This was by far the most informative review I’ve seen on the air straight, I feel like I understand what this tool does now. After watching other videos I didn’t really get a clear idea of what this product actually does. Look forward to your follow up after you’ve used this more!
Roots can be done my holding the hair with tension and using the tool closed instead or by holding hair with a small brush and then blowing air at roots or you can just the the tool a bit longer at the top. To smooth out hair perfectly switch the tool to dry mode and put it on boost. It’s life changing. You can achieve a perfectly smooth style if you learn these few tricks. I have curly frizzy very long hair and I can just use this tool for a sleek look.
You have to blow dry the roots first. Since you have very textured hair you should be using this when your hair is wet, don’t let your hair dry like you did that’s why the results aren’t smooth & polished. You’ll need high airflow and highest heat. Use proper products. After using the wet to dry mode, use boost on dry mode & then cool mode. Keep practicing. It works great but you’re not getting the best due to your user error.
I have this and have super curly hair. I absolutely love it. In order to get the roots, I use a round brush and the air straight to get my hair very straight with just this tool. I made a video on this as well, so definitely check it out. Oh btw I also use the color wow dream coat and with that product my hair gets super shiny and silky. I completely recommend this tool
I bought this as soon as it launched, with the Shoppers optimum points, it took a nice bite out of the final total. I have very long, straight, thick hair. I can get from wet to dry, sleek, straight hair in 10 minutes. It has cut my getting ready time down so much, and it still looks great on day 2 and 3. After I bought it I traveled for a week, and the Airstrait was the only tool I brought with me. It's totally love and I would buy again!
I have curly hair and I absolutely love the Airstrait. For me, the trick is to use a straightening comb to guide and to give tension to the hair strand while drying it. It is perfection. I have not used my flat iron since I got it.
Take a look again at where the air actually comes out from. The copper area is just a guide for the air at the end, but the air comes out from the top of the plate (along the length of the clamp). I got my roots really well by going to the root, holding and clamping for about an inch, opening back up, clamping at the root again, and maybe a third time. Then I went all the way down the strand. I got the idea on IG when a lady used that clamp strategy to give her roots volume (she grabbed her hair up and re-clamped a few times). I found my roots looked great, but because I have a curly cut the ends look choppy and like the mid-way point between smooth and frizzy that you described. I think I’m going to use this as two swipes through to smooth and then use Airwrap for waves. The most expensive at home blowout of all time, but airwrap doesn’t get my roots as well as airstrait does. I saw a guy on Ig/TikTok do it so I’m going to try it. Lol I just don’t have the natural skill to use a round brush and blow dryer. I just come out a big frizzy mess unless I blow dry for 45 min and then flat iron for another 45. 🙄
Love your review. I think this would be great for people who want to wash their hair at night but don’t want to sleep with wet hair. You could run this through your hair and then in the morning touch up the roots with an actual straightener.
My thoughts exactly. I’m considering buying it and that’s what I would be using it for. For me, it would be all about cutting down on time I spend using any other tool.
I have curly hair also. I have the air wrap. I use the stiff square brush attachment to get the same look that you got with the air straight. I start with Color Wow dreamcoat to get it more smooth & shiny. I still go Uber some areas with a flat iron, but over all it definitely speeds up stying time. I just wanted you to know that if you have the air wrap you really don’t need this unless you just want to spend more money.
It does replace a straightener for wavy coarse hair girls. This has been my best year for hair styling. Love this tool, Epres bond repair and Redkin bond repair serum. I finally can create glass like hair.
This has been the best review I’ve seen so far! I too will likely need to go in with a straightener but I am okay with that as this product will allow me to get my hair as close to my desired style with less heat! You worded everything perfectly 👌🏼
I’m so excited! I ordered the Airstrait and it’s out for delivery today. I have wavy hair that takes effort to make straight - I have to round brush and then flat iron which always makes it kinda dry feeling.
I’ve had my airstrait for a couple of weeks now and I’m still deciding whether or not to return it. It definitely gets my hair straight however it still gets frizzy throughout the day. I’m still experimenting with products and technique. What I do love so far is the dry mode to touch up my hair. My hair is extremely fine and curly/frizzy. I haven’t used my flat iron since I got it but haven’t achieved the sleek smooth look I’m going for. Good point on using flat iron after but not needing to use it as much. Thanks for the video. Just found you and subscribed!
