Gene Watson is one of the most under rated singers in Country Music! You will have to try his 14 Karat mind! One of his best!
You are 💯 right! A voice like no other!❤
I absolutely agree...he is magnificent!!
He still sounds just as good now
Great tune. My band still plays that song every now and then. We play mostly classic rock and blues, but we'll still play some of the classic country tunes from the 80's and earlier. Gene's song Speak Softly is another one we play.
My wife’s cousin died with dementia during covid. He was cremated and his ashes were buried next to his wife 8 months later. At the graveside, we all complied with his request. His adult children asked that everyone grab a Lone Star beer from a cooler beside his headstone. We all toasted Jimmy’s life as this song played.
I've never seen anyone react to Gene Watson. That's awesome. My mother loved to hear him sing. She alway said he was so smooth.
Gene Watson is one of the best that ever has been in country music at farewell party is one of his best song and he can still sing as good as he did back then
All the songs of his you mentioned, but my favorite of Gene Watson is "Paper Rosie"
Love "Paper Rosie"!
A fellow Texan, Gene was born about 35 miles from me. Going to see him perform Dec. 14 in Tyler, TX. He's still going strong at 80! Can still hit that note just as good now as ever!!!
He has a small automotive shop north of Houston called the Toy Shop.
One of the nicest singers you will ever meet. Always stays and signs autographs and takes pictures with his fans.
I had the pleasure of seeing him live...he is amazing..dive a little deeper into his repertoire... he's definitely worth the time...💜💜💜
Gene Watson celebrates 60 years in the business. He can certainly hit all the notes. You really need to listen to his You Gave Me a Mountain and also When a Man Can’t Get a Woman Off His Mind
Thanks, Sebs, for bringing my attention to an old school country weeper. I never heard him sing this great crying in your beer song. By the way I loved beer and country but stopped drinking for health and well being. Hearing Gene belt that out beets any beer buzz. So glad music is my intoxicant! ❤😊
Got to see Gene and The Farewell Party (his band) live in a small venue. Sounded just like his records were playing. He was the real deal.
Gene Watson is called the singers singer. He is 80 years old and still touring.
Wow - you really went old school on this one. Good for you!! Love this song. And loved your reaction. (If possible, the older he got the better his voice on this became.)
One of my favorite, albeit sad, poignant songs by Gene Watson is "One-sided Conversations(with a narrow-minded wall)". Gene has such a unique voice and is one of my favorite Country singers!
Only one thing to say... LOVE IN THE HOT AFTERNOON!!!!
My husband was a fan of gene before he was "the" gene Watson , back when gene was playing the joints down and around CutnShoot Texas . Good man
Love love love gene Watson!❤ can never get enough of his voice, one of the true greats! Timeless
You definitely need to check out him singing this recently. He's so much better now than then. This is a blue print for the perfect country song
Yes! Gene just gets better with age ❤
I agree. He was good back then but a LOT better now.
I love a steel as well! Love this song too!
Great reaction, as usual! You have to do Love In The Hot Afternoon….
One of the best ever in my opinion !
This is my grandmothers favourite song. Since she got Alzheimer’s, it’s one of the few things she remembers. I’ve listened to it so much since she started losing her memory, and i cry every time - so glad you enjoyed it
I grew up hearing Gene Watson on country radio stations. When I was little, I just loved to hear him sing Paper Rosie. If that song was playing on the radio when my dad arrived at the store in his pickup, he would leave the truck running until the song was over, so I listen to the whole thing before we went into the store.
I’m going to see him live in January. He is 80 and still touring! One of country music’s least recognized singers. He’s called a country music singers singer. His rabbit hole is deep!
Gene Watson is a great singer you will do yourself a favor by listening to more by him!
I haven't heard that song in YEARS! Thanks for this reaction.
My favorite (top 3) artists. You should listen to When a Man Can't get A Woman Off his Mind, written by Bill Anderson, it and he are awesome.
Just found Gene recently,I’d been a fan of his 20 years ago,I’ve been listening to his new song with the balomy brothers. If you want to listen to some great new old sounding Country music, that’s it.
Gene, has a great voice and even now in his late 60's early 70's he can still get that high note and still sounds great.
Gene sounds even better now at age 80!!
Now that's country !
I think he sounds better now than he did when this song first come out way back when! You might check him out in the present.😊
Drove body load bulk with Gene's nephew, who would raise outta his seat to hit the big note. Fun times
I saw Gene Watson on March 22. He’s 80 yrs old and sounds just a good or better now. He put on a heck of a show.
Love this song. It gets me in my feels every time.
Yes🎉More Gene!
Love Gene Watson, love when he sings When a man can't get a woman off his mind.
You need to listen to Allan Jackson sing this
Check out Gene Watson and Larry Gatlin singing "The Bitter They Are". Gene is now 80 and he can still sing this song. One of my favorites. Thank you.
I love this channel and Gene Watson is awesome singer
When a Man Can't Get a Woman Off His Mind. Gene simply tears this one up!!!
TY for appreciating his voice
Arguably the greatest country singer without the notoriety.
He sounds fantastic still to this day, I have seen him 3 times
I have long been in love with that man!
I love this song, I never get tire of hearing it.
He's still touring guys. If you get the chance to go see him, do it! You won't regret it.
Gene can sing. Love his voice. Glad you're getting exposure to artists like this. The pedal steel is an interesting instrument. Hard as hell to play. I can play slide guitar and dobro, but not the steel. Always thought they were similar until I tried it. With the pedal steel, not only do you use a slide to get the sounds, you have foot pedals, knee levers and a volume pedal that you have to work. And some steels have two fretboards/necks tuned to different tunings. My cousin (RIP) played one and was really good. I had another friend, Cal Freeman (RIP) who played the steel for many different artists, starting back in the late 50's. He's actually on an episode of Hee Haw, performing with Roy Clark and Gatemouth Brown. They play the instrumental Take the A Train. The video is on UA-cam.
The song is great and that last nite is unbelievable
He can still hit that note too.
I can't say I cared for the song, but the reaction was 🔥. ❤
I Love that you actually listen to the words to the song
One of my Dad's favorites.
The recording is extra outstanding

Gene has a brother named Dale that did some singing also. His song Wine Don't Lie is a pretty good tune also, I'd like for you to do it too
Very enjoyable. Nice.
When somebody asks what is the most depressing country song of all time, I always say, “Farewell Party”.
