Thanks for watching. Cheers
Elliott Easton is a monster of a player. I remember when I first heard it--a real head-turner. This solo alone is legendary, and Elliott can do this kinda stuff all day long.
He could integrate the rhythm into his melodic soloing like no other.
Yep and another guy who got zero credit
Another fantastic lesson!! I always thought this solo was one of best and very difficult. Thanks for breaking it down with such accuracy.
Thanks again for the deeper instruction on why or what note is going over each chord. That extra attention to detail really helps on other stuff. Thank you
I'm pretty much an acoustic country blues fingerpicker, as well as a bit of a jazzer, but man-o-man, this is one heck of a rock n' roll kick ass tune. Well done. Great lesson.
the part where Easton decides to jump strings, but still stays in the two-fret box...just that bit, plus the various bend downs he does...that's enough new stuff for me to try.
Always loved Elliot Easton. One of the greatest rock/pop song soloist/guitarists. Such a joy to see this.
Excellent lesson! Love Elliot Easton’s guitar playing! Thanks!
Elliot Easton is BADASS f****** brilliant the s*** he comes up / riffs, licks plus writing in The Cars stand and kick ass today !!!!!! GREAT guitar player🤜🤛👍👊👊💪💪💪💖
Was wondering when you were going to tackle this amazing solo. Nailed it, as always.
I love Elliot's stuff. Such a tasty solo. I really appreciate you sharing.
Man what a tasty lead!!! That is some wizard level composing by Elliot. Another great player from a bygone era.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this lesson. Andy, you are so good and you explain everything in such great detail. I have become a much better guitarist having watched your videos.
I have previously donated but will definitely donate again. I owe you for all your time and effort.
How anyone can give you a thumbs down is beyond me.
Please keep up this incredible work. People like me are relying on you. There is so much crap on UA-cam, you’re one of the few who are worth following.
Thanks again.
Wow, thanks very much for supporting what I do Lee, I really appreciate it. Cheers
I've watched this lesson several times, too, and I don't even play guitar haha
This was just perfect Andy. I had always wondered how he was doing certain sections of this solo and now here once again you’ve unveiled the secrets. Thanks!!
Elliot Easton sure loved his bends. Masterful stuff. Great walk thru too
I just found this great guy channel, very clean soloing and lessons..am a subscriber now.
Thanks. This is one of my favourite solos from one of my favourite bands.
This is such a terrific lesson!!!! This is how every tutorial should be structured!! Great Job!!!
Who knew there were so many bends? Excellent.
I like your choice'es, great song and demo. Have been following you for a while now, Good job.
World class lesson. Thank you so much! What kind of numbskull gives this, or any of your videos, a thumbs down???
Great lesson. Elliot always had some great solos that fit the song perfectly. A lot of guitarists try to put too many notes in their solos. Love the tone too. Great job. Thanks.
Love this tutorial best instructor on UA-cam! Thanks. Reminds me of an intro to Saved by the Bell Bayside High School!
I watch all of your videos and this might be the best one, right up there with 'Purple Rain' and 'While by Guitar Gently Weeps'
30 seconds of lead guitar adrenaline. Thanks for breaking it down👍
One of my favorite guitar players and solos too. Great job.
Love this solo
always deserving of a big applause......so well appreciated !!!
Excellent lesson! Love Elliot Easton’s guitar playing! Thanks!
You are incredible !!!
Great video. I grew up listening to the cars , he used a Gibson Sg. 1961 custom.👍🇺🇸
You are incredible !!!
Thanks a million for this class and your effort to explain well this complicated solo. Great video!

Fantastic solo, awesome lesson! Thank you🙏
love wathing this channel.....when he shows and plays something, dead on!
Thanks Andy. Great lesson as usual.
I like your choice'es, great song and demo. Have been following you for a while now, Good job.
Who knew there were so many bends? Excellent.
Very cool lesson, thank you sir!
I love these kinds of classic bands that blend melodic pop with rock :-) Superb lessons and more backing tracks would be the cherry on top... :-)
Just found you, very gifted instructor. I just joined a Cars tribute band and this is my last one-stop shopping!😎✅
You are incredible !!!
You cheated and played it right handed! That's some smooth playing.
yeahhh.. you have to do it left handed or I'm just not impressed! lol
You sir earned a new subscriber. What a master class.
great little solo
I just want to say Thanks !
You make it look so easy. 🙀
Yeah, these type of guys are so talented
That's just a great rockin' solo, always loved it 👍
Cool.......for a band that I wasn't all that crazy about at the time, they sure wrote a lot of pretty damn good tunes over the years, & just about everyone of them contains some rather tasty guitar solo's. They may have even rightfully squeezed their way into my top 10ish.
agreed! been listening to a lot of stuff. all very tastefully done guitar solos.
Killer solo
You blow me away, everytme, every lesson. It's like a challenge when you unleash your soloing abilities on that red wine Les Paul. I have a similar decore'd LP, but with the original Humbucker at the neck pickup slot. I picked mine up from a fella who played mostly country (truly 'for a song'), but my truss rod cover says Deluxe. Which I thought brandished the mini humbuckers? 🤔 but whatever, working with nearly the exact look guitar, you've opened my drive to stay at it. Thank you.
Amazing lesson!
