Spain is one of my favourite nations.. idk why, but I love the mix between european shit and colonizing. The ideas are absolutely insane and the flag is beautiful ;D nice timelapse! :)
I am very new to EU4 and the genre but for some reason, I always start a new game as Castile until I succeed. Although France always obliterates and declares war on me, the idea of a colonizing European nation that its main source of power is the trading and colonizing is quite nice. I hope I'll be able to create the empire you have created. Nice timelapse! The step by step guides was very useful for a new player such as me.
As Spain, you can just leave it once it forms a colonial nation and expands somewhere else like Africa. For England, you usually cannot go to Africa because its out of range in early game, so might as well expand faster in NA so the territory won't get grabbed by other country.
Expanding Colonies is a very bad idea - you spend tons of money to colonise new lands, and after some time, if they grow too much their Liberty Desire increases. It's best to leave them to themselves and always have more of your troops stationing on their land, than they have their (when you make a Colony in early game, Independence War is only a matter of time). Oh, and always build your Navy to force limit, and increase it as soon as you can. Colony is your biggest rival and enemy in this game.
@@Admiral45-10 Simple rules when leading with colonial nations (CN): Do not raise tariffs too much. The big profit in colonial nations is the trade, not the teriffs, so 20% - 25% is ok, more than this and they will rebel against you. Focus the colonists in provinces that have natural harbors etc. It gives your CNs a great trade power that you will use to transfer trade to your main trade node or other node that you collect (use merchants to It). This is the big profit of CNs. Try to always have a big navy, army and a high diplo tech. Try to resech tecnologies that make your vassals have less liberty desire. Be happy with your CNs.
@@alancristhian7532 I do that - but my problem is, that left alone they raise in uncontrollable matter (they decleare war without my permittion, and sometimes even take provinces with high development in war with other nations). I lower my tarrifs as much as I can, but their Liberty Desire still increases.
Idk how you colonize the whole American continent in that amount of time while conquering europe at the same time. Im only in 1500+ and I'm half way through completing mexico
Im in my ottoman game(1543), and they still didnt reach america, only england has a single colony in brazil, nothing else, portugal has around 7 provinces in africa and castile only one. Poor ai :( Meanwhile i got syria, balkans, anatolia and some of persia as ottomans with 1477 dev(ranked 1st)
Same mate, Castile and Portugal got fucked early game by Aragon and France, England got destroyed by Scotland and France, and nobody colonized the new world until 1543 so the colonial institution didnt spawn until 1544!!!! I'm playing Bharat so I guess it was good for me since I'm not so far on tech now.

rodie green I wouldn't say all the merchants are collecting, because some are transferring. This is because I found out that in this specific game collecting made a lot more money as opposed to having a lot of merchants transferring.
Solarian Oh, I never passed the limit I believe. I would take special care not to be over the limit, as diplo points were scarce in this game because I had so many vassals.

The English didn’t want la plata, they wanted the falklands lol If you didn’t get it, the British thought for the Falklands against Argentina and lost.
I once did a Europe conquest only (no Africa, middle east and Asia to get more money and manpower). And practically every single European country ended up either in Africa, Asia or America.
Yassine Karroum Because when you annex Rome as a catholic nation you get a really bad penalty. As other Christians like protestants, copts or orthodox you don't get the penalty.
Just want to point out that at one point France was completely in England and England was completely in Ireland

I did that with Spain in Medieval II Total War, but the crusaders turned the tide since I lost too many resources fighting the Mongols.

Do you just leave your colonial nations to expand themselves or do you help them by colonizing nearby states?
I leave them to expand for themselves, come back during the endgame, and force the colonial territories from other nations

How do you manage the liberty desire of the colonies havent you run out of prestige? Did you core all the french lands? Why not a vassal?
develop their provinces, each dev decreases liberty desire by 5
The game was doomed to be subpar until you got that commonwealth pu
i know right
Paradox Addicts Just saying it was lucky. I mean no offence if that was sarcasm
Aw, why you were so mean to lil' Portugal? :c
How was the commonwealth integrated? Must have missed it sorry
Over time, I started a long time beforehand.
How are you able to manage such a vassal swarm? Surely you must be about 3 above your diplo limit...
Solarian What point in the game are you referring to?
Paradox Addicts Early to Mid game, you seem to have the entirety of Western Europa as a subject.
Solarian Oh, I never passed the limit I believe. I would take special care not to be over the limit, as diplo points were scarce in this game because I had so many vassals.
Paradox Addicts Well, I'm never above my diplo limit and I still have only +4 dip a month...
Solarian Bad ruler? That's why you expand your empire so you can get a +3 advisor :P
Great game
Can Spain unlock a empire goverment? Or will it remain a kingdom just like the Brits?
Maybe u already know it cause it's been 2 years but yes it can with 1k development and 75 prestige

Wait, why did you have your merchants collecting? I'm nearly 100% sure that that would make less money
I was inexperienced back then, I got more used to trading now ;)
It's also how I was starting - but Transfering Trade Power to one point is much better.

How did you get to Indonesia? It doesn’t look like you have any islands or anything so wouldn’t the naval range be super far
every time you take more diplo tech you get more colonial range.
What is that graphic mode, it is uff

The English didn’t want la plata, they wanted the falklands lol
If you didn’t get it, the British thought for the Falklands against Argentina and lost.
If britain lost against argentina, then why are the falklands still british terretory even though that was the whole point of the war?
What’s with calling the English colonies CO6?
I once did a Europe conquest only (no Africa, middle east and Asia to get more money and manpower). And practically every single European country ended up either in Africa, Asia or America.
hi what does mean ko1 or co1?
it's a glitch, when you annex client-states (k01) or colonies get conquered (c01) in this patch, they turn into those
What with the co9 and co2s and such?
why did france become britain
nice
Equatorial Guinea: :D
I regret buying HOI4 instead of EU4
You let France Expand so much at middle of the game. Anyway nice timeline.
At least speed 3 for colonization tbh.
Tru, didn't think about it when I made the video lol
PC_Addicts All good man, just advice for the future.
yeah man, appreciate it
Why in every timelapse of eu4 no one ever conwuers roma papal state?
Yassine Karroum Because when you annex Rome as a catholic nation you get a really bad penalty. As other Christians like protestants, copts or orthodox you don't get the penalty.
If you are catholic and annex Rome, you get harsh penalties for it.
