The word ‘innit’ is part of an urban London dialect amongst the working classes, particularly immigrants, of the late 20th century.

One thing not mentioned is the incredible class and memory of this wonderful man’s father. My own father used to have breakfast here in the ‘70s when he was starting out in the East End. Thirty years later, after moving away, he brought his two sons to relive the old days. This man’s dad dutifully took my and my brother’s orders but skipped my dad. After he left the table, my dad asked if he could order as well. The man simply replied, “I assumed you would have the usual,” remembering my dad’s order after nearly 30 years. It was an amazing thing to witness and taught me so much about how food is so much more than just the items on your plate. It remains the most memorable breakfast I have ever had.

You guys really should try and do Di Lietos on Fleet Street on the Strand in London next. Family run, homemade sandwich shop that starts sharp at 6 and is active till 3 PM, creating the best sandwiches in the city. They’ve been around for over a century as well and I’ve stood in line for over 45 minutes at times to get a sandwich during the office rush hour. The sandwiches are heavenly, the best I’ve probably had in London, absolutely freshly made along with the freshest of cheeses and toppings. Never miss having them whenever I’m in London

My Grandad took me here when me and me brother were nippers. It was our holiday treat. Week with nan and grandad meant a posh breakfast, with a lovely hot chocolate and if we were lucky the guvnor would give us an Italian biscuit or a bit of cake. As we grew up we helped my old man on his bread run. Bit of pocket money and a bacon sarnie in the cafe. The old boy was good as gold. Always saying hello. Made you feel all grown up. As soon as my boy could sit up I took him in for his go. Cuppa and some brecky. We’ve all moved away now. Family is all over the shop. But I still pop in if I’m in the smoke. But it’s a rare treat now. Watching this brought it all back. I hope this gaff never closes. It’s a piece of history. Lovely people. Lovely scran. Salt of the earth.
God bless em all. I could murder a full English now. Look at that fried bread! I’d have the lot and see if he could rustle up a bit of bubble as well.

    E. Pellicci is a proper London cafe (pronounced like calf not caf-ay) and real institution. Friend of mine was there last year for the Veggie Have The Lot and a chat w/ Nevio, who is just as awesome as he is here!

I went here 10 years ago for one of their fry ups. Great portion size, great price, great people. If I didnt live on the other side of the city I'd be there all the time!

Used to always go here when we are in the smoke. Over the last few years word ( and the Legend film) has got out though, and its full of tourists and very busy.
