Thank you, Brian, for teaching our kids in your American Club at the HSG. It was a pleasure for me to hear of your lessons at home. I wished there were more teachers to enthusiaste the kids by having fun with them and talking about the different points of views than talking about grammar. Wish you all the best for you future life🍀

It was great fun at HSG and a wonderful experience spending time every week with the students from American Club. I hope they got just as much out of the experience as I did. Thank you for the message and all the best to you!

Current college student considering doing Fulbright, thank you so much for posting this!!!
    Some quick questions:
    1) What did you major in in undergrad?
    2) Did you speak German before going on Fulbright?

Hey Frank thanks for the message!
      1) I majored in German Studies. But by no means do you have to have majored in German to get accepted into Fulbright Germany.
2)Yes, I had a lot of experience with German before starting my Fulbright year. But there are some Fulbrighters I know who have very minimal experience with German. Almost everyone speaks English here though, so I could definitely get along fine with just English.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Hey thank you so much! I wish you luck! I thought about filming a typical day at the school video, yes, however the problem is, I cannot film people in the school and post it online. But despite this, I plan on making more videos that are hopefully helpful for people :)

Hallo Brian! I am a Canadian uni student who just applied for this program, I think they call it something a bit different (not Fulbright). My German teacher sent this to me so I could get more info about what it's like. I will definitely check out your other videos. About how much German would you use on a daily basis, both inside and outside of the classroom? I feel my German is fair, but not amazing so I'm a bit nervous. I'm really excited and hopeful I get an offer!

Hey thanks for reaching out! That is great to see that my videos could be useful to you. In Germany you can get away with speaking 0 German. And I lived in Kaiserslautern where there are 50,000 Americans in the surrounding area… and almost none of them speak German. I wanted to speak German as much as possible though, so I would speak English in the classes and with the students, but with the teachers and with my flatmate, I spoke German. My German improved significantly after speaking it every day for a year, so I definitely suggest it. Just dive in because many Germans don’t care if you make a mistake. Many are just happy to see people trying to speak their language. Good luck and I hope you get to go! It is a wonderful opportunity!

Hi, thanks for the informative video! Sorry if I come across as too nosy but how do you come by with just a part-time job in Germany? I don't mean to pry, just curious.

Hey! I don’t mind the question 😃 I was in Germany with a Fulbright scholarship which paid me $850 a month, which, in the city I was living in, actually was enough to live on. My rent was only $250 a month.