I also have fine & curtly hair (basically ringlets when it’s wet). I’ve been spraying IGK Good Behavior before drying. It’s a heat protectant & frizz control. It works great for me on the frizzyness - and I live in the extremely humid Houston Tx area.
Great review. Aside from the price, it may be worth it as a prepping tool because I hate blow drying my hair. Holding the brush and blowdryer up for extended periods of time tests my patience (and arms!). I always have to go to a second tool afterwards (i.e. flat iron) after I blow dry my hair to tame the frizz. As you mention, this product really just replaces the blow dryer and brush. For some that wouldn't be worth it. For me (and my arms!) it is.
I bought the Ghd duet- I feel like you might like it and I’d love to see a comparison… the best thing about it is you can at the end turn it on as a more traditional straightener for a final shiny touch
I have similar texture hair as yours and for the air straight. To get at roots when you do a section pull hair and use dryer feature to dry. Also, for less frizz, go slower, and after dry, go over in dry mode boost if needed. My hair has no frizz and is pin straight using it. Sometimes I go o er it with my Dyson dryer flyaway attachment. Also you can try different hir products like color wow, or a serum for frizz. I haven’t touched my flat iron in the three weeks since using it. Keep trying and you will, see that it can replace your flat iron 😊
The most exact review - i have the same kind of hair as you - finally got it as im in the UK. It straightens amazingly - but yes, the flyaways show if you have broken your hair. Also why such a short cable??? it's amazing - yet i have to just run the straighteners over it for that polished look. Is it worth it? yes. Less damage as well.
You did such a great job reviewing the Airstrait! It's succinct, yet thorough, and realistic-gave all the information I need. Thank you! And I love how your hair looked, especially the day 2 styling, so gorgeous 😍
Julissa Guillen recommends using a small round brush for tension at the root when drying with the closed iron, to get a straighter root. Might be worth trying? Also using the boost mode to finish. V interested in this product for my curly hair also so would love to hear about your updated thoughts! 😊x
Can you use the Dyson Airstraight to rough dry your roots first, or do you need to use your blow dryer on them? I just heard about this product yesterday, June 2024. I have no idea, how I didn't hear about it beforehand. My hair in it's natural state, is an unbelievable mess. When I was growing up, in the 1960's and 70's, smooth straight shiny thin long hair, was what all my friends had. I would ask my mom, how I got the kind of hair that I had. She said a lot of her European ancestor's had it. Also, my dad had ancestors that had it as well. So, my mom would put it in French braids, or put it up in a bun. Mind you, there were no hair care products on the market, to help with my kind of hair texture. I have very thick, naturally curly frizzy, wavey frizzy, coarse, stubborn hair. I use to only wash it once a week, or sometimes every 10 day's, it never got oily. It was such a nightmare! Fast forward decades later, and finally the keratin complex treatment's came to Dallas, and I was first in line to get it done. It changed my life!!! So now, I get two a year. And thankfully, there are so many product's available on the market now that help me with it. After I got my first keratin treatment, everyone that knew me was blown away. At first they were speechless, then they would say your hair looks looks so lovely. And you look so young! I was a new person, and was on cloud nine. 🤗❤️
I got it too Jaime. I literally have your type hair and I live in Tampa, Florida . So if you say putting a potato on your hair will keep it from frizzing . Why not. I just bought the COlor WOw dream coat AGAIN, maybe using it since Im older i can use it better? Also I was using the GHD one but it fried my hair.
Aww thank you for your review. My hair it’s pretty similar to yours and definitely is not what I am looking for. Dyson needs to step up for curly frizzy hair. I have the airwrap and because it doesn’t have a big oval brush it’s not as great as the Revlon One-Step.
Two weeks in with airstrait❤. Before I would round brush dry. Never quite getting the smoothness and sleek finish my stylist could achieve. And I wont use a flat iron anymore. Airstrait does it. I’m not disappointed about rough drying the roots first with the airstrait, sometimes with help of a round brush. The width of the tool is required to accommodate 2 channels of directed air flow-and the result is pretty amazing so hitting the roots first is a step I don’t mind at all.
this was so helpful, thank you! I also would love an update in a month or two after more use, since I'm really interested in the amount of time this could save in my routine.
