    You mentioned that the blow dry side had more volume….but the AirStrait side looked more voluminous to me! Or, it might be that I really really want the AirStrait for myself…. Thanks for the video!

      🤣🤣🤣 It will def be a HG tool for girls with straighter hair than me, that always style their hair straight! but for me, the traditional styling method wins every time. (ps you might be seeing my bad cut and TE re-growth as volume, as the air strait tended to really show those issue)

    I sent my Dyson airstrait back. It does seem to work well initially but I live in a high humidity area and my hair got frizzy after about an hour. It also took me way longer to do my hair. I’m willing to pay the big bucks for a hair tool if it works miracles. This didn’t do that for me. Thanks for this video! I now feel validated. 😊

    Not only does the traditional blowout and flat iron side have more volume but the ends look more sleek and sealed. The airstrait side’s ends look a little less smooth and polished which is also what I found with my own test! I ended up returning the airstrait because of that

    I liked the Airstrait side better, but I might be biased because I want to love the Airstrait since I just bought one. My problem is fine grey hair that ends up getting fluffy and major flyaways. I have a similar haircut to yours. I have the Kevin Murphy Doo Over and Olaplex oil that you used. I did order the Kevin Murphy Super Goo that you used for flyaways. I’m not that great at styling my hair so I thought the Airstrait might help me. My ends tend to look unhealthy even though I use a Dyson hairdryer and the Dyson Corrale. I’m hoping my ends might stay healthier looking. I just finished using my Airstrait and I just wet my already styled hair and didn’t add any product. I’m a little mixed on how I feel about it. My hair turned out sleek, but I still have flyaways! Not as bad, but still there. I will wait to receive the Super Goo. Also I noticed the air coming out the bottom of the Airstrait is very warm on my shoulders and back. I hope in a few days when I have all the products available that I will love it more. Do you use the Kevin Murphy washes and rinses? If so, which ones?

  • @kimberlybigford

    Thanks Mallory! This is exactly what I needed to see since I can't justify getting the Air Strait when I get good results with the Dyson Air Dryer and a Flat Iron. I feel like the Flat Iron just smooths out my hair and keeps it straight even in humidity. It needs that step so it seems pointless to get the Air Strait if it's not a one and done!

  • @cs-yq5ed
    @cs-yq5ed Рік тому +2

    I think you might need your hair a little wetter when you start the Airstraight. By having your hair partially air-dried, it already has a bit of frizz and wave. Also, the Airstraight has a dry hair setting to smooth out the hair after the wet dry. Did you use that setting at all? I think perhaps that should be part of the test. Thanks!

    So I have a question… not really about tools, but, I am curious as to how long you go between washes. I’ve also got naturally curly hair, and I’ve found that when I straightened my hair, I had to do it daily sometimes. I’ve recently (well maybe a year now) started growing it out and leaving it curly. Anyway, just curious how long you can go between washes❤

    If you want more volume with the airstrait, use a round brush as you dry the roots before you use the straightening function. They recommend hitting the roots first anyway so hit it with some volume :). I love my airstrait! I use hot rollers after if I want curls and they hold wonderfully!

    Thanks for such a thorough review!! I really enjoyed all the different tests and check-ins you did!! I have the GHD flat iron and it is amazing!! I also have the Dyson Corrale and love that one too!!! I recently picked up the AirStrait and the first time I used it, I was not happy with my results. My hair is just a couple inches longer than yours but it is far more coarse and curly than yours but it is a fine texture. Normally I would use the Airwrap and follow up with the Corrale and if i were not pressed for time, i’d use the regular Dyson blow dryer and follow with the Corrale.
    So with the Airwrap, i’m super lazy and just section in a few places and blow it dry. I noticed with the Airstrait I needed to have a bit more of a strategy and use smaller pieces to get the look i wanted. I feel like it takes too long to blow dry because i’m very impatient. I think it works best for me on dry hair. The other day I washed my hair and let it air dry, used the Airwrap to knock out the area that was still wet then used the Airstrait on dry hair and it turned out lovely!! It was super straight and flowy, like a professional blowout and i didn’t have to follow up with my Corrale. I found that it held up well to the humidity, rain, and workouts very well! I live in VA and it is super hot and humid here along with these pop up rain storms. My hair didn’t get frizzy like normal in those conditions. I doubt I’ll use it on wet hair because it just takes too long for me, so i’ll continue with my Airwrap/Supersonic and follow up with the Airstrait. It’s still hard to justify the money🤦🏾‍♀️

    Great review, wish I had watched it two months ago, though I did really want the airstraight as thought it would be a miracle, from the way it was marketed, so may not have been swayed. But I did buy it and I kept trying to get it too work, different products, no products, changed my shampoo and conditioner (all of them professional products), so here's the rub I tried too long to get it too work and went past the return window by about 10 days.
    I might not have done this if I was aware as this video shows that there can be a frizz problem, but I did, I just though it was me, nope it was the airstraight.
    So tried a bit of an appeal to get my money back from retailer, but that was a no, so tried going straight to Dyson who could commiserate with my issue, but could not refund me as the retailer had my money, not them !!! I asked in this situation, if I had bought it from you would you refund it and they said YES. SO I'm going to try with the retailer one more time, and if that doesn't work, I will have to eBay to get some of my money back 😒
    Wish me luck . . . and btw have just gone back to my normal haircare routine and my hair is back to normal.

      I’ve definitely tried the airstrait both ways (with a dryer) and it still wasn’t giving me the best result. The reason I tested this way for this video is because for the price of airstrait, it should cut out the drying time. If I had to use a blow dryer every time I had to use the airstrait, I wouldn’t want it anyway (just personal preference). I have a tutorial on the waves coming up soon🧜‍♀️🤍
