    In this video I have shown the need for Salt and Rinse Aid setting in LG Dishwasher. It is very important to know the water hardness in your locality/home and set the salt setting in the dishwasher to suit the hardness. This plays a crucial role in giving proper cleaning of utensils.
    I have made a separate video explaining about Water Hardness - Salt and Rinse Aid Setting in Dishwasher. I have shared a lot of information in the video which you seldom get from the manufacturer (most of my viewers have shared this information).
    I am sharing the link of that video below -
    • Water Hardness | Salt ...
    Please watch the same and I am sure you will find it useful. In case of any queries you can connect with me and I shall try my best to offer the best advice or solution to your issues.
    Thank you for all the love and support!!

    Thank you for making such descriptive videos. After watching them all my doubts were cleared and I could finally buy a dishwasher about 2 months ago. So I got the same model LG DFB424FP.
    When the installation process was complete LG technician did not add water with the salt and the salt light was blinking for more than 15 days. Then I opened the salt camber but there was some water there and I added more and salt light stopped blinking. After a few days it started blinking again and then I added IFB salt (crystallized) till the brim and the light stopped. In about seven days the light started blinking again. Then I added Finish salt till the brim on 12th August 2020 and the light stopped blinking. Since 19th August 2020 the light is blinking again. I use the machine twice a day with Turbo, Steam and Hot Water settings. I'm completely perplexed by this and the LG technician just told us to add more salt which doesn't make sense. The hardness level by the strip provided by LG was about 125 so we've put H2 in the settings since it was installed. I use Finish detergent,salt and rinse aid.
    Also there's a huge surge in the electricity bill. On an average electricity bill was less than 1000 and max 1200 before the dishwasher. After installing the dishwasher the bill has been more than 2500 rupees per month since the last 3 months. And we're not using any new appliance apart from dishwasher.
    I love the washing quality of this dishwasher but these expenses of salt and electricity are taking a toll on my experience.
    If you could share your thoughts on this it would be very helpful. The LG technicians in my area don't have a clue about it.
    Thank you.

      Hi Anjali, reply to the points raised by you -
      It is the fault of the LG technician to have not filled water while filling salt. Good that you discovered this and added salt. Hope you added at least 1 litre water (or upto the brim).
      For your water ppm, H1 is sufficient. Please change the setting to H1 (for detergent). If you are using tablet continuously, you can even keep it at H0. This will reduce your salt consumption.
      Please remember, short program does not mean less power. In fact short programs consume more power than long duration program as they have to do same cleaning within short time. So use eco program also whenever possible. Continuously using turbo with steam will consume more power.
      Regarding power bill, your running 2 turbo programs daily would have added about 700 to 800 to your power bill. The remaining could be due to lockdown. All of us are getting more power bill during lockdown since all are at home all the time. Actual increase due to dishwasher will be known only after things become normal.
      Thanks.

      I think you should use economic cycle electric bill will reduce
      The high temp setting and steam setting g uses lot of electricity.
      I am not an expert bought this same model 15 days back so can't say much.

      Hi Shilpa, it depends on how frequently you are using the dishwasher and what programs you use often. If your water is hard and setting is at H4, salt consumption will be higher. You can add salt till the blinking stops.

      Hi Lakshmi, sorry for the delayed reply.
      Generally white stains on dishes is because of hard water.
      Have you checked the hardness of water in your area? Based on water hardness you have to adjust salt level setting in your machine. I have explained about this in one of my videos on dishwashers.
      Also you have not told which program you used when you got these white stains?

The technician who installed the dishwasher has checked water quality and made me buy a water filter since hardness level is high. He just asked us to use all in one tablet and he told us that salt is not necessary since we are using a water filter. I did not check the quality of the water after buying the filter. • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 місяці тому

      For that you have to set the salt and rinse aid setting to "zero". When you do this the indicator light will be turned off.
      But use tablet without salt and rinse aid of good quality which already has enough quantity of salt and rinse aid in it for your water. Sometimes the amount of salt and rinse aid in the tablets would not be enough for your water type(if it is a bit hard), in which case you may be required to use salt and rinse aid along with the tablet, by keeping the settings of both in 1.
      You have to decide this based on your water quality and wash results.
      I have explained this in detail in one of videos, the link of which I am sharing below:

