You are SO right about introverts, i went through the exact journey you described as a child and as a result i went inside, decided to shut out the world and then became an introvert. But now i happily consider myself an intoverted extrovert, slowly making my way back to my shiny self 😁

I completely agree with you Irene about introverted people. I had what I now know was social anxiety at a young age, and developed fawning. I can read people extremely well, because I had to. I never developed my true nature and developed an autoimmune dis-ease at 16.
This work answers so many questions about my life. 👌🏻💖

Thank you Irene Lyon! You have put to words so many things I have experienced, but could never explain. I will definitely be watching this one again. Really appreciate your work. Wish I could find a therapist close to me who does the same work as you. Blessings.

Hi Jennifer Garde, Jen here from Team Lyon. I saw your comment about wishing there was a therapist close by who does the same work as Irene and wanted to make sure you're aware that Irene offers a course and a program to teach people about this work.
The course is called the 21 Day Nervous System Tune Up and the program is called SmartBody SmartMind. I'll link to them both in case you'd like to learn more. Many practitioners also do this work online these days, so that's also an option if you'd like to work 1-1 with a trained nervous system practitioner.

Hello Irene, I watched one of your videos a while ago and I can't find it now - could you please help me?
I remember it listed four pilars of healing (kind of): Orienting, Emotions, maybe Self-regulation, and something else. Really want to rewatch it but can't find it! Help! and thank you !

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  2 роки тому +1

Hi Kamila, Seth here with Team Lyon. I asked Irene about this and we aren't 100% sure what you are referring to. There's a video on the 5 Stages of Neuroplastic Healing here... ua-cam.com/video/22HYyGkyL1E/v-deo.html
The only other thing she thought of was the third video in her Healing Trauma video series, the Unorthodox Healing Blueprint: What it takes to really heal. She talks about 5 keys to heal for real and there is also a worksheet that accompanies that video. You can find that here... irenelyon.com/healing-trauma-training-2022/
We aren't sure of anything that mentions four pillars though. You can also try scrolling through your watch history on UA-cam and see if you see it there. Hope something there helps!

@@IreneLyon Hi! Thank you for answering! Unfortunately these are not the videos I'm looking for... Maybe it wasn't about healing or trauma.
I remember there was a text in the bottom left corner of the video:
      ORIENTING
      EMOTIONS
      smthing else
      smthing else
I know I sound weird but I just have this need to find this video and rewatch it.
Thank you againg, I'll keep on watching, I'm rewatching Irene's videos constantly anyway :)

@@IreneLyon Hi team Lyon! Thank you for your support! I've finally found that video!! It's "The polyvagal theory, explained". ua-cam.com/video/8AnHlx3qZ30/v-deo.html
And at 01:20 there's the list of 4 things I've been looking for:
      Emotions
      Attachment
      Communication
      Self-regulation
And basically it's part of the title of S.Porges book on polyvagal theory.
Then Irene says she addresses all 4 of them in one way or another.
Sorry I've been too vague in my explanation, I had an image in my head, but couldn't remember any details!

What if you don't have anyone safe in your life...no one. Never have. I come from a very abusive family and was traumatized repeatedly on a regular basis from as young as I can remember far into adulthood by my family. I now have no contact with any of them. I don't have friends because I don't trust anyone. I am married but my husband is also abusive.

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  2 роки тому +3

Cloud Nine - Mara here with Team Lyon. I'm sorry that you don't have anyone safe. In this case, the key is to begin to build or rebuild a sense of safety within you. From that point, you can connect with others to have positive social engagement and safety. It may require creating a safe living environment first, one that's not abusive. It's possible to start from where you are, with a small intention to find safety in moments each day.

One of these doctors mentioned that for some people the sense of "safe" is itself traumatizing because when we felt "safe" that's when we were abused. Mind blown. I had never heard this. There is something called havening where you gently run your fingertips along your occipital bone from above the eyebrows down around the eyes. Not full circles, half circles. Also gently running your hands down your arms like giving yourself a hug and gently rubbing hands together. There is so much info on you tube. You can do all 3 moves until you sigh or yawn. That activates the nervous system to calm down. Can take a while; like 20 minutes. Hugs

Our daughter has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She was helicopter lifted to her first open heart surgery prep directly after birth.
She's had 3 open heart and multiple cath interventions before age 4.
Do you have a place to point me to for learning more about how that affects her vagus nerve health?

Hello, Sophia from Team Lyon here. Unfortunately, we are not able to consult in this comment section and our team does not comprise of doctors or medical professionals. Irene's work and programs are educational in the means that they provide you education to learn more about the nervous system and practices to help become your own medicine. I hope this makes sense.

    • @IreneLyon

Hi Caroline, Seth here with Team Lyon. Thanks so much for being here! When we are living with unresolved trauma, that makes everything harder for our body, and part of that means our immune system is dampened, as are our repair functions. So resolving trauma and restoring regulation can certainly help with all aspects of human health.

So much trauma for one body. I am a little jealous people today have this information and can start at a younger age. I used anger and major walls to keep people away and just in my 50's am learning to be vulnerable. Good for us for not giving up and realizing there is something better for us at any age!! Hugs.

Hi Maite t. Seth here with Team Lyon. I understand it can be overwhelming. Please consider giving yourself permission to take in this information in small bits with lots of breaks. It's fine to watch for 10 minutes, or even 5, then turn it off. Integrate. Come back the next day. Even learning the theory can start to awaken unresolved trauma in us, and that may be part of why it's feeling like too much.