In my experience with hair if you turn it upside down it’s going against the natural way your hair grows so it will create a lot of flyaways and won’t keep the hair tension that you need at the roots. I don’t think there’s a solution for the root problem with this product
I have curly hair also and had to try this! I don’t regret this purchase at all. The air wrap wasn’t worth it for me even though it had all those attachments
Best review so far, confirms what i thought. Takes forever to dry my very curly hair with a hair dryer and then going in with a straightener. I will be very happy to cut out using a hair dryer. Only i will have to wait until 2024 for the release in australia.
Great review! I would love an updated review. I have the airwrap and never looked back, but I had to get used to it and had to use the right products in order to perfect the outcome. So please do an update in a view weeks ❤️
I have also naturally curly hair and I was debating to buy this or not. But I already have the GHD Dual Styler which is the same principle than the Dyson but with it I am able to straighten my roots very well! Maybe you should try it out 🙂
Such a good review and it looks so amazing especially compared to the blow dryer. My hair is the same way and looks the same with a blow dryer so I will def be purchasing this!
I saw someone pulling their hair taut and drying the roots helped smoothen it out better. I’m really inclined to get one now. 😩 I have wavy/curly hair but it doesnt actually hold a style that well even when I use a curling iron - it usually drops at the end of the day and becomes more straight, so I’m wondering if this will help maintain the style when I do use heat tools.
Hi Jamie! Don't know if you'll catch this comment on this older video... BUT, do you think that this would work well on a curly bob? I saw the IG reel you posted recently about your old bob haircut, and it looked so nice and smooth... what did you use in the past to straighten your hair when it was that length (I have super naturally curly hair like you).
This is the first review I have seen which matches with my experience, thank you! I have wavy/curly hair and I am impressed with how straight it has got my hair, but and a big but, I wouldn’t leave the house without touching up with my steampod, I am happy to do this because I know the style will last. Last week I touched my hair up in the dry setting as my hair curled up a bit after running, it took 8 minutes and my hair was lovely. Thanks again for the honest review , i was beginning to think there was something wrong with my hair 😂
i'm intrigued. I prefer my hair straight over curly, but i have such long hair/thick hair that i really hate blowdrying. Also, I'm really too lazy to do a full blowdry/style and the amika brush isn't really getting me the desired result. Your first result is how i'd like my hair to look.
I'd say go for it. I have long, curly, very thick hair. This thing is a game changer. I'm able to get my hair straight using this tool alone. I haven't needed a straightener at all. I do end up doing 3 passes on my hair and call it a day. I'm currently trying out different hair products to see what I like the best with it. I love this tool! Totally worth the money!
I have really curly hair too and wanted to get this as the effort to blow dry then straighten long curly hair is a nightmare for me but I would have the same problem as you with the roots being curly so now I'm not 100% 🤔 great review though ❤
Thx for for this thorough review! I have frizzy wavy hair that’s so difficult to smooth out. I’m also trying to give up keratin. This does sound like something that may cut back on the amount of heat & pulling I need to do. I would use this first and then a curling iron so it’s not so straight. I have the Dyson wrap and honestly it’s doesn’t work well for me. Pricy tho 😩
I also have curly hair and I normally get two keratin treatments a year and I’m wondering if this could replace those and save my hair from the viscous damage cycle. Without the keratin, I have to use the Revlon one step and then a straightener and my hair still gets frizzy with humidity. How does this compare to just using the Revlon original one step?
This straightener costs more than my first car cost in 1977 😂. I bought the car in the summer before Grade 12, when I was 17. The car was a (used) 1971 four-door Toyota Corona. I took out a bank loan and my 18-year-old boyfriend co-signed the loan because my mother couldn’t-women couldn’t co-sign loans in 1977!!
Well, I just got the Airwrap for my bday and had the blow dryer since Xmas of 2021….and I guess I’ll have to add the Airstraight to my list 😂 tho I am like you I don’t like my hair pin straight I like to give it some movement especially at the ends.
