Good on Torts for calling out that reporter like that.
Why? He should be calling out the fanbase, they sent the death threats.
@@bruhbruhhh6592 Easiest way to answer this. Fanbases are dumb, especially in modern day where far too often threats are the go-to. Not good at all but the reporter reported something that was a (clearly) very false very inflammatory rumour to a fanbase that was already in a rage. The reporter did not do their due diligence and instead reported on an egregious rumour that a player was potentially directly responsible for a top prospect not wanting to play in a city. That's dangerous and dumb.
@@bruhbruhhh6592the reporter should know that his words determine whether or not Hayes gets those threats. It’s his job to provide good journalism.
@bruhbruhhh6592 no that was individuals i bet you blame all black people for bill cosby too
@@awsomedude12345678I blame George Floyd
im not a flyers fan but MAN do i love their coach. Dude is NEVER afraid to speak his mind, call out bullshit, or put people in their place.
He was a disaster in Vancouver
I've always loved him even when he was with NYR against my Devils (well maybe I didn't love him as much then but still....)
@@buffgarfield5250 they were actually decent until santorelli (sedins linemate who oddly started to fit) got injured, there was a second issue i forget, and then in a line brawl during a game in january they were already down either 7-2 or 7-0 the refs somehow gave the ducks a 7 min 5 on 3 for the rest of the game. Lost 9-2 or whatever. Season never recovered.
Dou even know he is bro ur a casual if u dont
He makes some great comments, especially towards the media.
Re: McDavid and reffing
I’m just glad that players are getting more candid in their interviews. I wanna live in a world more players and coaches like Tortorella.
NHL players need to show more personality. i've been saying this for DECADES!! they have the most boring interviews on the planet. very robotic.
@@sals79ever listen to rugby players get interviewed? Obviously not (I kinda agree tho tbh)
Not mcdavid and reffing. The team needs to take accountability
Are you saying "just gotta give it 110 percent " and " just need to make shots" doesn't cut it anymore as journalism?
The Leafs cup parade being on and off all the time is one of the funniest thing ever 😂😂😂 it gets me everytime bro!
I disagree. It was a week long joke at best that keeps continuing through the weekly series that I'm bored with. It's already an old meme. That said, I love the shit out of this channel.
Prepare for the parade to be reinstated next week… only in Toronto… lol
It's a good idea to plan it now. Everything in Toronto takes hundreds of years to build and should they win before 2400 they'll need all this time to get things right. Toronto grossly underestimated the size of the crowd celebrating the Raptors title in 2019.
Much respect to Torts, he's a legend.
It was a crazy week for us Flyers. The loss with the Penns was completely overshadowed by the trade. But DB and Jonesy did well on this trade!
"In shocking news, Connor McDavid has a personality" 🤣🤣
I'd just be happy if the Penguins could survive the first 10 minutes of a game without going down 0-2 then playing catch up just to lose in OT.
It is so frustrating to watch recently
The NHL scriptwriters have taken your happiness into consideration......and its been rejected
I feel you man, that is how it felt for us Flyers for the last couple of years when Girouix was still here.
thats how the first half the the Leaf's season felt. Yknow, before they completely stopped caring and expected their backup-of-the-backup goaltender to bail them out of every game
that's canes hockey babey
I love the defencemen putting their arms in the air like they can make the ref blow the whistle, while McDavid goes in and scores.
Very very soccer like
I'm not mad I'm just sad because the Maple Leafs Cup Parade is off until further notice 😭
It fluctuates more than my erectile dysfunction!
It'll be back on by Thursday, promise!
Maybe next year
..
Or next week when its back on 🤔
You know had they tanked and drafted Bedard they would have held a parade too.
Love your channel !
The problem with todays NHL = too much information
When the Leafs or Canucks sucked pre internet = I could wallow in my own hockey depression
50 stories on the same thing, vultures circling non news.
yeah, social media has made everything suck.
I'm with you, buddy. I love being a Leafs fan. I have no problem chirping and getting chirped, it's fun.
But our fellow fans, wow. They may be some of the most misinformed hockey fans out there. They bash Leafs players.
No chirps from another fanbase can compare to their nonsensical comments.
Prob woke sh*t right? Lol@@-Subtle-
@@-Subtle- I've been a Canucks fan since I started following in the mid 00s (with a nice long break after 11-12 for...reasons...). Back then it seemed like it the majority of fans on the message boards would bash players with no nuanced thought. When they missed playoffs in 07-08, everyone jumped on Luongo. It feels to me like there are proportionally more thoughtful voices now than there were back then. Not the same for you guys?
