic Good Foreign food is too Alien to American taste buds. American do not like Extremely Spicy, Sour, or Foreign Vegetables. People normally identify with food from Childhood and food with similar flavors.
Panda Express and PF Changs sells sugared meat. Whereas the lower ranked Pick Up Stix has tofu that I still remember years after moving away from their La Jolla location.
Panda Express ranked above Mr Chow (expensive, had it in Vegas..best Americanized Chinese ever) for those who check comments before wasting their time watching. Admittedly I've never been to some of these places, but I would rank Mama Fu's a few spots higher regardless. It's like your fave neighborhood Chinese takeout place, but more consistent.

Everyone keeps ranking on Panda Express for how bad their Chinese food is. I find most of their menu options to be quite delicious, especially their "Beijing Beef." What a dish, imo.
I liked Mama Fu's, but the only local location closed and was turned into a bank! I like Pei Wei but there are none in this area. Fortunately we have Panda Express, and while I'm surprised to see them top ranked, I do generally llke their food. But I do go to a traditional Chinese restaurant just about as often.
Din Tai Fung is the only legitimate restaurant on this list. Or anywhere in the Inland Empire in LA or in Chinatown in Chicago. Or ask anyone speaking Mandarin who lives in America. I know a few people who tell me where to go.
This person does not speak for my “American palate”...I tried Panda Express once! It was a platter of 3 options and ALL 3 were tasteless and super bland.
Damn right I have an American *palate*! I'm tired of being shamed for liking what I like. I appreciate authentic food, but sometimes you just want your comforting sweet, salty, and spicy goodness.
I suspect some of these restaurant chains paid for their spot on this list. I frequented Leeann Chin’s in the Twin Cities back in the 80’s & 90’s and I can’t believe it’s rated so low here. Lines out the door and everyone was smiling.
Panda Express sucks it shouldn’t have even been on this list let alone got the #1 spot. And for that reason, and only that reason, this video gets a downvote from me. That said, I haven’t even heard of most of the restaurants on this list. Probably because the best Chinese restaurants are mom and pop places.
Panda Express in my area is TERRIBLE!!! The food is just bland and nasty. We've eaten there several times and each time it has been the same. They get an A for consistency, consistently bad, but that's all.
Asian Chao was one of my favorites when I lived in Indianapolis. Another reason why PF Changs shouldn't be number one on this list is too expensive for dinky portions.
I uses to like these lists, but after seeing PF Changs in 3rd and Panda express in 1, this has really turned me off mashed... I'm pretty sure someone payed them to do that.
There's a hole in the wall called Mr.chopsticks..here in Denton by the university..and everyone i know its like if you went on a trip to china and the food followed you home..and i think the owner opened it in 76 or something but when approached about turning the place into a franchise he said no he wanted the food consistent authentic and he planned on cooking till hes 90 and all his family like owns and runs it now he retired..but apparently the foods as good as ever and still no franchising..but good for the ma and pop places reguardless what kind of food..
IMO, while Panda Express might not be the best (let alone most authentic) Chinese food you can get, I do like their food and find them to be more dependable than the majority of "hole in the wall" places. At least around where I live (Central NJ). I also think they're a heck of a lot better than PF Chang's, which I've been to a handful of times and was never really satisfied.
I've tried panda Express 5 or 6 times in Houston Texas, and they totally stink on any of their food. China Dragon is an all you can eat buffet and for $12.00 to 14.00, they have a sushi bar that is great too. Free refills on drinks and their staff are great too.
The only ones on your list in California are Panda Express & P F Changs. I’d put PF Changs ahead of Panda Express, although PE is much more affordable. I noticed you didn’t mention Pick Up Stix, I wonder what your opinion is for them?
Next you’re going to list best Mexican chains with Taco Bell #1, and Pizza Hut top Italian restaurant. Not just PF Changs, but ALL of these are “Americanized”. Din Tai Fung is the only quasi actual Chinese food.
Panda Express is 1000 miles away from being authentic but I actually don’t hate their food

It is not authentic Chinese food, but it is authentic Chinese American food.
Idk everything involves a slurry a Chinese started sauce thickening technique.
I like it because their chicken dishes retain the crispness to them and not soggy mush like all the other places.
Someone I know from the UK LOVES their food & I don’t know why! And I’m NOT about to try to hurt my brain on tying to figure that out.
Any hole in the wall Chinese restaurants in your city make better food than these chain restaurants. And cheaper too.