    Madam,
    I have purchased same dishwasher of LG (DFB424FP). It's delivered just yesterday.
    I have gone through the manual and they have provided a Hardness Test Strip with the guideline to check hardness of water. I have used the strip and it shows the colour Blue not red/violet etc. And it seems that based on the results, the recommended settings H0 and we get soft water.
    Our society gets filtered water from municipal corporation. However, they have installed additional filtration plant and they told it's softned. Even TDS shows only 40ppm and now the test strip assures it.
    If I set H0, salt will not be required at all and also the built-in water softening system will not be activated in machine.
    I am asking you for recommendation, for setting, as you know Indian conditions and you have used the machine much efficiently.
    Your videos are really informative and helpful.
    Thank You

      Hi Kishore, congrats on your new dishwasher. I'm sure you're going to enjoy using it.
      Thanks for your appreciation and your query.
      From what you have written, it is clear that your water is rather very soft, almost like drinking water.
      So you are right about keeping the level of salt setting to H0. But it is advisable to add a minimum amount of salt along with water, before the very first time you start using the machine, because i think the salt compartment should not be empty as per manufacturer"s instruction.
      Salt will not be consumed anyway. I'll get back to you after some more research on this.
      I too have soft water in my locality though not as much as yours, and I've set my salt level to H01. This way the machine parts are protected and very very less salt is consumed.
      Thank you. Hope my answer helps.

      Hi Ananya, that depends on how soft your water is.
      In any case it is better for the machine in the long run to use salt, but you can keep the salt level at the lowest in case your water is soft. Also in case you are using a tablet, you can set the salt level to 0.

    very useful video, great work! Technician never explained these details, and only focused on getting happy code for his 5 star rating. We have very hard water in Bangalore(tanker water), should we use H4, L3? Will there be any impact on machine performance and life in long run? H4 means more salt consumption, and L3 means more Rinse aid consumption? In this case, is it worth switching to Fortune from Finish based on your experience? Thanks!

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 роки тому +1

      Glad it helped Dhaval! Thanks. Have you checked your water hardness. TDS from a meter may not be an accurate measure of hardness. Get your water checked at any food/water testing lab (you can Google one) in Bangalore. Make your salt settings accordingly. Yes H4 and L3 mean more salt and rinse aid consumption.
      Regarding detergent, Fortune is considered better for hard water. But still there could be exceptions. Getting to the detergent brand that works best for you is a bit tricky and involves some trial and error. You could start with Fortune and if not satisfied with the results, could try Finish, Bosch & Vim one by one. I am sure one of these will work out for you. In the meanwhile , you could also check out my detergent/tablets videos playlist in which I have shown different brands like Finish/Fortune/IFB/Crystale/Vim/Bosch in my dishwashers. It's generally a better practice to use salt, rinse aid and detergent of the same brand for getting the same cleaning results always, with a particular salt and rinse aid setting.
      From what you've written it looks like there is a difference in quality of salt and rinse aid of the two brands Lyzene and IFB, which is giving you different cleaning results.
      There could be difference in formulation between brands.
      Basically mixing of consumables of reputed brands should not give a problem. Even I've done this.
      You better stick to the combination which suits you best giving you good cleaning.

    Hi, thanx for very informative vdo. just bought lg DISHWASHER DFB532FP. While giving demo lg technician didn't add salt. He just ran the empty cycle. I've been using dishwasher since 2 days. As per lg technician, there is no need to add salt and rinse aid if u r using tablet. Right now i'm using finish power ball tablet. Should i add salt now?

      If your water is hard, it is better to use salt and rinse aid as the tablet may not have enough salt to soften the hard water.

    Hello madam. How are you? Long time since I saw a latest video from you. We finally got the lg quad wash dishwasher. It’s working satisfactorily well to begin with. Just found a few doubts during the usage. So hoping you will clear it somehow.
    1) we have been using the dishwasher atleast twice everyday for the last 1 week. I found the salt indicator blink a couple of times. The installation guy did put in 1kg if salt at the beginning. After that I have put the salt again twice in this week. The blinking stopped after I added salt. But today I notice that the salt indicator started blinking again. And I have put in the salt. The entire 2kg of Crystal salt has been added in the last week. I am surprised that even after adding the salt the light is blinking repeatedly. Are we doing anything wrong? I got the water checked and the hardness level caco3 is 109mg/ml and total dissolved salts is 239 and the ph is 7.18.
    Now my question is, usage of 2kg salt within a week.. is it normal? I don’t think so. I will contact the customer care regarding the same. But wanted your opinion about this.
    The machine hardness level was set at h4 at the beginning by the lg demo guy. Please share your opinion regarding the same.
    2) we notice that there is a thin white layer on the utensils after the wash if we leave the utensils inside for a long time. Is it normal? I am not using too much detergent. Using only till the first level 15 in the detergent compartment. Or is the salt again the culprit?
    Please let me know your opinion regarding the same. Hoping to see more videos from you too.
    Regards,
    BDN.