Have anyone tried to curl their hair with this? I wanna buy it so bad but I like a little curls/waves every now and then, but don’t see videos about it
Remember to use the cold air setting, after straightening hair to hold and set the hair straight. It can be helpful to read the directions before doing a review.
yes! it works like a normal blowdryer in that way - but you would need to use a brush to add the tension needed to straighten out the roots (if you have curls/waves)
To be honest, I didn't know this stuff was released a year ago because it just went viral in my country a few months back lol. I'm so hesitant to buy it because the price is $567 T____T
I bought the Dyson Air Straight recently. It did dry nice, but broke after only 1 month...dysons customer service has been AWFUL!! They were supposed to send a new machine out once mine arrived. It's been over 2 weeks since tracking shows they received my machine and I've called twice to see whats going on. They just keep giving me the run around. Worst customer service ever. I can't believe I bought a $500 machine it broke within a month and now Dyson isn't doing anything to help me get my new machine. I'll NEVER buy anything from them ever again!!
I love when ppl say “I just picked up the _____” , like they went to the store, grabbed it off the shelf and walked out! You mean you dropped $400 from your bank account of hard-earned money and the cashier put it in a bag for you 😂 but thank you sm for the review :) I’m super interested in it
This was by far the most informative review I’ve seen on the air straight, I feel like I understand what this tool does now. After watching other videos I didn’t really get a clear idea of what this product actually does. Look forward to your follow up after you’ve used this more!

Ok so, it's 4 steps: drying roots, wet to dry mode, boost mode and cool mode? I just ordered mine and wanna make the best out of $500🫣
I have this and have super curly hair. I absolutely love it. In order to get the roots, I use a round brush and the air straight to get my hair very straight with just this tool. I made a video on this as well, so definitely check it out.

hi! I think you only used the wet mode. You should try dry mode with boost. It will blown your mind.
Great review. Aside from the price, it may be worth it as a prepping tool because I hate blow drying my hair. I bought the Ghd duet- I feel like you might like it and I’d love to see a comparison… the best thing about it is you can at the end turn it on as a more traditional straightener for a final shiny touch
You made the only honest review I saw so far on yt, thank you
Thinking of this as a blow drier is such a great way to approach this tool. Would love an update when you get more use out of it!
yessss!! i feel like thinking of this as a straightener is where people might get confused!
I have similar texture hair as yours and for the air straight. To get at roots when you do a section pull hair and use dryer feature to dry. How do I reach out (sorry not tech savvy!) 😂

Please try Boost mode under the Dry setting after your hair is dried. It will take your hair to the next level!
I got it too Jaime. I literally have your type hair and I live in Tampa, Florida . So if you say putting a potato on your hair will keep it from frizzing . Why not. I just bought the COlor WOw dream coat AGAIN, maybe using it since Im older i can use it better? Also I was using the GHD one but it fried my hair.
this is probably the best and most honest video i have seen on the airstrait
I have wavy hair, so I think this would be a good option for me!
Aww thank you for your review. My hair it’s pretty similar to yours and definitely is not what I am looking for. Dyson needs to step up for curly frizzy hair. I have the airwrap and because it doesn’t have a big oval brush it’s not as great as the Revlon One-Step.
Best Airstrait tutorial that I have seen so far.
I have wavy hair and I think is the perfect tool for me this is so great !
I wonder if you turn it upside down to get the roots
Had the same thought!
Me too was thinking to turn it upside to get to the roots!
In my experience with hair if you turn it upside down it’s going against the natural way your hair grows so it will create a lot of flyaways and won’t keep the hair tension that you need at the roots. I don’t think there’s a solution for the root problem with this product
Upside down the air will blow against the hair cuticle so itll be rlly frizzy
I was thinking the same thing
Super helpful, comprehensive review, as per usual! Thank you for all the information ☺️
Your hair is just so beautiful and special….it can do no bad style!
I have curly hair also and had to try this! I don’t regret this purchase at all. The air wrap wasn’t worth it for me even though it had all those attachments
So excited to see your opinion on this!!! ❤❤❤
woooo!