Maybe the fact that the Leafs have been consistently making the playoffs is the difference. These people feel like the team "should" be winning and someone needs to take the blame when they don't. Canucks fans are just treating this season like a nice surprise (that might evaporate at any moment) for the most part. I guess it could also be about who's getting paid. Fans tend to blame players with bigger cap hits.
Honestly the way Torts called out that reporter was subdued for Torts, man is growing.
Also the offside review should be changed to 90 seconds. I like that rule
And you could only review potential offsides that occurred max 10 seconds before the goal!
Put it to 2 minutes. Less tim than a minor is pretty dumb
It isn't just the time of the review, it is the false starts. When someone scores a goal you don't know if you should celebrate because it is a goal or if it is nothing because a foot was a couple inches off when entering the zone a minute back. If offsides isn't immediately called, then it shouldn't be called.
the devils ended the panthers winning streak last night so you could say im pretty happy yeah
Same, haha.
Remember when everyone had the Canucks pegged as a fringe playoff team, at best? Wild how tides can turn
Pun on Wild? 😅
all that for a first round exit
Remember when everyone was saying the Oilers were going to be in the Draft lottery?
@@samgibb9290 peek into your crystal ball and let me know next weeks lottery numbers please
@@samgibb9290 As a Canucks fan, yea. Only thing that'll possibly change that is some trades at the deadline.
I'm glad you have been able to work in the leafs cup parade status updates each week! 😅
Habs fan here, but man! Torts is so genuine and true. Respect to him and his team. Hockey is rough and these men are tough regardless of what is thrown at them.
Another solid video! Appreciate all your great analysis.
Thanks for giving the Kraken some love. They've really tightened up defensively and are getting great goaltending from Daccord (including a great scorpion save against the Caps last Thursday).
You made me laugh at the "ten beers deep" line.
Feel like I should mention that the panthers lost to the devils last night 😁
A time limit on reviews is a good idea. If you can't definitively see it was offside, then it didn't affect the play.
They were looking for anything that could contribute to killing their winning streak I think all that was. You are right though...if it is that close then what advantage does that give them anyway?
So fun to watch these videos. I spend about 20 mins or so watching these videos of yours, because the NHL-noob that I am (residing in Norway, which as a country with only 2 active NHL-players), I google some of your "hocky lingo" to learn more. Also, I did not expect to hear anything Mario Kart-related here, so that was a nice bonus! :D Keep up the great work!
I truly live for the Leafs Cup Tracker. I'm so glad I found your channel. These recaps are so helpful to keep up with the league!
This is the best channel for hockey. I tell everybody to come and check it out. Your breakdowns are second to none and the weekly recap is always a banger. Thank you! You're a rock star!
Another good breakdown, dude. As always. What a weird season, eh? I honestly have no idea who will take this one.
We Canucks fans aren't pissed off. Not at all. The Canucks are the ones that are pissing everyone off by winning, and winning big, when they weren't expected to. GCG!
Let’s not get the league to hate us like 2011. It’s a great season so far, let’s leave it at that.
That Petterson, Boeser, Miller line lit up away arenas across the east coast all week. They play the leafs on Saturday
There's a reason we call that line the lotto line.
Hopefully they beat the leafs I really don't like the leafs tbh
On paper I would expect the Leafs all their games on their trip. Every team they are facing are playing well.
However, Toronto has often done fairly well on this trip, and nothing they do makes sense, so they'll probably beat Edmonton in o/t, lose to Calgary, beat Vancouver and then lose to Seattle in o/t while coming back from a two-goal deficit. Then they'll come home and lose three straight.
The parade will yet again be cancelled. I hope the caterers sue them for repeated breaches of contract.
As a leaf fan, their is not a week that goes by that I’m not pissed off about something
I really have to thank you for this channel. I played hockey growing up and loved it but it fell away. This year I picked it up again as a fan and wow your channel does such an amazing job of breaking the game down in an understandable and exciting manner. Please keep it up!
Same, and I’m Australian!
You’ve been killing it lately with the content, keep it up man becoming my favourite channel
Bro thank you for mentioning LAK. That team cannot win a 3rd period to save their life
Was almost the best team in the league too what a tragedy
“I’m glad the jerseys are sponsored by rainbow road from mario kart” I can’t 😭😭
Keep it up man love these
After so many years of horrible management and poor effort on the ice, the FLYERS have finally listened to us fans. Danny, Keith and Torts have regained our trust and worked magic after those horrible years with Fletcher. LETS GO FLYERS!
