It seems like the Golf channel works for the PGA tour. Their coverage is completely bias against the LIV tour and that players are doing what they feel is right for their careers. Right or wrong it's the players choice and this nonsense talk of loyalty sounds very like the indentured servitude that the NCAA got away with for way way too long. Does the PGA let players play in whatever event they want if they fall outside the top 125? Where's the loyalty?

If Heir (referencing Adolfo Hitler) Norman had proposed this in the beginning to stick it to the PGA and get a real tour and gold building game going he would have done so from the outset. The problem is not the Saudi’s and LIV… it is about an ruthless mean man wanting to become GOD… that… is my issue. The Saudi’s never started this and I see nothing wrong with their money v.s. OK ...there could easily be some player confusion as to any legal wording "prohibiting" playing in any "other" golf league/organization ...whatever you want to call it.
This should be very easily rectified by the PGA by revising/amending the "terms & conditions" into the PGA Membership Rules book/contract ....which I hope they do.
The LIV organization/ownership/backing is most recognizably corrupt, wrong, unethical, immoral, and legally, ....incompatible with most of the world, specifically North America.
These 11 golfers were simply GREEDY and could NOT turn away from making some quick $millions$ ....in the case of Mickelson ....quickly paying off his gambling debts for just showing up. There is hardly anything he offered to this particular golf tournament. He played poorly .....hardly worth watching. His "after comments" sounded like they came from a child. I personally would not turn on any future LIV golf tournament covered by any media.
Give the PGA members one more opportunity to make their choice and finalize this issue. That's democracy ....something that does not exist in Saudi Arabia.

Loyalty is a dirty word. Its used to keep college athletes from getting paid while the college reaps millions. Its used by corporations to retain employees while exploiting them. And the PGAT uses it to keep the player NIL rights and not even paid players who show up and miss the cut. In employment and in business loyalty is a dirty word used for exploitation. That was just proven when the LIV players found out their TRUE worth.
IIRC, Phil had to pay $1 million to the PGA tour for the rights to use his own image some years back. Even the NCAA has given its amateur athletes the rights to their NIL (name, image, and likeness) while the PGA Tour has not. This was one of the things Phil wanted to remedy, that each pro Tour golfer should own his personal NIL, not Jay Monahan and the Tour. He never "bit the hand that fed him," he simply wanted to remedy what he perceived as some unfair or unjust Tour policies. IMO, if the Tour had been a bit more flexible and enlightened about things such as this, the LIV would not be as famous as it is. The LIV is now the constant preoccupation of the Tour and the battle lines are drawn.

Betting here that after the dust settles, the PGA will no longer be able to operate as a "charitable" or "non-profit" entity, and will have to legally officialize its business operations.
In 2018, the PGA Tour raked in $1.47 billion USD in revenues and only donated $42.7 million USD of that in charitable contributions, so any argument that they are a non-profit entity is almost guaranteed to be called into question by most judges and juries.
In addition, PGA players are not employees and do not have a CBA (collective bargaining agreement) like all other pro sports leagues in North America do (NHL/NFL/MLB/NBA).
Betting here that will also have to change.
On top of all this, the convoluted and very confusing ranking system, points system, entry system, and exemption status system, will all need to be completely overhauled and standardized under a new merit and qualification model.
It should also be noted that there are lots of players on the Korn Ferry Tour and other minor golf tours where it's not uncommon to see players living out of their cars.
So expect to see major changes made to player and caddie travel expenses having to be covered by the PGA moving forward, which may also extend to the DP World European and Korn Ferry Tours.
If the above list of conceptual changes were already envisioned and implemented by Jay Monahan and the PGA ahead of time, LIV Golf might never have come into existence in the first place.

@Chip in4seven how does the pga have the ability to suspend players (who have to qualify based on their talents alone), based on something like playing in non pga golf tournaments. The pga isn’t their employer so what right do they have over what these professionals do with their talents. It gets to the point of who pays for the travel expenses. If the pga wants these players to be independent workers and pay their own way, what right do they have to bar them from outside events? At that point it looks like the Pga organization is manipulating the market and operating to the detriment of young or less wealthy golf professionals.

