Great Video my friend, Billingsgate was a breakfast stop for me and my colleagues when we were working for London Underground on night shift... But the "3 am one stop" for railway workers, "women of the night" and coppers, is the Bagel Shop in Brick Lane. When I was visiting there, there were two next to each other... one jam packed with people (mostly wearing full orange workwear) and the other hardly anyone! Salt Beef and Mustard and a cup of tea that the spoon will stand up in. If you want another early morning, go look!!
In 1981 moved to NZ ,in the hotel I cooked in , we had crumbed fish and fried eggs on the breakfast menu ,they were very popular ,on a busy breakfast could go through a 10kg box of fish ,we crumbed the fish before hand .Love the show and the variety of types of catering places you visit.

I've lived in the North and South of England and the breakfasts in the South always come swimming in watery beans, always puts me off, here in the North ots a thicker, smaller portion which leaves more room on the plate for the good stuff, black pudding, sausages and bacon etc
Hi, Gary. Top post, pal. I'm a chef so I'm used to eating at 3am. Scallops, bacon, and bread - Angels On Horseback, basically, just scallops instead of oysters - what a great idea, bet it tasted amazing. I'd like to say I'll have that for breakfast tmoz before work, but I'm pretty sure it'll be my usual Marmite on toast with Crunchy Nut Cornflakes! Sounded like a very good price given the location and quality tbf. 👍

A fiver for fresh scallops and bacon in a roll, plus a tea or coffee is amazing value! Thanks for sharing this - came up randomly in my homepage, sure I'll browse for more of your videos 🙂
I agree with you. I really enjoyed this one, Aaron.
As always, let’s give it (an early morning) go!
As always!! (Far too early)
I’ve actually visited both the bagel shops but unfortunately the video didn’t work, I understand one is now closing ?
@@GaryEats Yeah it does not surprise me... one was usually empty whenever I was there 😀
I think it’s the oldest one which is a shame
In 1981 moved to NZ ,in the hotel I cooked in , we had crumbed fish and fried eggs on the breakfast menu ,they were very popular ,on a busy breakfast could go through a 10kg box of fish ,we crumbed the fish before hand .Love the show and the variety of types of catering places you visit.
Thank you. Please take care in NZ
The UK’s no.1 food reviewer back doing what he does best 👌
That’s so kind to say Neil thank you 🙏
Get yourself to the Heyman food arcade in southall
I'll check it out
Break your heyman
Loved your video today Gary. I think it is the best one yet. Fantastic seeing Billingsgate Market and your face when you bit into the roll, I was in stitiches. What fantastic food and value.
Thank you very much Melanie I really enjoyed this one x
Gary, do you even have an appetite at 4 AM? I know I don't. 🤣
I was just thinking..... your 1 year anniversary is coming up next month. I remember when you first started. I liked you right from the start, and I've even learned a few things about how to properly drink tea! I drink iced tea here in northern Michigan, USA, despite the brutal winters.
This food looks tasty and plentiful. It looks like you needed a moment with that sandwich. 🤣
As always, thank you for bringing us along. 💜
I must say Susan, I do not lol. I couldn't go for the kippers or seabass as I wasn't really in the mood for it!! Thank you ever so much
Easy, just stay up drinking until late.
Brilliant! Loved the video 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Used to deliver here from Newlyn in Cornwall & always looked forward to getting in the cafe.Lots of great photos on the walls & if you were on time time the porters would look after you & buy you a great bacon roll.
That’s great to hear Paul
As someone who did nights for years
It's beautiful. Cheers Gary lovely man
Shame about the crap ads.
Thank you and apologies for the ads but that helps pay to do the videos 👌
If you go UA-cam Premium as I have you don't see any ads.
Gary ❤Your hard work & dedication will take you onto the Next Level Gary 👏
You're lovely Siva thank you
@@GaryEats Glad that cameraman wake at 3am😂
It was a struggle lol 😂
@@GaryEats lol😂
Well this certainly is dedication to the chanel. Getting up to do a review at 3am deserves, 100k subscribers. Loved that massive breakfast. Don't think i could eat all that at that time of the morning though. Well done Gary and Mr Cameraman.
Thanks a ton Charlie, means a lot
Absolutely huge breakfast. Well done for smashing that at 4am!
It was a challenge
A sober fry up with fish at 4 in the morning is throwing your dumps off, there's absolutely no doubt about that.
Lol I'll be honest SPencer, I didn't fancy so much fish at that time lol
My fave review so far, so lovely to see London in the early hours❤ thank u😊
That’s real,y appreciated Nicky x
GARY IM IN BRIGHTON ON MY OWN!! XX
I reckon if you got scallops and bacon he’ll be there!…😂
Have a great time!!
Still smiling at this godly hour what you do for your channel is amazing the happiest you tuber that I know x
Thank you ever so much Jayne, means a lot
How can people not like hash browns! Great as always.
Hash browns are the devil's poop.
No-one with an ounce of sense would go anywhere near a hash brown. They're revolting!
I'm happy to have them
I love them 👍
@@djstuc I do indeed, but when it comes to cheap disgusting American garbage like hash browns, there is only one opinion that matters...the correct one.
Lots of London markets have those early doors cafes for fry ups, fish and chips even steaks etc for the workers and public nice vid.
With brilliant quality 👍
You just soothe my soul after a long week gaz. Keep doing your thing.❤
Oh that's very kind Ben thank you
Brilliant surf and turf combo.
Yep
Bacon roll with scallops, who’d have thought it, what luxury! …now also my favourite breakfast. I just showed this to my son who regularly travels to London for the night club scene. Having seen this he now intends to make this his (with his mates) a regular stop while waiting for the early trains to restart. Great find Gary.
