George was like no other. He Was spectacular live and his voice was like a record, like studio sound. It’s absolutely amazing. If you want to really understand the quality and range that George had you need to listen to spinning the wheel podcast with Shirley Lewis one of his backup singers for 30 years. Also, watch George’s 25 live world tour performance. I have it on Blu-ray and watch it often. Even just on the concert DVD he jumps out of the screen. I adore George and think he has one of the most amazing voices of all time and is a songwriter that is on another level.
George and Elton were great friends. They had their ups and downs as friendships often experience, but they really truly cared for one another. Elton once said, George did his rendition of don’t let the Sun go down on me he took it to another level and it became his song. Elton was a huge admirer of George’s talent.