There must be something besides the sport that will make the public want to watch it, as many people used to watch Dodger baseball when the late Vin Scully was the broadcaster. David Feherty is simply an entertaining commentator and was an accomplished pro, having once won the Scottish Open and been a Ryder Cup team member and many will watch simply to be entertained by his commentary and Irish humor and accent. He's miles more watchable than that unctuous slimeball Jim Nantz who comes off as phony as the proverbial $3 bill on his broadcasts. The LIV is providing entertainment as well as coverage for its tournaments and this is a smart move.

Some of these players have played 100's of events for the pga but they go and play one event for LIV and that makes them a SOB. Really !!!! Where is the pga loyality to someone like Phil that is over 50 and just wants to play somewhere new and still play a few events on pga also. You are telling me he has not paid his time for them. F the pga and the golf media.
The reason they're suing is pretty clear: these 11 members were members in good standing when they were suspended by the Commissioner. They had met all of their obligations to play 15 Tour events and several met the requirements to be in the FedEx Cup playoffs. The Commissioner suspended them for not getting a release to play in the LIV Tournaments; however, this requirement was not evenly applied for other non-Tour events, and most players never even applied for them. Therefore, applying the rule selectively against these players makes the rule arbitrary and capricious. Said differently, they wanted to punish these players for having the audacity to join a new lucrative venture. Most, if not all, of these 11 players would have continued their membership in the PGA Tour and would have met their obligations to keep their membership cards by ending the year in the top 125 players. They didn't quit the Tour, they were thrown out. Greg Norman said that the LIV contracts with their players will allow them to play in any other events when they play in the 14 events scheduled for 2023. Is the PGA cutting off its nose to spite its face? You could count on the LIV players to try and maintain their playing status in both leagues and, perhaps, LIV would make accommodations to PGA Tour players to play in some LIV events. Jay didn't put his brain in gear before he got a case of the ass.

The reasoning is very clear...on the PGA's side of things. They are trying to protect their business model/empire and just like any other entity would do. The players were told well in advance of consequences of joining the "competitor" LIV Tour and it was publicly announced to the world repeatedly. The PGA didn't stop these men from making their choices and they rightfully made their choices. Why the hell do they want to play a tour the have publicly stated they hate and is 'greedy and criminal'? The irony of the last part of that sentence...

You boycott a sponsored PGA event the whole system emplodes.
So, on the one hand people like to yell restraint of trade, but the flip side of that coin is you can't work for Citibank and at the same time work for JP Morgan Chase.....the difference is the players are not "employees" like in my example. So, if I play on a Monday and Wednesday softball team and play on another team for $10 per game on Tuesday and Thursday, does this give either team or league the right to suspend me for playing in another league? Employment is one thing as you're paid by the company or organization for whom you work, but an individual should have the right to play where he wants, especially in an individual sport like golf. As no less a personage as John Daly has said - and, I paraphrase - "The Tour should work for us but I got the idea that Jay (Monahan) thinks we work for him." Well, lawsuits are flying now, so I'll sit back and wait for the Judges to decide how this all shakes out.
One thing I’m seeing is that the players agreed to the pga terms so they are beholden to them, but in reality not all legal agreements are binding given that not all legal agreements end up being legal. This will need to be looked at and I’m supporting the liv guys if for no other reason than to give the pga management a bad time.
The whole idea of limiting players who you do not own has to be remedied. The PGA for too long has had their cake and ate it too by controlling golf worldwide; Arbitrarily given releases to player to play in others tours around the world. It’s reprehensible. All professional golfers should be for freedom to play anywhere any time. I see Jay Monaham resigning because of his clumsy handling of this matter. What is really shocking is the fact that this is an exhibition league. It doesn’t compete in the same way.
They have that freedom.. AND as a "member" organization with bylaws, the PGA has the right to control their own rules and these guys agree to abide by them.. these LIV guys are just aholes.. doing more damage

The real problem is Greg Norman, he is not developing anything to coexist with pro golf...he is out to destroy the PGA. I don’t get the big deal with Liv Players playing on the pga tour. The PGA should just make their schedule and if Liv players miss the tournament then other players get more starts and more fedex cup points then the players who miss the tournament for Liv. So if the Liv players still make the fedex cup it just shows that they are way better players.
It’s a shame you just don’t get it… it’s not about LIV… it’s about Heir Norman not wanting a tour to combine with the pga or in conjunction… it’s about him wanting to destroy the pga and every tour so he is GOD…. No brokerage firm would allow their medium to top sellers to work for a competitor for the weekend and back to them for the weekdays…. I’m going to watch both. Best of both worlds.
More tours is more OPPORTUNITY for many aspiring young golfers. The addition of LIV tour allows additional golfers to get paid and take care of their families. PGA has a monopoly on people and wants to keep their “ratings” by having all the best players. I say thin it out and pay more young great golfers. Competition is a great thing.