Been watching all year this team is good reminds me of 84 85....they are not beating bad teams they are beating the best
teams in the league GO FLYERS
How jt miller gets a 2 min penalty for Dahlin trying to duck a hit yet greenway full on elbows a player to the head after he scores like 5 seconds late and doesn’t even get a warning
The jets? so the top two teams are the Vancouver Canuks and the Winnipeg Jets? What world am i living in
Flyers fans make the point that next time Guertierre is in town"he's not going to be treated very well " What the hell is the difference, Philadelphia fans don't treat anyone well!
Montreal fans booing mcdavid every time he touched the puck was a piss off. Especially considering in the pre game interview he said he loved playing in the Bell arena and its so much fun. Glad he made the perfect pass to Bouchard to get the ot winner and disappoint the home team fans.
It certainly was a nice poetic justice kind of ending to that game lol
They were booing because of the refs calling everything on Oilers side because it was Mcdavid. I love the player but those refs were biased when the call was arround Mcdavid. Some penalties were deserved, but the one on Evans was not. Also the goal was not good in my opinion.
@@clementdebellefeuille1866 Because he hit the goalie stick or what? I could lean that way myself but it didn't affect the goal in any way the goalie wasn't moved and I have seen many others that are worse count. In any case they really do need to streamline the goalie interference rule and leave less of it up to opinion.
Pettersson scores 4 game winning goals in a row on the road and zero mention? Seems like a pretty glaring omission.
New to the channel. I love these weekly update videos. Great work!
“The Toilet Bowl” 🤣🤣🤣
FUCKIN’ GENIUS! 🤣🤣🤣
The Oilers are on a 10 game win streak and still it feels like some of the worst reffing I've seen, both for them and against them. Just blatant missed calls, constant disallowed goals, missed icings, etc... Just a couple weeks of consistently good officiating would be nice. It just feels like every game feels like it has an asterisk.
The All-Star game is just a participation trophy with the other spots being a popularity contest. When guys like Zach Hyman, Noah Dobson, Evan Bouchard, and Victor Hedman get left out but Boone Jenner, Frank Vatrano, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Tomas Hertl, Tom Wilson, and Morgan Rielly get put in... what's even the point.
It's honestly been more fun watching the PWHL where at least they take risks (like the 3-2-1-0 point system and the jailbreak rule).
Love how you pump out these vids, and how the flyers got some coverage lol, keep it up
The hatred for Gautier as journos ignored the full story ticked me off.
The kid wanted to sign last year. Then Philly acts mad that he didn't show up to prospects camp.
No one shows up to a job they're not getting paid to do. It's pro hockey, not charity work.
Sucks for Philly, but let's not pretend it's a one-sided story.
Thats basic hockey standards which every single organization engages in
Teams can trade players on a whim and uproot their lives, yet play the victim in this situation. It's a weird double standard. As a normal human being I get to choose where I work and I don't have to give a reason why I'm leaving.
@Inveterate-introvert you don't sign multi million dollar contracts
Yeah drives me fucking crazy how everyone is jumping down this throat
Yeah well if he wasn't a coward and just told them at the draft guess what...this wouldnt be an issue. Instead he much like a child basically threw a tantrum because he may have had to play one more season in college...boo hoo if that was important to you then you should have made that known at the draft, hasn't played a single NHL game and is acting entitled.... ridiculous
These are great frigging videos! Thanks for posting these!😊
No one cries harder than Leaf fans!

@@AbolishedEmu true lol
I actually like your take on giving the review a time limit. Momentum is lost, it can change the outcome completely and as a betting man, the swings usually go against me 🤣 all for a time limit.
That no one stood up for Matthews is the real issue....
Love the "Leaf Cup Parade Tracker" 🤣
"This save on Sid the middle aged man" is probably one of my favorite jokes of all time
We should all be or have been middle-aged in the manner of Sid forever the Kid.
That lliliberg hit in the lightning Anaheim game was awesome
I think Cory Perry would be a great fit for the Red Wings. We are comfortable with controversy - Probert, Avs bloody rivalry, we use Eminem in our goal horn and we're virtually ignored by the sports media... including this channel.
"they probably won't change it due to sports betting"
Yup, priorities in the correct order right here.
These weekly wrap-ups are the best thing on UA-cam. Love it!
"everything needs to be as fair as possible"
Refs: "Hold my whistle"
I love Torts man!!!!! I wish he could have brought us a cup in New York, the guys is a one of a kind never afraid to tell you what’s on his mind or give a shit who hears it!!!!
Good point about the replay system. Never thought about that. Super interesting
I gotta say, I love your running updates on the Leaf Cup parade. XD
Love your weekly updates
Keep up the great content!
Two requests: 1) include something like "NHL Week X Recap" in these non-deep dive vids, 2) try to be more descriptive and less click-baity with your titles.
Please and thanks!
