Yeah it's mainly for business and office use so I'll just use the quest 2 till quest 3 comes out. I hope a lot of the technology trickles down to the quest 3 though.
And VR becomes unbuyable again.. whooptidoo
My thoughs are: Don't care, can't afford.
Interesting to see what the trickle down tech will be on Quest 3. Heck I still use my Quest 1. So that said I will upgrade for Quest 3.

Sticking with my Q2. I mostly game using my gaming PC via virtual desktop anyway.
I think it was mentioned about 3 times during the event that they are targeting the 250m users that buy PCs every year. It's a logical fallacy to think someone planning to spend $1500 on a new laptop will instead choose this device. Cheaper to spend $1100 and get a PICO 4 to get the benefits in form factor.
There's a lot of sins I could've overlooked but the 1-2 hour battery life on both the headset and apparently controllers is very likely going to be a deal-breaker that makes me wait 'til the Q3. At the very least I'm going to wait until people have it in their hands and can give 'real use' impressions, especially in regards to the battery life.
I wish I could be excited about the eye and face tracking, but they won't even be supported over the PCVR link initially and even if that does get fixed I can see most software not really making any effort to support them because the main-line headsets still won't have them.
hopefully this means that Quest 2 will get more dev investment/focus
It seems like a desperate attempt to get ahead of Apple for the Corporate market, rushed before the next generation Snapdragon XR chip was ready. I’ll be interested in the Apple offering but will probably wait for the Quest 3.
Sticking with my Quest 2
I'm waiting for real-world reviews of the controllers - especially when paired with the Quest 2. How good is the tracking in gaming scenarios? Battery life? Any caveats or gremlins in day-to-day use?
We should sell everything we own to buy Quest Pro due to it's so pro 🤣
I will buy it, bcos i always dizzy when play vr, mix reality function is the real point of this new headset, and no other headset can do that, so i m going to buy it.
Looks good but definitely a bit rich for me, but I'm pretty interested in the facial expression stuff from a nerv pov.
Definitely not enough improvements on the gaming side to make this of any interest to me, however, since the controllers are confirmed to also be compatible with the Quest 2 (they're being sold separately for $300), I'm going to wait a bit and see if they do make any meaningful difference to existing games (especially sports games like Golf+) and might consider shelling out for them while we all wait for the eventual proper Quest 3.
Can't afford this but it shows technology that will eventually end up in cheaper headsets. It's a look into the future. Except the battery life.

I'm more than a little fascinated by all the dismay at the Quest Pro essentially being for Business use (with a price to match)... you know, just like Meta has, for the last several months, been saying it would be. I'm also rather fascinated that Zuck even decided to present the Quest Pro on what has historically been a consumer showcase, when the "star" of the show isn't really aimed at the audience.
With that said, and considering the number of non-enthusiast VR users Meta gathered in with the Quest 2, I don't really expect most of them to be all that fired up--as I admit I am--over the Pico Neo 4, especially in the US.
Unless Bytedance decides to release the Pico Neo 4 in the States, accompanied by a pretty big ad campaign, I think most of those "ordinary" VR consumers will continue enjoying their Quest 2s (or letting them gather dust in the nearest closet). When the Quest 3 comes out, a goodly number of them will upgrade to it, though not, by any means, all of them. i
Nor will anywhere near a majority of current Quest 2 users pay even more than the cost of the Quest Pro for an Apple headset. Not only because they will think it's way too much money, but because Apple is, at this juncture, still saying that they plan to make a very limited number of their VR/AR devices, relative to the potential number of Apple customers, at all.
Hell, if Meta comes even somewhat close to subsidizing the Quest 3 as they did the Quest 2, they'll likely gain even more "everyday" VR/AR users.
That is, providing they can fix the Hot Mess that Horizons apparently is at this time in a timely manner.
I think the controllers is where quite a bit of money is at since it is now handling the tracking on each one. The PSVR2 is not going to be cheap after you factor in the console. Quest still has the market cornered with the price. The Pico seems nice but it is going to struggle due to closed markets. I do not know how they got the cost of theirs down so low.

The same way Facebook/Meta did: massive subsidization.
I don't see a revolution for gamers here and too expansive for gaming.
And still not an easy fix for people who use glases.
I will wait for the PS5 VR and keep my Quest 2 for what it's playing now. (Beat saber and a few games).
PICO..... maybe if the price and the games are right.

Don't begrudge Zucks Teleprompter mate, Lizard people struggle with English. I want to WIN one of these, I could never justify the cost of this in AUD :'(

So basically... this isn't a gaming headset.
With one to two hours battery life and two hours charging time it's NEITHER for gamers NOR for business. It's just expensive crap. 😝 I'm super disappointed, I really wanted to buy it. But not for 1.800 Euros and more with not being able to stay for two hours in VR.
What a waste - this should have been a gaming piece of kit, can’t see this going well, imagine that design and spec for a truly gaming headset - it would be massive
