Hi there! Quick question. In one of your 2017 videos you explained how you pre-bloomed dyes and kept them in squirt bottles. In this video though, you bloomed the dye right before adding to the mix. Why the change? Just super curious if one method works better than another. Thank you! - Kerry
Good eye!! Yes I found that to get super intense color with the dye mixed in bottles wasn’t working well for me bc it was making my mix too wet. I hate waiting so I switched up how I use my colors. I much prefer the updated method.
Do you use dehumidifier or something like that to keep humidity? I know someone use it to keep humidity about 40%. It's a great problem for me...too humid and bombs don't dry, too dry and they become powdery.
Question: would a small hand mixer be a good starter? I don’t own a big mixing bowl or anything but I do have a hand mixer! Would it work just as good starting out since I won’t be doing any mass production any time soon?
No, water will activate the mix. If you want to add water as a binder, I’d do it before adding the citric acid. Just make sure you mix well! Hope this helps!
Omg lol I am having an anxiety attack looking at your beautiful white countertops while you are using dyes! They turned out absolutely amazing, thank you so much for sharing. Take care
Thank you for this video it was very educational. I've been interested in making and selling bath bombs. I've been reading a lot about how the dyes have to be FDA approved. Have you ran into any issues like that when making yours? I'm currently looking for FDA approved dyes
hello! liked and subscribed! at the end, how do they dry? do you coat them with anything to make them hard? and how long do you let them sit on the dryer rack before packaging? Thank you!
Nike they don’t need to be coated with anything! I typically let them sit for at least 24 hours in a climate controlled room before packaging up. The less humidity the better 🥰
Everytime I make bath bombs the water reacts with the ingredients and it fizzes. Then when I put them in the mold it doesn't stick together and just comes out crumbly. Any tips on how to fix that?
Hey Rebel Queen! One way is to mix everything and add your citric acid last. Another way is to add very "small" amounts of your wetting liquid (whichever you use in your recipe) at a time and "immediately" mix it in quickly. A tiny bit of fizzing reaction won't hurt the performance of the bath bomb. You can use a spray bottle and spritz a couple of times, mix well and test the moisture by grabbing a handful and squeezing it...if it clumps together in your hand and then when you drop it in the bowl it doesn't break or crumble apart, your mix should be wet enough. If it does crumble or break apart spritz a couple more times and mix well till you get it to the right moisture content. If yours is crumbly, it sounds like you need to add more wetting liquid, it's too dry but remember... a little at a time! If your mix is "too wet" the bath bombs will expand and not dry properly. You should do just fine, just remember to add the liquid in small amounts. Keep practicing you will eventually get the "feel" of the mix. Hope this might help ya...have a nice day! Big ((Hugs)) from Texas!! xx : )
@@kellyw.1779 thank you. And I have a bathbomb making kit they have all the (dry)ingredients together in a package so there's no way for me to add it last but thank you I'll try that
@@Augustinefields1 Your so welcome. Oh, the kit has everything premixed...that's okay, just add your liquid a little at a time, mix quick and very well before adding more. Then do your clump testing. Ya got this!! Wink wink ; )
Quick question here, what’s the reason why you wait to add citric acid to the mix after? Is it due to the properties fizzing when in contact with the wet ingredients? I haven’t seen this in any tutorials before, but you seem much more informed and I’m just curious.
Carrie Kerins exactly!! I just feel like it makes the final product better in appearance. It’s really a preference but let’s say you added too much liquid.... you will feel it before adding the citric and can save your batch!
NatalieVegas1965 nope! My recipe is very workable. All the binder I ever need is already in the recipe (it was in the wet container) I’ve made up to 65 bombs at once without ever needing to spray more. The key is NOT mixing while you’re working. Aeration = drying
Tabitha Dee either or! Whatever you’re comfortable with. I suggest watching my Bath Bomb for Beginners- Colorants video to get all the differences between lakes and dyes 😊
life of ishmael are you using a personal recipe or the one I provided? To me, if they’re crumbling/ turn to powder and aren’t hard, it sounds like you need to add more wet ingredients.
Great tip on no wait embeds! How do you manage to make such a huge batch without your mix drying on you while you mold? Holy cats! I can spray it say least once or twice without issues during molding, but if I make bigger batch than 900g bs, it usually becomes unworkable before the end.
U R B A N L U N E this amount will vary for everyone based on humidity and batch size. Your specific climate has a lot to do with how much you need so I recommend starting small and adding as you need it.
I was wondering if you have any advise about keeping larger amounts (like yours) from drying out. I've tried several times and it seems once it starts to dry out, no matter how careful I am about spraying ra, it becomes too gritty to work with. Thank you
Cindi Geis I personally start with a much higher binder amount (it was already in my wet container). I never spray extra binder and also NEVER mix it while I’m working. More aeration = faster drying.

No, water will activate the mix. If you want to add water as a binder, I’d do it before adding the citric acid. Just make sure you mix well! Hope this helps!
Thanks for sharing!! Beautiful work as always!! 💜 Do you prep your baking soda for your bubble bars the same way?
Dahlorian Delights nope! I typically use lakes or micas for those so no blooming required ☺️
@@southernskyebeauty6567 okay thanks! Same here. I just got some dyes from Nurture so I was thinking of trying them in bubble bars.
Dahlorian Delights you totally can but I find that the colors migrate much faster using dyes in bubble bars. Just my personal experience.

Very nice. Can you share where you purchased the mold
I live in Texas and of course humid. I bought a dehumidifier and placed in room. Should I dehumidifier at 45 because my bombs are flat.

wouldn't using oil like rice bran be better to mix colors in? I know that's what some people use in soap making when mixing colors to avoid lumps.
EL I’m using dyes so they would not incorporate Into oil. Likely, you were seeing people use micas

How much of the 70 percent alcohol do you put in with the binder, fragrance and poly 80

So what did you put just baking soda and citric and dye?
The video you states that there is polysorbate, 70% alcohol, oil, water, fragrance oil, baking soda, and citric acid. No recipe is given.
Well,u can just add some oil and mold it should work
Where did you get your molds for the bath bombs?
