1. Using food dye will stain your skin and the tub
2. Using powdered sugar, sprinkles and chocolate chips equals giving yourself a yeast infection
3. Be responsible and use soap dye/non-food materials in your bath bombs
4. BuzzFeed should know better since it’s about the third time I see these DIYs in a compilation and every comment section is swarming with comments like this one
three headed mountain dew I'm only 2 bath bombs in, but they've used soap dye for those 2. The sugar and candy is a terrible idea though. What makes these "luxury"? The coconut or essential oils? People so much want to diy Lush bath bombs but the problem is they don't have access to the wonderful ingredients Lush uses that actually have any positive impact on your skin. Coconut oil and Epsom salt isn't going to do any more for your skin in a bath bomb then it would just pouring it into your tub or rubbing on your body after a bath. I just don't get it. All this just for the fizz and color but no actual benefit?
Angela Jung they basically are - it’s just like bath salts, but they fuzz and they’re fancy. they’re great if you’re into taking self care days and you take a nice bath and everything, but there’s hardly any benefit in those. they smell and look nice, i suppose.
the last bath bomb uses food dye and it’s BLACK, it’s going to stain your tub so badly
three headed mountain dew I understand using ones that have ingredients that actually make your skin feel nice, I buy Lush bath bombs and bubble bars all the time. I cut them up into pieces so I can stretch them out and use them each for like 6 baths though bc I'm cheap lol. It just seems like these won't actually do much for your skin is all and it seems like a lot of work for no real benefits. Omg black food coloring?! Buzzfeed is so irresponsible and they never actually get called out on it anywhere but the comments section. Smh.

I love it how in the first bath bomb, no glitter is added. But once they show you how it looks in the bath, the bath is sparkling.

Watermelons Please I make bath bombs and there was one hundred percent glitter in the water. The bubbles are normal but it had glitter suspended in the water.

Some things to use instead of dangerous ingredients:
~ powdered sugar and merangue powder: whip up some soap! There are many recipes online
~sprinkles: shaved soap, drawn on lines or exclude! Better safe than sorry!
~chocolate chips: brown soap, chunks of lotion or conditioner
~Black food colouring: a little bit of activated charcoal (be careful with this)

I don't think sprinkles and powdered sugar would be that good for your skin, but it probably would smell nice😅 maybe use colored soap shavings instead of sprinkles? Or talcum powder instead of powdered sugar?
P.S: desecrating that cookie with polish and hot glue near about made me cry, y'all were wrong for doing that😂
Ruth Mekuria I don't know about skin, but bathing in any kind of sugar, powdered or otherwise, is a yeast infection waiting to happen. It's SUCH a bad idea to tell people to do this

Also wtf is luxurious about food themed bath bombs? The only even remotely "luxurious" one was the dragon egg one just because it had a prize inside as that's not the bath bomb standard.

I’ve never had luck with bath bombs made with water. They always end up partially activating and then they don’t fizz as well. I only use oil as my binder, and it makes for a very moisturizing bath. Olive oil works really great if you don’t have coconut oil. Just be careful getting out of the tub because it does get slippery.

If you dont put corn starch into your bath bombs, then i recommend freezing the bath bomb for an hour and taking it out to let it dry for another 2 or 3 hours in the mold because they'll kind of sink and de-shape, which makes it look like its melting. Also, food coloring only stains if there is too much added. Feel free to use food coloring in things such as sugar scrubs and products like these, just add in the colors with caution.

Note: if you want more all natural bath bombs instead of citric acid you could use lemon juice

Virgo Ana yes you can! The corn starch is there to keep the bathbomb together and it’s safe for you but you can substitute it. You can use 1/2 of a tablespoon of polysorbate 80. It’s like an oil and you can get it off of amazon!
Absolutely, but let it freeze for an hour, take it out, and let it dry for another 2 or 3 hours IN THE MOLD. You can leave it out over night too.

If y'all want to sub something for powdered sugar, use cornstarch, it's a main ingredient in powdered sugar.

Roxy Grealy Wal Mart. That's about the cheapest you can get all of these items unless you're buying in bulk or something. Tbh you'd be better off buying bath fizzers at the dollar tree or buying a Lush bath bomb and breaking it up to use for a bunch of baths. I get the bigger bath bombs and bubble bars at Lush and break them into pieces and you still get plenty of color and scent and bubbles in the tub, but you can stretch those big ones into 6-8 baths. I used to use the whole thing and it was so expensive.....then I started breaking them up and realized it worked just as well using less!
Please don't use any of the food items. Sugar will more than likely result in a yeast infection

Maeve Byrnes It's an antibacterial astringent for the most part. You can get it at any Wal mart or Walgreens, anyplace like that in the skincare aisle and the bandaid/first aid aisle.
I use it to both clean out cuts instead of alcohol and mix with rosewater and glycerin to make a toner/face mist:)
They put actual icing on the cupcake ones. Like you could put that on real cupcakes

ZAIRA BAREA it won’t dissolve in the same way.
You can use sea salt and I like pink Himalayan personally. There are tons of different Epsom salts too! Like lavender and coconut