The NHL's absurdly large blackout restrictions are pissing me off. The NHL makes it very difficult to watch their games in the US.
“10 beers deep into a Sunday night pick up game” outstanding!
I remember a game featuring the Oilers and the Devils. There was a delayed penalty against the Devils and New Jersey got a touch on a pass but the pass got through and the Oilers scored. The refs took 10 minutes to review only to realise that the play can't even be reviewed. My point is that the NHL needs a better system for reviews.
The Bedard situation is interesting. With 6-8 weeks, it seems like he will definitely miss the all star weekend. However, the NHL (as of January 14th) continues to advertise that he is in the all star lineup. If he ends up not playing, hopefully Jones isn’t the substitute. Jason Dickinson as an all star would be really cool tbh as a bit of an underdog. However, I could see bedard still participating in the skills competition being that his injury is facial. The game? probably not but who knows.
Refs handed a game to Boston last night then scurried off the ice.
Took Torts 145 years to realize he is the embodiment of Philadelphia. Love having this man in my city
Lyon for the wings had 108 shots on goal over 3 games and saved 99 of them, even more so over this week
He's the clear #1 but Reimer getting the start tonight in a crucial division game.

NFL had 90 sec reviews when challenges were first implemented and found it impossible to abide by.
What channel are the ‘breakdowns’ on?? Cheers
Love the vids, maybe you could bring up Emil Lilleberg who has been playing great in his first career games for the Lightning
I’ll be honest I’m surprised you didn’t spend more time talking about the clear reffing issue in the Sabres and Canucks game. Of course I have bias being a Sabres fan but the fact that there were two egregious head contacts and only one of them ended with a two minute minor is unbelievable to me and truly shows how bad the refs are in this game. I watch roughly 85% of all hockey games throughout the year and I’ve been fortunate enough to watch many of the Head Contacts live to see the teams reactions and ref reactions at the same time, I’ve also seen people be thrown out of games and get five minute majors for lesser than what I saw in the Sabres game this week. This league has a serious issue, there needs to be some sort of accountability on calls from refs. Maybe they develop a committee that reviews all games post playtime And refs that clearly made incorrect calls get fined or suspended. It’s unfortunate that players have to take stuff like this into their own hands because the refs don’t wanna show up to work.
I would love to see referees be held accountable and have to apologize publicly for egregious mistakes. I think a fine and suspension would be deserved in some cases.
5:05 I think 90 sec is a bit short, but 15 minutes is way too long, I agree with McDavid on that. I'd say 5 minutes could be the limit
Great Breakdown. Stay Warm!
No to offside reviews. Players don't get to slow down time to enter the zone and make sure timing is perfect. As long as it looks good, it is good. We don't need hockey being like football where there it is so complicated if a pass was caught, fumbled or out of bounds -- or pass interference. Offsides is needed for the game to play the way it does, but don't turn this into a big thing.
In the same game Logan O’Connor was also tripped twice in the span of 10 seconds and nothing was called.
I’m curious what your opinions are on the new point system the pwhl input. I want to see the nhl rankings using that system because there’s some teams who’s positions would be changed significantly like the krakens with so many points from OT losses
4:55 been watching hockey for years and I am genuinely 100% convinced the NHL is disallowing goals on purpose just to fuck with people gambling on goal scorers
The Buchnevich play was likely his frustration for only being able to get an empty netter during a goal drought. Also his parents were in town to watch him so the pressure to succeed was there
Nylander hasn't got a point since signing the deal lol
Well made video. Quite nice, good work.
First, not wanting to play, live, sleep, drive through or even fly over Philly just shows good judgement.
Im so glad I found this channel - the best hockey channel by far
As a Flyers fan, I can say that I'm not pissed about this season at all (minus a couple of questionable calls by the refs here and there). I'm overall extremely surprise and impressed. Torts has done an amazing job of getting the team on track way earlier than expected.
PARADE TRACKER IS THE FUNNIEST THING OF THE YEAR😤😤😤
The game two days ago when the Avs played the Bruins, there was a goal Boston scored that the Avs challenged for offisdes. It was on zone entry and the guy receives the puck on the blue line when both of his feet were already over the line. Colorado lost the challenge, and the powerplay the Bruins got resulted in a goal for them, and basically shifted the entire game's outcome. Officiating this poorly will cost teams in the playoffs if it is not fixed, their job is important so it must be done right.
Don't understand how Miller doesn't get 5 and game for hit on Dahlin. Principle point of contact is shoulder to head and he gets 2 for elbowing because he follows the contact driving his elbow upward toward the head. I can't see how it's possible to identify the late elbow on a hit that is already illegal check to head and determine that it is not intent to injure. Baffling.