- -- you guys can't have your cake and eat it too. When you guys left PGA to join LIV for money you relinquished your PGA membership. But now you want to play on marquee PGA games. You cannot be member on both competing league, and this cannot play in both LIV and PGA tournaments.
Didn't these fools who went to LIV hear that they cannot play in any PGA events if they play LIV? No FedEx Cup, No Ryder Cup, No President's Cup, No Players, and will have to qualify for majors, but when they only made $10-20 Million a year on the PGA tour that just wasn't enough, or fair.
I thought the reason they went was so they could spend more time with their families, now they want to play more tournaments. I guess they already see they made a big mistake playing in their 3 round, no cut exhibition tourneys.There is No Incentive when you get paid millions before doing anything and nobody cares. They are lucky if they get 50,000 viewers on youtube, and were selling tickets for $1 at Trump's embarrassing spectacle.

The PGA Tour is simply an organizing body for its players and its sponsors. If the Tour goes belly up, the sponsors of each tournament can simply coordinate with other sponsors for dates and hold the tournaments minus any PGA Tour control. It would fall to each sponsor as to who could play in a tournament and it might be better that way. Then again, the sponsor might ask for the LIV to assist. The future should be interesting.
The players have not a single thing to do with this.. it is Heir Norman who has been hell bent for 30 yrs to destroy the PGA…. PGA has a monopoly....competition will make both groups better. There is a place for both...one set in the past and traditions...one to the future and bringing in more young players/viewers. Game is same...just the way it is marketed, hosted, and the pay structure is biggest thing. PGA just doesnt like not having control over everyone.

Personally I don't give a damn either way. Watching golf is like watching paint dry. I find an interesting and disgusting at the same time that firefighters and police officers that put their life on the line every day and get $40,000 or $50,000 a year. But somebody hits a golf ball and makes potentially millions for three or four day event. Generally it's the wealthy that play the game of golf and with wealth comes attitude and self entitlement most of the time. Trump of course endorses the LIV which fits right into my point. Since Saudi Arabia sponsors this league and they have some damn much money over there why don't they build their own golf courses and let Trump and the rest of the golfers go play over there. They'd be doing the world a favor.

I'm not a golfer. I love watching golf. Its the only sport I enjoy watching. As a "fan", I do not understand the confusion surrounding players that leave and go to LIV. Why can't the PGA have player contracts like other athletes? Organizations like the PGA made these golf stars. Why should they get all the exposure, growth and top level competition to hone their skills and become
Household names enabeling them to earn millions in advertising endorsements and then just walk away? I think they should be under contract. I have no interest in watching a golfer, becoming a fan and supporting that player young and coming up, knowing they will just walk off the green when as soon as an organization with millions decides he's ripe for the picking.
I'm watching the FedEx St. jude championship and I don't recognize 1/2 the names! I see Justin Thomas, Finau and Fowler playing and their tem mates are gone. As a fan, its obvious none of them gave a crap about the organization that made them, their fans, or their team mates. Why should we care about you. No returns allowed.

We knew that Phil and a few of the suspended players would sue. Always part of Greg's master plan. Phil had previously stated that he was intending to use the Saudi's and LIV for leverage against the PGA. Presumably the PGA Tour has their ship in order and have anticipated this. One thing for sure, assuming Phil won the right to play on the PGA Tour some how, he will be ripped mercilessly. Greg paid Phil in large part because he thought Phil would recruit lots of other players. But how long was Phil taking money to recruit and promote for LIV before it was revealed he was under contract? Was he doing that recruiting on the sly while already under contract? If he was that was pretty devious. It would come as no surprise considering who his boss is.
