This drama first aired when I was the grand old age of 12, and for some reason it always stuck with me. Now at 32, I'm so delighted to find that most of the series is here on YT. After 11 years living in London and New York, this life change looks like the dream.
Oh my gosh! I watched this when I was 12 too, and it really stuck with me! I had just got a television in my room, and it used to be my Sunday night treat!!
I was 15 when we moved to the country, I'm almost 60 now for the last 45 years it been heaven on earth to me. I've had horse's that gave me true freedom. the bare earth gives and energy that blacktop and city life just blocks out. I can't explain how much I smiled and laughed watching this show. I really hope its a long lasting series. "Whats a mouse look like ?" "Oh its just a little thing" "Then, thats not a mouse is it ?" LOL
this was filmed 23 yrs ago but its a pleasure to watch back there everything seemed care free an normal thanks bbc love watching anything british God bless xox
I'm so thankful every time I get lucky and have the distinct pleasure of finding and watching yet another fabulous bbc series and free to watch to boot! On season 2 ep 8 in less than 24 hrs . fingers crossed on my next bbc find.
Just happen to come across this gem. Timely, Kinda tired of watching movies about ultra rich people, & nice to watch movie made of average middle class folks. Thanks for Good upload of Good entertainment.
What a nice show! Really like the premise. Nowadays Devon is so expensive that you wouldn't be able to do this. Weekend townies have bought up all the properties like this.💜
Not sure if middle class is the same in the U.K and America. Take this rule of thumb. In the UK, the middle classes are also known as the professional classes, so for example, a doctor is middle class and a plumber isn't, even if the plumber is a multi millionaire with a plumbing empire. Money and class are not really related in our culture, it's more about education. Also we have an aristocracy, the upper class, which is not open to anyone other than by marriage possibly. In England there are many working class people, musicians, footballers etc, who are richer than much of the upper class
@@beyondlondon8600 Working class trying to move up.......and he appears to be a decent man and wife living a decent life with the flaws.......wondering in AMERICA are these the the ones that goes to the rallies of the grither......No......don't think so and hope not.
WHEN will parents LEARN,you have to be the parent,NOT friend, kids do as they are told, NOT asked. Familiarity breeds contempt and this daughter shows it.
The most beautiful calf I have ever seen! What a cutie. I hope that in real life this calf has a long and happy life, and does not end up abused, in a factory farm...
Hi ! I haven't watched yet so can't affirm on cuteness of it, but I too, hope it lived a happy life. As a former dairy farmer, I have known MANY calves in my day, and very much desire no animal anywhere ever suffers true abuse or etc. . I also am a big fan of (true) regenerative farming methods AND livestock care practices which -as closely as possible in one's climate- mimic how God created these animals to live on the earth and what would be "natural" for them. That said, even farming practices which are far from 100% ideal as ideal can be, are not necessarily on the level with "abuse", any more than would be the actions of a parent who raises her kids in an apt. building, with fairly limited time spent at parks or excursions into "nature" or who gives her kids any foods less than 100% naturally grown and made with only 100% wholesome ingredients... . What may be technically falling into the category of abuse, compared to what is truly and purely 100% right and good, isn't necessarily going to be felt as suffering by the recipient, nor have definite, "serious" or lasting negative effects on them- at least, to a degree that's going to truly make much of a difference in a life which ultimately IS short and fraught with risks and at least some unhappiness, discomfort, stress and sorrow. NOT that this excuses us from both trying our best, or from drawing and sticking to reasonable lines we don't cross. Sadly, yes, there had gotten to be in our "western world" history ( & I'm sure pockets of it in most places & cultures throughout history) a very low standard of stewardship for both man and beast. Thankfully, there has been for awhile now, a growing trend of top-notch stewardship mindedness among the "back to the land"/homesteading and small farming movements/"communities". While yes, many "factory farms' cattle are now rarely out in the sunshine and walking on lush pastures, SOME DO. And many a small family farm which one would not categorize as seeming like a "factory farm" in it's set-up, actually have a range of poor to terrible conditions and practices, I have personally witnessed. Much more animal discomfort & filthy conditions than most factory farms I know of.
It was a pivotal day in my life when Dad and I had to pull a calf with the cow stuck in the mud of a creek. Her tail was in the water. Calf and Cow both lived. We were in the water over 4 hrs. and I lost both my boots in the mud. Nothing like a birthday in the country.
I actually CRIED when that Calf was born. It was THEE defining moment when the ENTIRE family, including the EXTREMELY unhappy teen girl who didn't want to go or move at ALL, pulled together and watched new life come forth. I'm TOTALLY in Love with this Series already after literally less than the first half hour... but..the Calf BIRTH and it's moment of STANDING UP... the family stood as ONE in awe of a new life brought before them, not to mention, the Dad saved that Cow and her Calf by DOING the "gross, hard part" that sometimes happens.. to humans or animals... Thank You for Uploading this Series. 😇🙏😘

I loved this series because of Tony Hadley's theme tune at the end of the show. I still have the soundtrack of it as a CD.although it doesnt sound like that on my CD!
I fell in love with this show , I watched it over snd over and 6 months later I am drawn back to watch it all again. Very well written and the actors are all wonderful. When Brian died I was heartbroken as the following episodes let us know this family would be soon be gone . I watched several episodes with new characters and it didn’t really care for it, ut I decided
Sorry I wasn’t finished..I decided to watch the new series into 6 episodes trying to not be predudice. Still trying to move through the rest with an open heart . Thank you for putting this show on UTube.
Love how the Goldie is in doggie heaven when Faith first walks through the field toward the house! I've done renovations before, would love to get my hands on that spot.
Very nice, indeed. For me as a non-British person it's like like a quiz concerning the actors: First I saw the man I recognized from "A clockwork orange", than I saw the woman I knew from "Broadchurch". This is fun ;-). PS: the two sadest words in English language aren't "if only" but "too late" IMHO....

Makes me wonder whether any adaptation stays true to the original book? I'd imagine the author would need close contact with production, especially the director & producer. It would depend on the terms of the contract signed, & how much influence the author still had.

Tealcorvette Agree. The ultra-rich are so boring. Even in Columbo. He’s almost the only interesting person in the series!
Definitely working class (by U.K. standards) not middle class.