Not baffling at all. If no player safety is involved must have been OK. In slow-mo the principle point of contact was the chest. He hit the chest first then the shoulder hit his head. I dont think you're an NHL ref so I don't think you're qualified to even make a ridiculous statement. They reviewed it. It was deemed an elbow. Can't change it now.
And I'd agree that Perry and the Leafs would be a perfect fit. They need a cheap upgrade due to how much cap space is being taken up by the core 4 , so any 1 mil contract with grizzled veterans is a blessing for them.
Refs also missed a slashing call late in the game too
Many calls were "missed" across the league yesterday, but it's not rigged 🙄🙄🙄
@@jeffreycairns767it seemed rigged on the Canucks as well, poor laffery scores a goal and gets scorned immediately agyer scoring it, such bull but I mean we came up with the victory so WOOOHOOOOO LETS GO CANUCKKKS
I don't know any other sport where the referees are ruining the game as much.
@philippebergeron5821 Every pro sports league in North America has this happening. It's all rigged. Some aren't as clear as others but it's all the same.
YES A VIDEO ABOUT THE BOYS
I’m a Canucks fan but for the past 2 years I’ve been really impressed by the panthers, they have been working so hard and deserve to be where they are
I think 90 seconds is way too short for rulings, considering they need to be thorough and look at it from all angles. 3min sounds reasonable to me, especially when a goal can make the difference
Just get rid of offside reviews altogether! If an offside is not visible to the human eye, it probably didn't affect the play.
Sports Betting is definitely influencing sports! You have to be a idiot to think its not! Millions if not Billions of dollars bet on everything, from starting lineup to blocked shots in a game! Worst thing is the leagues are advertising it on every commercial break and in-game ads!
But if you have a gambling problem, call this microscopic-sized phone number way down here…
I thought you would bring up the BLATANT trip in OT between the Blues and Bruins.
There's so many missed calls to be covered. He needs to upload about an hour a day of refs screwing up.
I love the Leafs...... Loosing 😂 , nice to see them sing Nylander for more than Pasternak LMFAO
I love this channel your really good at making this type of videos your one of my favourite hockey channel
Be worried about the panthers, unless you’re Nico Daws and the injury-plagued Devils
Sid *the middle aged man* had me crying laughing
Really upset the blues bruins game didn’t get more heat, i know it was a non reviewable goal but thomas got both his feet swept in open ice and the refs didn’t call it leading to a bruins ot win, embarrassing.
The goalie interference goal in the bolts/ kings game. 1., it was a quick whistle a review that led to goal scored then… the goal was ever served because Nick Paul was nudged into the goal and glanced his pad, the goal maintained hos position and made a save, unabated. The save then cause the goalie to lay down to try to smother the puck. A quick whistle saved him but the free puck was rightfully popped into the net. Sad that this was not covered. It took the refs about 4-6 minutes to sort this out after the Kings challenged that the goal was aided by goalie interference.
The damn no call on the trip that won the bruins the game against the blues really made me angry. Why aren’t the officials allowed to review game altering plays like that? Seems backwards to spend so much time on offsides calls and then not even look twice at an obvious penalty that cost a team a win.
Pastrnak was playing the puck and the Blues player skated right into his stick. Pastrnak made 0 motion towards the player’s skate. He played the puck and the guy skated right into the stick, it’s unfortunate but it was not an intentional tripping motion
@@Branflakes1522 If you actually watch the clip, he lifts his stick into Thomas's skate dragging it backward and up. It was an opportunity trip that he made look like Thomas ran into. It was a horrible no-call and all I've seen from Boston fans is them trying to take shots at Blues fans as retaliation for 2019
@@libywarrior910 Yes, and they (Bruins fans) are still slack-jawed over their team's first-round loss last season after steamrolling over the entire league during the season. I would be too.
If a defending player makes contact (with his stick) with the puck, and also contacts the opponent (with his stick) during the same motion that contacted the puck, then there is no violation for Tripping.
Pastrnak’s stick did make contact with the puck, and, during the same motion, Pasta’s stick contacts Thomas’ feet. There is no violation; the referees made the correct (non)call.
“The no-call made me angry.”
Well, you should get anger management counseling. Consider reading the NHL rulebook. Very informative.
There's no motion for his puck movement, he holds his stick steady to get a redirect, and when thomas skates toward him he lifts up the stick (Which is a whole separate movement) and causes Thomas to trip up, making it so he cant contest McAvoy gaining possession.
That trip was an obvious penalty, and the bruins didnt get called on it. Please find something better to do than posting on every game highlight defending the no-call@@BahamutBreaker
