This looks amazing, really excited to try it out:) In terms of exploration, I tend to enjoy utility gates that need 2 complimentary upgrades: One example for your game could be: an area could be unreachable because it’s you’re high up and the closest wall is one your spear bounces off of. One upgrade could allow you to throw the spear harder and have it sink into those types of walls. The other upgrade could make it so when you jump onto a spear that’s stuck in the wall, you can bounce higher on it rather than simply use it as a platform. On their own, they can get to different places due to their utility but together they can access places like the one I initially described. Those types of bottlenecks tend to help the guided nonlinear aspect of the genre since the complimentary upgrades can be found in either order but allow you to ensure they’re both obtained before introducing a new area designed around the player having both. Complimentary upgrades are just rad in general imo :)
@@NeatGames I’m sure you’ve accounted for a ton of stuff already since this looks quite polished but since you asked for feedback on exploration I figured I’d give my 2 cents :)
Well sir i just wana say that your game is neet! i thought I made a cool game myself but just browsing random discord remind me how much road I still have in front of me ! i hope to see a demo coming soon
Thanks a bunch! Making even a mid-tier metroidvania takes a long time haha. My scope goal is to be similar sized and featured as Haiku the Robot/ Islets / Lone Fungus and those games made 190~500 thousand dollars on Steam :D
@@AnEmortalKid Oh each room is a scene, there is a map manager that is 'don't destroy on load' and it saves and loads any room the player already visited :D(just the map tiles) might not be the best system but it works haha
I just had a lot of cool ideas to use it haha, like your heal you have to be a seed + you can move while healing. Lore wise it's because he can use "Lifebloom" magic, which lets him turn into a seed and control the spear better than most~
Let's go new devlog!! This is gonna be epic 🎉
Thanks Marxy!! I hope it was a little epic :D
Great video! All those environments look fantastic. And that map looks enormous. Everything is looking very polished too. Nice job! 🎉

this is pretty cool
Thanks :D
It’s coming along so well !! How did you do your map?
Thanks! It's a 2nd Camera that only sees a certain layer (That layer is just an outline of the platforming tiles :D)
@@NeatGames oh wow so you have the whole game in one scene or are using additive scenes and the camera just sees them all ?

Your speech bubble is great, how did you learn to put effects on the text?
I used a text animator typewriter asset and modified it a bit :D
@NeatGames I always forget you can use pre existing assets haha
your youtube channel is good at to learn english
Oh thanks~ and hello :D
