@@TDenterpriser netherlands is the absolute worst, with other nations they are either too irrelevant or you can do something to prevent them from flipping, but with the netherlands there's literally nothing you can do and it will create this absolute terrible frontline ripe to be filled with tons of stacks from the internationale

one funny thing: for some weird reason my kaiserreich wasn't updated with the DLC
when i started playing the game i noticed the political tab was quite broken
and i'm not even joking, when i openned the IMO tab there was a image of Walter White with the text "Jesse, wtf are you talking about"

I was gonna say "this wasn't that bad" at around the 10 minute mark... then you told us about the naval invasions.
The moment it turned into a Napoleon simulator.
Once you're fighting a war on this scale, especially when you buff the enemy nations, it's better just to use the Army Group frontline on fronts you aren't microing. It isn't ideal, but not having to worry about gaping holes in the front while you deal with other things is invaluable.

In my Qing Playthrough the arms market was what decided my game, being able to build up my army in the beginning, but you are right currently the arms market is mostly good for the beginning. The best countries to take advantage of it are countries with heavily unbalanced factory count (which Qing is in Kaiserreich).
If you don't want the frontlines to be so horrible, use Field Marshall frontlines by shift left clicking, this works in all circumstances except some weird crossings (like crimea)
was thinking the same thing, they work so much better and would have solved all of his problems
Pro tip : hold shift when drawing field marshal front lines so all division are treated as one massive army instead of dividing the front line into sections for seperate armies to avoid the kind of shitfuckery seen on the eastern front here

Amusingly, last word I saw was that the German rework was coming this year- as in 2023. And, in fact, there was a teaser that has people thinking we'll get a Progress Report tomorrow (though we'll see if that pans out).
Edit: So turns out there was a Progress Report for Germany today- or at least a Minor Monday for Interwar Germany Lore, with promises of the coming Mondays and Fridays having more lore and gameplay overviews in more Minor Mondays and Progress Reports.
Oh, and as for the actually update? It was said to be "code complete" and in the middle of playtesting. So it's a-coming.
Naval Invasions are the primary reason I prioritize having good defensive specialized divisions guarding every single port that is possible to naval invade. Expensive, but it costs far more men and time to deal with them later.

You don't have to buff anyone. Just make sure that everyone becomes your enemy and you lose your puppets and colonies before or during via settings. The game becomes very challenging but on other hand it really feels that you somehow won against the world alone.
I even named the settings the Scarlett Endsieg.
I thought you could recall volunteer divisions in Kasierriech, or is that just Kasierredux because that's the only one I've played for the past few years.

Amusing German rework was released mere 5 weeks later.
I have a even worse challenge idea for you that literally no one tried because nobody even know that country existed. That is the "Second Volunteer Army" in Kaiserredux, it is a breakaway nation in the 2nd Russia Civil War, and I promise you, it is impossible to beat. You can try to play as the "Western Russian Army" which is a bit easier. But really, REALLY hope you can consider the idea, and doing the impossible :)

It was 24 width, with like 7 medium tanks and 5 mech/mot. Support companies I would use are logistics, maintenance, field hospitals, support AA and engineers

i did this as USA in kx and avoided the civil war. I forced a german revolutionary victory, elected CNT-FAI, and socialist russia all so I could fight them at once. I did this 3 times, and every time it ended in stalemate

I sincerely hate the stab system and war support system it really just sucks.
To your point about the arms market being 'gimmicky', you literally used it as intended in this game, you where a major power with solid industry selling shit to boost your civilian industry (which yeah a lot of AI buys guns when maybe they shouldn't but for the chinese nations, or the nations in civil war it can be really useful to have that early game armaments boost). And 'just build mills' is *fine* before the war, but during a war you can get way more bang for your buck by just straight up buying equipment to fill gaps, shit like infantry equipment is going to be basically the same no matter who you buy it from and it allows you to concentrate your mills on the good shit. Ofc, as germany who doesn't have control of the oceans and DOES have a massive amount of mills that's not nessecary but say as Canada or non-communist France? absolutly worth it.
I think buying should be cheaper, it takes way to long and way to many civs, especially for small countries