I've never had any of the others but I enjoy Panda Express. Haters may say it's not authentic, but I really don't care it still tastes good.
I suspect some of these restaurant chains paid for their spot on this list. I frequented Leeann Chin’s in the Twin Cities back in the 80’s & 90’s and I can’t believe it’s rated so low here. Lines out the door and everyone was smiling.
Hong Kong Cafe Madison, WI. Best Chinese ever. Vegetarians make sure to try the Governors Tofu. Friendly, Family Owned, and Fast Service.
❤️🌌🗺🌎🌍🌏 Ahh indescribable Seinfeld fan here the Chinese restaurant episode’s 1 Of My favorite episode’s
You should add the Mandarin buffet restaurant into the top 3 list))
Panda Express sucks it shouldn’t have even been on this list let alone got the #1 spot. And for that reason, and only that reason, this video gets a downvote from me. That said, I haven’t even heard of most of the restaurants on this list. Probably because the best Chinese restaurants are mom and pop places.
It’s actually not bad atleast where im at.
Who’s your top 5
@@suminternetsht290 Yeah. I really like Panda Express too. A lot of places just can't cook Chinese food well to me.
Panda Express in my area is TERRIBLE!!! The food is just bland and nasty. We've eaten there several times and each time it has been the same. They get an A for consistency, consistently bad, but that's all.
I feel bad for you. It seems you just got unlucky with the spots near you. The ones I’ve been to are really good!
@@lennoxtvthingy7408 Believe me, I know it's just my area.
I didn't even know there were 16 Chinese chain restaurants out there, LOL.
Thanks, Lola ! - Perhaps I’ll try it before the end of summer if I’m in the area.
In and Out Burger has great Chinese Food.
The only ones on your list in California are Panda Express & P F Changs. I’d put PF Changs ahead of Panda Express, although PE is much more affordable. I noticed you didn’t mention Pick Up Stix, I wonder what your opinion is for them?
Pick Up Stix is No. 6 on their list.
Mama Fu's!!! I wonder which Chinese character "Fu" is...
I don’t know if Panda Express should be called “authentic Chinese food”, but it’s so freaking good that I really don’t care. No surprise they’re #1
Beijing beef at Panda...yum
The first thing that came to mind was "There are 16?!?!?!"
Chang’s House is unbeatable.
Next you’re going to list best Mexican chains with Taco Bell #1, and Pizza Hut top Italian restaurant. Not just PF Changs, but ALL of these are “Americanized”. Din Tai Fung is the only quasi actual Chinese food.
I haven't even heard of any of this restaurants except panda express.
Oh yes, Panda Express is SO delicious, I LOVE their Orange Chicken, it's the BEST!
i'm shock to see chow king here
Panda express was dissapointing, overated and tastless, If thats #1 on the list I dont even think Id wanna try any of the others.
You nailed it.
I've never been to HuHot Mongolian Grill before but I've been to Fire + Ice in Anaheim, CA and Big Chow Grill in Atlanta, GA. ^_^
HuHot is really good.
I'm from California and I've only been to P.F. Changs & Panda Express
Then you must live in the Central Valley. Get over to SF or LA and try some of the local shops.
@@ecphorizer I live in the Bay Area mate
@@ecphorizer I just like panda’s food
You need to try Egg Roll#1 it is the BEST!!!!!
2021, Now you can update the list and put Chowking to rock bottom, you cannot even compare their noodles to instant noodles.
Flaming woks, in Northland Mall was the best in Detroit
