Not sure when you were there but we just returned from the Starfish and they are suffering from several shortages including toilet paper. The only condiment I saw was mustard. No ketchup BBQ sauce etc. and no snacks at the snack bar 😕.The buffet and drinks at Playa Sirena are no longer included.
Oh wow, we were there last July. This is really saddening, thank you for letting us know I will pin this comment so people can be aware. The people of Cuba must be suffering a lot 🥺😢
@@stevecameron52 Exactly, we have a family member who lives in Matanzas (close to Varadero) and she spent a few months here and just went back, but the stories she told us were terrible. She is fine because she returns with tons of food in her luggage and will come back to Canada in a few months this year, but what about all the people that don’t have family abroad to help out?
This is the first time I have seen ketchup or mustard in Cuba. The pizza looked not too bad for Cuba. At another resort in Cayo Coco the pizza was...well it wasn't pizza.
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, for us too, it was a first. This is what we were told: Sunwing is managing all the hotels on Cayo Largo. No other company goes there. On their flights they bring Canadian food items such as mustard and Heinz Ketchup, pasta etc. Sorry about your pizza experience. We were lucky it seems because our pizzas were delicious!
@@globetrottinggang I keep watching resort videos on Cuba to see how the food situation is going for purely selfish reasons. I want to go back there but the food is keeping us away.
@@slipperyjim1497I totally understand. I don’t want to be selfish either, but when it used to cost $1000 less than Dominican or Mexico for all inclusive resorts, we’d think, well okay… but in the last few months I find the prices are very high for Cuba too. I love the Cuba feel, people are so nice, but with such similar prices, I probably would go to DR where food is really good or to Mexico for 🌮
It depends on the week. But there was meat available when we went. Pero tiene razón hay muchos carbohidratos. Si fuera yo, traigo proteína en polvo (shakes) y así llego a mis 160 grams of protein. Hope this helps! Have a nice trip!

@@globetrottinggang and these shortages probably pale in comparison to what the Cuban people are going through.

I go to the gym and need 160 grams of protein per day. It seems tough to get that there, veo puros carbohidratos
