  • I’ve just purchased Stoney End Ena double strung harp, something I’ve wanted for a number of years!
The harp has two sets of 22 strings, and is fully levered. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and comfortable to play.
I feel I’m learning the harp again, and it’s a learning curve, as it’s difficult to see the strings clearly, and I’m seeing “double”. I will persevere, as I love the sound of this harp!
I bought the harp through Carolyn Deal:

I hope you enjoy this presentation!

Thank you! It’s a double strung harp - the cross strung harp is different again! I only had the harp a week when I recorded this video. The technique is the same as a single strung harp, but there’s more you can do - for example, you can play with both hands in the same position and don’t have to keep them apart. The main difficulty is getting used to seeing two sets of strings, which apparently causes some people to give up. It is getting easier though.

It’s hard to get used to seeing two sets of strings, but it’s getting easier with practice. There’s things you can do on the double string that you can’t do on a single string harp. Overall , I would say it’s like any instrument and takes practice. I hope that helps
