I think you mean VFX not CGI, there was very little CGI in TNG when it originally aired. The crystalline entity was CGI. There has been some CGI added to the remaster, There's some very bad CGI in the second season or a constellation class ship. It's really to bad star trek has been destroyed by idiots.

I love them all so much. They have always had such incredible chemistry together. Wil Wheaton was so adorable- he always made me feel connected to the show as a kid.

Also he is the father of the series, it's entirely his brainchild, even all the new awful trek nobody even likes or watches owe their existence to him

I also heard that Discovery got cancelled because of low ratings, compare that with TNG which went off air at the absolute height of its popularity solely because they wanted to make movies with the cast because the show was that popular.
I recall myself as kid watching TOS in our B&W TV and playing Kirk and crew with my friends afterwards!! Then as a teenager discovering a new generation of adventurers with TNG was mind blowing... so many years now plagued with memories of beautiful sci-fi.. Wow 1987, Season 1. Dang.... I was only 11 yrs old, a few yrs younger than Wesley. The Crew aged a little from Season 1 to Season 7. I was so disappointed when they killed off Tasha Yar on Season 1. I missed her on the show.
I didn't know the opening to TNG was actually the opening to TMP until I saw TMP for the very first time. I was like this is TNG's opening so this is where it came from. Cool! Been my favorite Trek theme ever since. RIP Jerry Goldsmith.

But it seems that was all in my head after all. Still a great actor. He sure fooled me into thinking differently of him.

TNG was my Star Trek. I had seen the originals of course, but this was the show that had enough believable CGI and story to be truly remarkable.

Charming. Interesting there's the concept of 15 year missions. I love the concept of the Galaxy class; true exploration.
In story line, Riker takes command exa the fifteen years after encounter at far point. He is Picard’s first officer from 2364 to 2379.
I watched this show using rabbit ear antennas on a 13 “ TV 📺- but got hooked more than the original Star Trek I watched as a kid.

You have to remember that our perspective changes as we grow older, so of course watching it again now is so much different than when we first saw it.
