Nice setup! My suggestions on mouse + keyboard upgrade along the line of "good brand quality & affordable" :
- Logitech M650 mouse (silent clicks, infinite & smart scroll wheels, forward & back buttons)
- Logitech MX Keys mini (best typing experience on a non-mechanical keyboard imo while being still super portable and elegant looking)
I am a big tech worker & enthusiast (also in nyc) and have used dozens of different mouse & keyboards including these 2 ^ which are my go-to recommendation for any "average person" :)