It’s so definitely worth a visit Nick he won’t be disappointed, get him to pick you up some fresh fish to bring home lol 😜
That breakfast looked good - one of my pet hates is beans served in a ramekin rather than just on the plate. And that toast looked so good.
I have to say on this occasion, I really enjoyed the roll
@@GaryEats Yes that looked good too, but we hadn't got there when I commented. I'd be interested to see what you did with the scallops - ideas for the future maybe, "Gary Cooks"
Gary, I’ve been with you since 7k subs. Love your videos and your honesty. Keep at it, you and cameraman are doing great!
I appreciate that Andy, really means a lot when I see old subs say that
Brilliant video!! Yes as a young boy I was dragged by the chef I worked for to Billingsgate after a service at indeed 4 o’clock in the morning. Huge massive experience! never forget it!
Great memories Chris nice
Great vid as always. Love the added history. Thanks !
I really appreciate that, thank you Donna
Great vid, big smiles for this 😀 love your enthusiasm. Many thanks as always Gary.
That’s very kind to say John thank you
Love your enthusiasm
Thank you very much
I love seeing that you're up for anything. I'd love to see some kippers on the channel. I remember those fondly from when I visited the UK. Lovely, smoky kippers.
Kippers are coming don't worry
I'm sure you had a fabulous day after that great start! Your enthusiasm is infectious 😊
I really enjoyed doing this review, but I did get back late from Ireland the night before then done this review then went back and had to do comments all day, so it was a bit of a long one but a lot of fun
2:26 love that lobster trying to make a snappy escape
He did try to escape, but he didn’t get far
Aaaah 😊 love you Gary (and your son-the-cameraman❤) Thank you so much. From a wintery South Africa 🎉
That’s so kind Marina and we love you too 🇿🇦
Great to see you so happy. You sell it so well. A dream.
That’s very kind thank you
Another amazing review Gary You always cheer up any dull day I could almost taste that terrific scallop and bacon roll! Thanks for sharing your passion for good food
That’s very kind to say Rob thank you
Hi Gary, I’m an English guy now living in California missing a great English breakfast, loving your channel. Keep it up!!!
Thank you Kevin and appreciate you watching 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I've lived in the North and South of England and the breakfasts in the South always come swimming in watery beans, always puts me off, here in the North ots a thicker, smaller portion which leaves more room on the plate for the good stuff, black pudding, sausages and bacon etc
No problem Jason you have the beans exactly as you enjoy 👌
You’ve done it again, Gary. I wasn’t expecting this. Love the way you mix up your reviews. Those scallops looked delicious. Cheers, mate!
Thank you we do try to mix the video up 👌
Great video as ever, thanks, but I wish you'd gone for the haddock or kipper breakfast ...
I understand your point completely, Colin
Oh my days…. Wow! The Scallops and Bacon Roll, that’s heaven for me!! The breakfast looked delicious to! Fantastic video mate!! ….Smithy
Thank you very much Smithy I really enjoyed this one 💯👌
👍
It was excellent and as a chef have you tried bacon with scallops as I’d be interested, mostly because I loved it 👌🤷♂️
@@GaryEats Many times, mate, in different forms. Monkfish wrapped in parma ham, baked halibut with pancetta, etc. It's one of those odd combinations that really work if you get the balance right.
That’s so good to hear, thank you for the information it’s really appreciated 👍
@GaryEats You're welcome. Scallops with black pudding is another good example. Keep the great posts coming 👍.
WOW - fantastic treat. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video early start really taking one for the team! Scallops a big favourite of mine and the portion control on that crusty roll was definitely customer orientated. Good big breakfast plate and a well reserved 9.5. Enthusiastic review as ever and much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your kind comment
Legend, really appreciate that, as will my mate. Keep up the great work! 👏👏
Thank you very much
Gary great to see you so lively at such an early hour After that breakfast so full of beans. Really enjoy your enthusiasm and great reviews
Thank you very much Martin
Great video Gaz. Very entertaining your our working class hero keep doing what your doing
Thank you very much Bryan
Gary,
Billingsgate Market.
Yet another place of value on the channel.!
The breakfast & the roll both looked superb, & fairly decently priced, especially for the location.
I love getting up early & avoiding the morning rush, can't fault ya mate 👏
All the very best!
Cheers 🍻
Top man Tel, really appreciate your comments as always
@@GaryEats No worries Gary, I absolutely love it mate 👍
The fish can get a lot fresher if you live in a coastal town. In Aldeburgh they sold it straight from the boat to a shack on the beach. Great review though Gary.
Thank you Matt
omg 4am here in portugal watching you and drooling glad ive got some wine
lol enjoy Sean 🍷🍷🍷
What an unusual and absolutely inspired idea for a video! Brilliant! That market looked absolutely amazing!
It reminds me of when I used to be lucky enough to go to the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show every year - dealers by the mile, many under huge tents with their individual stalls lined up, an incredible sense of fun, and brilliant deals on amazing merchandise.
A TG&M Show for food ... I am dazzled. And the commitment from you and the cameraman is stunning.
That breakfast looked like a great reward, and the sandwich especially ... I'll be trying to do a version of that. Thank you so much - and thanks to the fish market and staff for their locale!
I agree with you Heidi we forget the dedication of the staff, this was such fun with top quality ingredients 👌. Have a lovely weekend 🙏
@@GaryEats Back at you and yours.
I just love watching your videos, the way you explain your meals is wonderful and like so many others I look forward to watching you!
Thank you very much Debra 💯👌