      Hi BDN, thanks a lot for your comments and query. Sorry I have been busy with some pressing personal commitments, hence I have not been able to post a new video for some time. I shall be posting very soon. Thanks a lot for asking.
      1) Regarding the dishwasher, from what you have mentioned, you seem to be doing everything right. You are right, salt consumption of 2kg in one week is definitely very much on the higher side. I cannot think of any reason for this except the hardness setting of H4. I observed from the dishwasher manual that with H4 setting, the salt lasts only for 10 cycles. For H2 setting, the salt will last 50 cycles. This difference is huge. Since you are using dishwasher twice a day, H4 setting seems to be the only reason for high salt consumption. For the water hardness mentioned by you, I request you to set hardness level at H2 and observe for a week or two. My guess is that the consumption should drop to normal levels. If the problem still persists, then you can call for service personnel.
      2) Even the thin white layer could be due to excess salt. You can observe whether there is a change in this too after changing setting to H2.
      You have not mentioned which program/cycle you are using. Are all the problems in only one cycle or different cycles? And is it on all utensils?
      I request you to get back after trying the above, in case there is still problem.
      Thank you once again.

      hello madam. Thank you for the quick reply. As per your experience, I think you have given the correct information. I enquired with the service centre person who also adviced me the same. I will set the hardness to h2 and post the observations in the next week. I have ordered finish salt for this time. Will be receiving it tomorrow. Will check the difference and let you know.
      I have used a lot of trial and Error programs. I found that the turbo express gives me the worst cleaning. May be because if the wrong salt setting.
      Turbo with steam and extra dry gives me the best result so far. But the time taken is a bit too much since it’s 1hr 56minutes. Without the extra dry, the cleaning quality is one step lower. Will be trying a few more cycles in the coming week and update the same.
      Thank you again for the quick response. I will also share my experience in the comments section.
      Your videos have given me so much knowledge that the demo person asked me a few things which he didn’t know or was not sure about. All thanks to your detailed video.
      Will change the salt settings today and observe the changes. Thank you again. Take care.

      Hi bdn, thanks for your appreciation. I'm just sharing my experience, to help my viewers.
      You're right, you cannot expect good cleaning results using Turbo Express program as it is mainly for very very lightly soiled dishes like plates, cutlery, tea, coffee mugs etc.
      Turbo program( without any options) gives excellent cleaning results of light to medium soiled dishes.
      Whenever i have used Turbo+high temp+extra dry I've got almost 99-100% wash results.
      Turbo+steam also gives about 98% cleaning results.
      You can use Turbo+extra dry when you are loading more plastics (heat resistant of course), because you can always find water droplets on plastic.
      It is good that you're trying out various programs by trial and error. That's the only way you can learn which is best suited for your kind of dishes based on the degree of soling.
      Keep trying and exploring your wonderful machine and sharing your experience in the comment section. You can even mail with images to bhuvanaadis@gmail.com.
      Your results can help me help other viewers.
      Actually I've few more videos on this dishwasher which I've to edit and upload, which I'll try to do very soon.
      Thanks once again for all your kind words.

      Hi Asha Somkuwar, Sorry for the delayed reply. I seem to have missed your query. You have not mentioned about your water quality and which program you have used. If your water is good, even the level of detergent you are using may be more. If you feel detergent could be left on the glass, try reducing the detergent still. Just check before putting the detergent that the detregent compartment is dry and clean. Sometimes when we load wet utensils in bottom rack, some water drops could get into the detergent compartment, so please try to remove and dry that before putting fresh detergent. Please try the above and check whether the problem gets reduced or solved. Thank you.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому

      Hi Lakshmi, first of all you have not mentioned as to how much salt you've added initially with one litre of water. Also based on your water hardness, you have to adjust the salt level setting. Because the factory setting is H02. I've explained all this in the video. Please watch my video showing filling of salt for the first time in the LG dishwasher to know more details.
      This salt icon would have started blinking as you wouldn't have filled adequate amount of salt the first time. Water in the salt dispenser is normal and you've to fill the required amount of salt even if the water runs out. Even on adding salt, water will still in the dispenser, don't bother about the water coming out and stop filling salt.
      Check your salt level setting.
      Thank you.