I wanted it to work so bad on my medium length bob and unfortunately it's a bit too big for that. Wish they would make a smaller version.
What nail polish did you use the colour is so nice!!🤗
Best review so far, confirms what i thought. Takes forever to dry my very curly hair with a hair dryer and then going in with a straightener. I will be very happy to cut out using a hair dryer. Only i will have to wait until 2024 for the release in australia.

Hey! Curious how long does this take to use from wet to dry/finished hair?
Did you notice the hot plates. Gets really hot. Not just airflow to straighten. Heat too.
Such a good review and it looks so amazing especially compared to the blow dryer. My hair is the same way and looks the same with a blow dryer so I will def be purchasing this!

This morning as I was blowing my hair dry I couldn’t help but think how much time this tool would save me.

@@corrinawalker5553 awesome. It seems like it’d be pretty awesome for what I need.
I wish Dyson would make dual voltage products
Thank you! Best review ❤
Thank you! Great review.
I was told by a Dyson rep that the wetter your hair the better. I’m sure you’d get better results from wetter hair. Try it.
Any updates? Do you still use it a year later and find it worth it?
I have wavy frizzy hair that I hate blow drying. I am hoping that the Airstrait will make it easy and smooth without using my flatiron as much.
Very well done!
I think the “blow dry and curling iron” girlies are gonna love this tool.
I wouldn’t buy it without your opinion. You are like my TY bestie 🤗
2000 era is back! 😢 my hair gets pretty straight with Airwrap but I will buy this anyway.
I didn’t even know this existed until yesterday at 3pm, by 3.10 I had ordered one online 😂😂😂
Oh now I have to buy it!!
Did there be electrification after straightening?
You can take the gold plates off and it helps get to the roots. Not as much as I would like but more than when they are attached.
I just bought this also!
what are your thoughts?!
Well, I just got the Airwrap for my bday and had the blow dryer since Xmas of 2021….and I guess I’ll have to add the Airstraight to my list 😂 tho I am like you I don’t like my hair pin straight I like to give it some movement especially at the ends.
I have curling hair like even more I used round brush for my root airstrait is like regular blower
Where did you get that Kate Moss print?
What hair products did you use?
You should try going slower down the hair for a smoother effect
You should have bought the Revair if you wanted a better result :) best device ever
How does this compare to the ghd one?
I have very thick hair and it’s frizzy, I got mine yesterday and I will not use anything BUT this
Can you turn the direction of the air flow in the opposite direction to get to your roots?
No it tangles the hair!
no! :(
corale or this?
Have anyone tried to curl their hair with this? I wanna buy it so bad but I like a little curls/waves every now and then, but don’t see videos about it
How long in total did this take? Also have you ever tired the Revlon brush?
I feel like you would get the same result with the revlon round brush thing
love a round brush blowout, but i def dont get the same result!
Remember to use the cold air setting, after straightening hair to hold and set the hair straight. It can be helpful to read the directions before doing a review.
Not related but love your nail Color!
For the price it should give you better results! So far I'm not impressed and I'm keeping my Revlon brush and my GHD straightner
Everyone's just tying themselves in knots in order to justify them wanting an overpriced subpar tool. That's marketing for you. Hypnosis
You’re supposed to close it and turn the air side to your roots.
yes! it works like a normal blowdryer in that way - but you would need to use a brush to add the tension needed to straighten out the roots (if you have curls/waves)
I don't understand how they can claim that it does not do heat damage.
It seems like while it makes it straight, it takes away the body. I like the fullness of your own blow drying better.
Thats a tool that makes sense for curly hair but you really don't need that If you have straight hair.
Will I ever have money for a Dyson? Nope!
Will I watch your video? Oh yeah!
All advertorial.
They really need to relax with those prices!!
I love when ppl say “I just picked up the _____” , like they went to the store, grabbed it off the shelf and walked out! You mean you dropped $400 from your bank account of hard-earned money and the cashier put it in a bag for you 😂 but thank you sm for the review :) I’m super interested in it
Please turn the music down it’s so loud and jarring
It can't dry your roots but costs $800 dollars? If they fix the design I'll consider it. This was designed by someone who doesn't have hair.