Thank you for a great lesson! My band decided to play this so again I have to learn some Elliot. I do the solos on Just what I needed and Best Friends girl. I can see similarities in style for sure. Never easy with Elliot! Thanks again
The best.
Cheers Andy!
Thanks, man!
I'm glad you play the notes super slow at times. I sometimes can't hear the subtle interval differences that were played originally.
.
Top class! Thanks man
Every time I hear that solo I can't even play it in my wildest dreams. The attitude in the bends is so on.
Bad Ass Man, your awesome
Coming from Boston I have always been a big fan of the Cars - Elliot never got the adulation he deserves....his solos were short efficient and memorable. I'd rather hear that than a 15 minute blues solo that goes nowhere. Excellent lesson...I always appreciate we get more than just "how to play the notes"....your appreciation of the song/guitarist always adds that extra layer of enjoyment for me.
btw.....so happy you are including the backing track as a standalone. Makes the lesson twice as fun!!!
Funny how the cars guitarist wouldn’t ever really get considered as brilliant or as a band that was about guitar but this solo is amusingly brilliant and just casually stuck into that record ... it’s a real toe tapper
Eliot Eastman is super underrated and under appreciated!
Every lesson makes me want to pick up that Egnater… sounds great in all your demos. Of course, you are the fingers and brain behind it all... so that's something (probably most) too.
"Clever" trumps "complex" so many times!
SOOO GOOD! Oh man....i was laughing with joy.
Superb
Curious about the (6:16) Am blues pentatonic lick...not to beat a dead horse, but I'm trying to copy your fingering with the alternating between your ring finger for the first bend and then doing the pull-off with your pinky. I was wondering why you wouldn't use either finger exclusively. But I'm thinking you're a tried and true pro who must have a ergonomic reason for doing it that way. It's sure harder than it looks and your pinky speed is incredible.
Hey Man great lesson. I love watching your videos and how you break it down. I was wondering if you could do the solo for NOT TONIGHT with Elliott Easton. Thanks so much.
Sem palavras... valeu demais 😎
I agree, Elliott Easton is one of my favorites. I like the choice of guitars and believe Easton played the Les Paul on that solo. My Les Paul is almost identical to yours.
Is yours a Classic with original pickups? I noticed the mini toggle down by the tone pots. Nice job, love your tone.
Thanks
What really SUCKS though I suppose it's never too late is found in how I spend my club playing days focused on Hendrix, Page, Blackmore and then Van Halen.......completely missed the great stuff by Players like Eliot Easton because "i"/"we" weren't so into it and we were too quick to think there couldn't be much to want to learn in the style of a "pop" music band like the Cars........wow, how wrong I was. These days playing in an oldie band these songs had to be learned and ......NOW I get it. Easton was a big part of why the Cars made it big and lesser known bands just faded away. These days these are some of my favorite songs to play.
🤘🏾Nice.
Can you do a tutorial of happiness is a warm gun of the beatles? Your lessons are soooo good and i can't find a good tutorial of this song. Please ❤
Sounds better than the original to me!
Awsome Brother!...Cheers from Mich...Home of Kid rock, Eminem, Madonna, Ted Nugent, Bob Segar, Jack White, Motown, Alice Cooper, and countless others!.. More rockers from Michigan that any other place on Earth!, :)
I love your guitar and your sound and your chops! Would you please tell me the model Les Paul you have? Sounds like single coil (Coil tap?). Thanks.
Could I ask what kind of rig you’re playing your Les Paul through? I’d sure like to get that tone. Thanks for your lesson!
I feel like this guy is secretly Alex Lifeson from Rush.
I might delete this comment in fear of releasing his true identity. Alex is my hero.
@ hmmmm 🤔🤔🤔
Haha. Alex is a bit more burly
Great job! It’s strange though, you’re switching pick ups in the exact opposite way of Elliott. I looked up some of live footage. Maybe he does it both ways, depending on how he feels or how it’s sounding that night.
Sounds great either way, that’s for sure. 🤘🏻😝🎸🇺🇸
For the part around 6:40 it'd be great if you said notes and strings
Stated the cord progression of C to A minor to B flat. @ 6:40 I believe it's progressing from A minor to B flat. Not being a smart arse just trying to help
One other note, The Cars 'She Comes', is Elliot's solo using a LP? Seem like all vids I've watched they use a whammy bar. Just curious??🤔
What about Space Age Love Song from Flock of Seagulls?
1/3 bends. The staple of Elliot Easton.
This is going to be a tough year, I might have bit off more than I can chew. Only 10 more songs to pick.
How can I pay you? Really, let me give you money. This is so valuable I feel like I am stealing if I don’t pay.
Thanks bud. Here's my donation page: www.shutupandplay.ca/donate.html

Damn, that demonstration in the beginning made me feel like this is too much for me
i need the complete song
"...so clever." That's Elliot Easton.
You cheated and played it right handed! That's some smooth playing.
I think…he may be winking at EVH. Both You Really Got Me and Beat It motifs…
Great solo! Although the rest of this song doesn't do much for me.
This is one of my favorite solos of all time, if not my favorite. One thing that bugs me is that he is not credited with co writing the song. If he wrote the solo, how come he doesn't get credit? It happens in a lot of songs. Very annoying.