      Hi Ram, when you added salt and rinse aid, did you check the respective settings? Usually the machine comes with a factory setting. You've to adjust the setting according to the hardness of the water in your locality. If your water is very hard or if your setting is at maximum, salt and rinse aid will get over soon. Please check that first.
      Adjust your setting properly, refill salt again and run a few cycles to check whether the same thing happens. Let me know about it. Hopefully your problem should be solved. If possible check your water hardness.

      I m generally using the turbo with extra Dry and Auto with extra dry mode. Both the modes gave excellent results till now. Initially I have used finish all in one max tablets but now for about 10 days I am using Finish detergent with no issue’s whatsoever. Hence I am a little worried. Whether there is insufficient salt though the indicator is off. Pl advise.

      @BhuvanaAdi  2 роки тому

      Hi Sudipta, sorry for the delay in replying. Your both queries seem a bit contradictory. You have said you are using Finish detergent now and with H3, L3 you are getting salty and rough surface. During previous 30 cycles, was salt present in salt chamber?
      Also you have written that you got good results with Quantum max and also said that with Finish detergent there are no issues. Does this mean you are getting good cleaning? Or bad cleaning?
      Before setting salt level, please check your water hardness.
      I feel from what you have written you have hard water and you will need to increase the salt setting to H4. Try for some cycles and see whether you get good results. Thanks.

      Hi Sudipta, did you add water while filling salt the very first time? If the light is blinking it means the salt quantity would be less. You can add more salt.
      Btw, what is the salt setting you have kept in your machine?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому

      Hi suneetha888522, based on my experience and some feedback from my viewers, it is seen that Fortune gives better results than Finish. Finish gives excellent results if the water is soft. So I can suggest you try using Fortune detergent or tablet and observe the results. Your TDS of 1000 is on the higher side and you have rightly set the salt and rinse aid at the highest level. If you are still not getting good results with Fortune, I would suggest trying the option of connecting soft water supply to the dishwasher or an in line water softener. Hope this helps. Thanks.

      @Prap P, From here, I am not able to say what could be that sound. You could run the machine empty for 10 to 15 minutes to check whether the sound is still coming. If you are sure it is some abnormal sound, then it is better to call the service person and get it checked out if the machine is still under warranty. Thanks.

    Hello mam, I have seen your lots of videos before I purchased dishwasher. Thanks for guiding through video.
    I have got Bosch dishwasher during this lockdown. Experience is really good for dishwasher. I stay in Mumbai and hardness of water is not much hence, I kept both salt and rinse aid to 1. But sometimes I observed while filling up the water glass it has too much of bubbles. Do you know why this can happen? I am using Finish products.

      Hi Gauri, thank you for your kind words.
      Happy that your experience with dishwasher is very good. I am aware of the water quality in Mumbai, it is very very soft.
      I presume you're using detergent, salt and rinse aid and not tablets. Because for your water, detergent itself will give very good cleaning results.
      1. If you're using tablets, you can try keeping both salt and rinse aid setting to level 0.
      2. If you're using detergent, then reduce the quantity of detergent. Use correct quantity based on how soiled your dishes are.
      3. If still you get soapy bubbles, make rinse aid setting to 0.
      Try the above and observe it for a few cycles. Whichever of the above gives best results, you can stick to that.
      I'm sure your problem will get solved. Please share your experience here once the problem is solved.
      Thank you.

      No. You can use detergent and salt at the lowest setting. Try rinse aid at zero.
      Tablet may leave your dishes soapy unless used in long cycle.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Heenal, how is your water quality? Have you adjusted salt setting according to that? Because the factory setting will be H04, you've to set it to suit your water type. Higher the setting, more salt will be consumed.
      Anyway wait for 2-3 cycles, to see if salt indicator is still blinking. It should go off by 2-3 cycles, because by then the salt would have fully dissolved.. If it is still blinking, please let me know.
      Also let me know what your salt setting is.

    Is rinse aid is harmful for health?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  5 років тому +2

      Hi kavitha babu, although rinse aid is a chemical, it is only harmful if directly consumed.
      The rinse aid helps in drying dishes by increasing the surface tension of water, thus helping in evaporation. So they won't be deposited on the dishes. Having said this, it is always a good practice to wash your dishes before use. I follow this always, whether my dishes are hand washed or machine washed.
      You can avoid using rinse aid if you're very concerned about health risks. In that case, you can leave the door open after completion of wash cycle, for a while so that dishes dry naturally.
      Hope I've cleared your doubts.
      Thank you.

      You have to fill at least 1 kg salt in one filling. White spots are because of no salt and hence limescale formation on utensils and appliance parts. If light is blinking add some more salt. Hope you added water along with the salt the first time. After this you should get clean dishes. Please let me know. Thanks.
